While Alan is stuck in his slummy hotel room, the テレビ視聴者 experiences flashbacks that Alan has of elements of his life (all 伴う／関わるing sex) which have more or いっそう少なく led him to the place where he is today; he is more or いっそう少なく apathetic, an "hollow man" as T.S. Eliot (who is 簡潔に 言及／関連d) would say.We're shown how his 関係 with his wife 崩壊するd by his utter apathy, his 無（不）能 to emote, or even really have an emotional 返答 to anything. We're shown how his 関係 with a whore leads to him having larger, higher profile 攻撃する，衝突する 職業s. And 非，不，無 of it is very pretty. 結局 Alan calls an relax service and has two girls come to his hotel room. Once there, he watches while they fuck each other, （人命などを）奪う，主張するing that he "prefers to watch." After the two are done, he 支払う／賃金s them and asks one of the girls, Diane, to say. にもかかわらず some 関心 from the other call girl, Diane agrees.
