How do you sum up your style?
解放する/自由な, 平易な, glamorous and family oriented. I am a New Zealander and always go for open and informal, chic and light.
What is your design 過程?
Before I design anything, I consider the end result. I get a feel for the space, for the (弁護士の)依頼人 and how they would like to live. But it is based on passion as much as practicality. I also ask, ‘Which things are important to you? How do you want to feel in the space? What is the 機能(する)/行事 of the space?’ I work out how the house will work at its best on all these levels so that I can see it in my imagination before making it real.
How did you 達成する the look in your home?
My 長,指導者 目的(とする) was to make the whole house feel 有望な ? it was a 大規模な 穴掘り with a new 186-square-metre 地階. I also 追加するd large roof lanterns in the kitchen, family room and above the main staircase, which 許す natural light into the 地階. During the day I hardly ever have to switch on the lights. I also changed all the doors so that they 許す light to flow and to create a feeling of space. The 床に打ち倒すs are white oiled oak, the 塀で囲むs finished in a chalky white, and most of the furnishings are white or 中立の in トン 同様に. Nothing is too 激しい or too serious, but everything is very beautiful and special in its own 権利.
How has your life 奮起させるd your work?
I live a busy life with four children and, very often, their friends. I 病弱な
t people to be able to just 減少(する) in and have a coffee or a 雑談(する). I am not 特に formal, and when it (機の)カム to designing my own home, everything had to work with the fact that I have three 十代の少年少女s and an 幼児. The 核心 of the house is the open, 柔軟な family space centred on the kitchen, with doors on two 味方するs that open on to the 中庭. I can be with Anna Cristina and Tariq in the kitchen and the girls and their friends can be in the cinema-playroom in the 地階. I always want my designs to feel friendly and 招待するing.
How has work 奮起させるd life?
I never forget the 力/強力にする of home and returning there, and what it feels like to be yourself in your own space. Work has also taught me to mix things up a little.
Any tips for living in a white house?
Even though my house is white, it is practical: white leather is as 平易な to clean as any other colour ? baby wipes are a 広大な/多数の/重要な way to clean off 示すs, even pen 示すs ? and white linen slip covers can be put in the washing machine.
Design tip?
Be 柔軟な ? rooms need to change to 控訴 your circumstances. I want to know that my home can work for me and my friends as much as it does for my children and theirs, because it has been designed for everyone living in it.
What are you 現在/一般に collecting?
I used to live in Hong Kong and I love Asian art. One of my favourite pieces is a 絵 called Paper Bride by Zeng Chuanxing. I am 熱烈な about photography and have a large picture of a cloud by the English photographer Richard Learoyd.
Who are your 助言者s?
My parents Jocelyn and Eric have been a 抱擁する support through good and bad, and my father was 特に supportive when I took big steps in life. He 高く評価する/(相場などが)上がるs what I have 達成するd. My designer friends Melissa Odabash and Julien Macdonald are inspirational.
Do you have a motto?
Really believe in yourself and 信用 your own judgment ? for everything, not just design.

I couldn’t live without…
My family and friends.
Shoes I love and collect shoes, 特に Louboutins ? all very high! ? but I also love my Havaianas flip-flops.
Portraits of my children The 絵s of my children in the sitting room are by Claerwen James. I also collect photographs of my children taken by Andrea Hamilton.
Perfume I love Serge Lutens. I prefer his 非,不,無-甘い, 非,不,無-floral, cleaner scents.
I read a marvellous 調書をとる/予約する this summer called September by Rosamund Pilcher and I also really enjoyed The Help by Kathryn Stockett.
For beauty I believe in the basics. Clean your 肌 every evening, 適用する moisturiser 定期的に and always use sunscreen during the day ? as a Kiwi, I am very aware of the 損失 that the sun can 原因(となる).
