The 10th season of Car SOS started 支援する in March and its penultimate episode will 空気/公表する Thursday (5 May) night on 国家の Geographic at 8pm.
It features a 1994 Vauxhall Cavalier Turbo 4X4 that has been static on Darren's driveway in Stockport since his life-changing 事故 and 文書s the presenters' incredibly 堅い 決定/判定勝ち(する) to either keep the car 初めの or tailor it to its owner's needs.

'Surprisingly, it wasn't that rusty ? it must be some sort of microclimate in Stockport, as it hadn't rotted away 完全に. However, mechanically, the engine was tired, the 中断 had given out, the ブレーキs 発射 and 内部の 落ちるing apart - which tends to happen when you have a car sitting around for such a long period of time.'

Having taken the car to Ric 支持を得ようと努めるd, a specialist in racing and sports car mechanic, the guys 完全に check the 条件 of the 28-year-old Cavalier

Yet the 決定/判定勝ち(する) was made to 圧力(をかける) ahead and a circular saw was 解雇する/砲火/射撃d into life to 切り開く/タクシー/不正アクセス away at the Vauxhall's almost 30-year 団体/死体.?
Once the 中心存在 was 除去するd, a bespoke 後部 door hinge was 任命する/導入するd to 許す for the doors to open and の近くに in a Rolls-Royce-style 'coach' fashion to create a larger aperture.?
This?供給するs more space for Darren to be moved in and out of his car.
The sills and the doors were then fitted with high-strength steel to reinstall the 構造上の rigidity lost from the 除去するd door 中心存在, which the presenters and 専門家 mechanic - and Car SOS 正規の/正選手 - Ric 支持を得ようと努めるd believe 供給するs better 衝突,墜落 保護 than the Cavalier had 初めは.?
The Car SOS team go about working out how they could adapt the Cavalier's 団体/死体 so that Darren could once again sit inside his beloved c ar. Tim and Ric use a 規模 model of the Vauxhall to show how they 意図 to 削減(する) out the B-中心存在
Using specialist computer 補佐官d design (CAD), Ric designed a new high system so the 後部 doors open in a coach-door fashion - 類似の to a Rolls-Royce
Ric created this bespoke hinge system that 許すs the 後部 door to open the other way while 供給するing a very strong attachment to 妨げる the door from sagging during use
The next major step was to 削減(する) out the B-中心存在 - a 決定/判定勝ち(する) that 最終的に will 限界 the value of the car. Fuzz told us in our 排除的 interview that he was very apprehensive about chopping into Darren's car, knowing how much he loved it
'The best thing about it is that, from the outside with the doors の近くにd, you can't tell that it's any different from a 基準 Cavalier Turbo,' says Fuzz.?
Next was the monumental 仕事 of sourcing the 器具/備品 that could easily 移転 Darren into his car.
'We didn't have a system in the UK that would 十分である to get Darren - who is 6ft2 tall - in and out of the car without needing a support team of people to lend a 手渡す,' Tim explained to This is Money.
'We 手配中の,お尋ね者 to make it as smooth as possible, which is why we engaged with a company called BraunAbility Europe ? which is the world's 主要な 製造業者 of 乗り物 adaption 解答s based in Sweden.'
The system uses a bespoke 車椅子 that 大(公)使館員s into the car, swivels 90 degrees and locks into place to become the 乗客 seat.?
'It's controlled 完全に by 手渡すs and is easily operated by just one of his carers, who also need to be in the car with him at all times for health 推論する/理由s, which is why we couldn't take out the 後部 (法廷の)裁判,' Tim 追加するs.

Fuzz 認める to us that this was a 'heart-in-the-mouth moment' for him, as he still wasn't sure if Darren would be happy about what they'd done to the car that he had kept with him through 厚い and thin.
'Darren's story is a 堅い one,' he said. 'When I spoke to him after we 手渡すd his car 支援する, I asked when he last drove it and he said it was the day before his 大規模な motorcycle 事故.
'Without 疑問, this is the biggest 事業/計画(する) we've done yet over the course of ten series and it's a real testament to the people who help us on the show that we could do something like this.?
