Fans of TV show Car SOS will need to buckle up for its biggest 涙/ほころび jerker yet when this week's episode 現在のs its biggest ever 窮地 - 保存する the value of a modern classic Vauxhall Cavalier Turbo or 削減(する) it open so its paralysed owner can ride in it for the first time in over a 10年間.

For those who 港/避難所't seen the long-running programme, it follows presenters Tim Shaw and Fuzz Townshend as they 内密に 回復する 心にいだくd classic cars belonging to deserving individuals who have been unable to 直す/買収する,八百長をする them up 予定 to unforeseen 医療の or 財政上の 推論する/理由s.

The 最新の episode is, in their words, the 'most 神経-racking of them all', as they are 軍隊d to make the difficult choice between refurbishing the 90s British 最高の saloon to its 初めの?glory - who would 保証(人) its 未来 value - or 切り開く/タクシー/不正アクセスing the 味方する of it out so that Darren, 36, can once again sit inside his pride and joy some 14 years after a motorcycle 事故 left him 車椅子 bound.

The 10th season of Car SOS started 支援する in March and its penultimate episode will 空気/公表する Thursday (5 May) night on 国家の Geographic at 8pm.

It features a 1994 Vauxhall Cavalier Turbo 4X4 that has been static on Darren's driveway in Stockport since his life-changing 事故 and 文書s the presenters' incredibly 堅い 決定/判定勝ち(する) to either keep the car 初めの or tailor it to its owner's needs.

The self-professed 石油 長,率いる bought the British 最高の saloon in 2007, having realised a long-称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 dream to own an example of the high-業績/成果 car with its turbocharged 2.0-litre engine, which (when new) produced 204bhp and could 攻撃する,衝突する 60mph in under seven seconds and a (人命などを)奪う,主張するd 最高の,を越す 速度(を上げる) of 149mph.

Yet his 計画(する)s to 再構築する the ageing モーター - which had over 118,000 miles on the clock - were 削減(する) short に引き続いて a terrible motorcycle acciden t in 2008 that left Darren paralysed from the neck 負かす/撃墜する.

にもかかわらず 存在 unable to sit inside - or even touch - his much-loved モーター, the former 鉄道 signalman 辞退するd to part with his pride and joy, instead keeping it under a tarpaulin outside his home where he could keep a watchful 注目する,もくろむ on it.

Darren's carer, Adrienne, who 指名するd him for the show, said he rarely lets anyone lay a 手渡す on his car. In fact, he would only give them 許可 to clean it, though under strict 指示/教授/教育s to polish it in a particular direction.

Darren, 36, bought the 1994 Vauxhall Cavalier Turbo 4X4 - his dream car - in 2007 with the intention of refurbishing and modifying it (pictured). However, a tragic motorcycle accident the following year left the former highway signalman paralysed and no longer able to sit inside his pride and joy

This 提起する/ポーズをとるd the first problem for Tim and Fuzz, with the 前提 of the show 存在 that they take the cars away unbeknown to the owners and 直す/買収する,八百長をする them up without their knowledge, only to surprise them with their 微光ing 乗り物s in a big 明らかにする/漏らす at the end of each episode.

'The car had sat there for 13 or 14 years, so that will give you a 手段 of the sort of 条件 it was in,' Fuzz explains.

'Surprisingly, it wasn't that rusty ? it must be some sort of microclimate in Stockport, as it hadn't rotted away 完全に. However, mechanically, the engine was tired, the 中断 had given out, the ブレーキs 発射 and 内部の 落ちるing apart - which tends to happen when you have a car sitting around for such a long period of time.'

The car had been sat on Darren's driveway since 2008. It even had the last tax disc for the car as shown here, before it was declared SORN and taken off the road

にもかかわらず the sizeable 仕事 just to 回復する the モーター to the 条件 it would have been when it left the factory 28 years ago, Tim had an even bigger 計画(する) in mind to adapt the car so Darren could ride in it once again.

It would entail 任命する/導入するing a 車椅子 system that fitted 直接/まっすぐに into the car, though would need far more 入ること/参加(者) space than the four-door saloon 供給するs as 基準.

To make it fit for Darren, it would need the B-中心存在 - the 地位,任命する between the 前線 door and 後部 door that structurally 持つ/拘留するs the roof up and most of the car together - to be chopped out of the 乗客 味方する 完全に.

Fuzz 収容する/認めるs he had his 疑問s if this was the 大勝する to go 負かす/撃墜する, knowing 十分な 井戸/弁護士席 that it would not only 限界 the 未来 value of the car by taking away its originality but also 潜在的に upset Darren, who might not want the authenticity of his much-loved モーター 存在 tampered with.

Yet the 決定/判定勝ち(する) was made to 圧力(をかける) ahead and a circular saw was 解雇する/砲火/射撃d into life to 切り開く/タクシー/不正アクセス away at the Vauxhall's almost 30-year 団体/死体.?

Once the 中心存在 was 除去するd, a bespoke 後部 door hinge was 任命する/導入するd to 許す for the doors to open and の近くに in a Rolls-Royce-style 'coach' fashion to create a larger aperture.?

This?供給するs more space for Darren to be moved in and out of his car.

The sills and the doors were then fitted with high-strength steel to reinstall the 構造上の rigidity lost from the 除去するd door 中心存在, which the presenters and 専門家 mechanic - and Car SOS 正規の/正選手 - Ric 支持を得ようと努めるd believe 供給するs better 衝突,墜落 保護 than the Cavalier had 初めは.?

The Car SOS team go about working out how they could adapt the Cavalier's body so that Darren could once again sit inside his beloved car. Tim and Ric use a scale model of the Vauxhall to show how they intent to cut out the B-pillar

The next major step was to cut out the B-pillar - a decision that ultimately will limit the value of the car. Fuzz told us in our exclusive interview that he was very apprehensive about chopping into Darren's car, knowing how much he loved it

'The best thing about it is that, from the outside with the doors の近くにd, you can't tell that it's any different from a 基準 Cavalier Turbo,' says Fuzz.?

Next was the monumental 仕事 of sourcing the 器具/備品 that could easily 移転 Darren into his car.

'We didn't have a system in the UK that would 十分である to get Darren - who is 6ft2 tall - in and out of the car without needing a support team of people to lend a 手渡す,' Tim explained to This is Money.

'We 手配中の,お尋ね者 to make it as smooth as possible, which is why we engaged with a company called BraunAbility Europe ? which is the world's 主要な 製造業者 of 乗り物 adaption 解答s based in Sweden.'

The system uses a bespoke 車椅子 that 大(公)使館員s into the car, swivels 90 degrees and locks into place to become the 乗客 seat.?

'It's controlled 完全に by 手渡すs and is easily operated by just one of his carers, who also need to be in the car with him at all times for health 推論する/理由s, which is why we couldn't take out the 後部 (法廷の)裁判,' Tim 追加するs.

'The whole 過程 of getting Darren into his car takes いっそう少なく than a minute. 普通は, it would take around 20 minutes and need a team of six people.'

Mid-way through the restoration, Adrienne and Keith were invited back to see what Tim and Fuzz had done to Darren's treasured motor. Here you can see the B-pillar has been removed and the sills strengthened with extra steel

Tim said it isn't a world first, but says it is certainly the first 事例/患者 of 修正するing a classic sports saloon car for someone who is tetraplegic.?

With the modifications made and the 残り/休憩(する) of the car refurbished - 含むing a rebuilt and tuned engine - the episode shows the emotionally-告発(する),告訴(する)/料金d moment when Darren is 現在のd with his car and told he can go out in it for the first time since his 事故.?

Fuzz 認める to us that this was a 'heart-in-the-mouth moment' for him, as he still wasn't sure if Darren would be happy about what they'd done to the car that he had kept with him through 厚い and thin.

'Darren's story is a 堅い one,' he said. 'When I spoke to him after we 手渡すd his car 支援する, I asked when he last drove it and he said it was the day before his 大規模な motorcycle 事故.

'Without 疑問, this is the biggest 事業/計画(する) we've done yet over the course of ten series and it's a real testament to the people who help us on the show that we could do something like this.?

'Hopefully it encourages others to get in touch with 復古/返還s they think might be out of reach.'

'I cried when I got home after 手渡すing the car 支援する, as it was such a monumental moment for us and to see the reaction from Darren and his family and friends was beyond words.

'It was like a 二塁打 明らかにする/漏らす. First we 明らかにする/漏らすd the car, which was enough of a moment for Darren. Then we asked him if he 手配中の,お尋ね者 to go out for a ride in it and his mind was blown.?

A pristine example of the Vauxhall Cavalier Turbo 4X4 - the British brand's 最高の saloon built between 1992 and 1994. Only around 200 remain in the UK today

The Cavalier Turbo is considering one of Britain's 広大な/多数の/重要な 'sleeper' cars - a high-業績/成果 乗り物 that looks like any normal family saloon.?

Car SOS 述べるs it as 'all Julie Andrews on the outside but a 激怒(する)ing Jack Nicholson under the bonnet'.

While it might have looked like a bog-基準 sales rep car, it's 力/強力にするd by a 16-弁, 2.0-litre turbocharged 石油 engine that produced 204bhp.

Other 決定的な stats 含む a six-速度(を上げる) 手動式の gearbox, an all-wheel-運動 system, 0-60mph in under seven seconds and a 最高の,を越す 速度(を上げる) of 149mph.?

It was produced between 1992 and 1994 with?2,244 built in total - 1,004 sold in the 部隊d Kingdom though only around 231 remain today either on the road or 宣言するd as SORN, によれば DVLA 記録,記録的な/記録するs.

Talking about his love for the Cav alier Turbo, Tim Shaw tells us: 'I grew up in the nineties when they were 追加するing more words and numbers to the 支援する of 業績/成果 cars: 8-弁; 16-弁; 燃料 注入するd; four-wheel-運動; turbo.?

'But the Cavalier Turbo went in the 全く opposite direction of that 時代.?

'It was one of those cars that had everything rammed in it, but didn't make a big song and dance about it.?It was quicker to 60mph by a tenth of a second than a 4X4 Ford Cosworth.?

'It is a car, as far as I'm 関心d, the only British 集まり-生産/産物 sleeper and a car never to go up against because you would lose.'

Fuzz Townshend 追加するs: 'We drove a meticulous one recently and it was 絶対 superb. It was a stonking 運動.?

'In a way they feel やめる modern, but then when you look at all the switchgear and plastic you can 明確に see just how old the car is.?

'It didn't make the waves its 競争相手s did, 簡単に because they didn't put 広大な/多数の/重要な big 鯨 tales and bodykits. But what a machine it was.'

We asked classic car valuations 専門家s Hagerty what a 類似の-mileage, good-条件, Cavalier Turbo 4X4 might be 価値(がある) today.

Their rarity and comparative lesser desirability compared to 類似の-時代 急速な/放蕩な Fords (which can cost 上向きs of £100,000 today) means there hasn't been an example of one at a 重要な auction in 最近の years.?

Based on the asking price of a 類似の Cavalier Turbo 名簿(に載せる)/表(にあげる)d on Ebay not too long ago - which had been 井戸/弁護士席 looked after and 持続するd with 167,000 miles on the clock - the valuations 専門家s reckon the 普通の/平均(する) value today is around £6,000.

However, they 追加する: 'It's one of those cars where someone may 支払う/賃金 the moon for it.'
