Bank of England 知事 Andrew Bailey yesterday gave his strongest hint yet that Britain could start cutting 利益/興味 率s before the US.

Bailey said that 進歩 in the 戦う/戦い against インフレーション may mean it needs to 削減(する) 率s by more than markets 現在/一般に 推定する/予想する.

That could mean that the UK, 同様に as the eurozone, 反抗するs 仮定/引き受けることs that the US 連邦の Reserve should lead the way on lowering borrowing costs.

‘There is no 法律 which says that the Fed must move first and everyone else 含むing us moves afterwards,’ Bailey said.

The Bank of England yesterday left 利益/興味 率s on 持つ/拘留する at 5.25 per cent but hinted at a 削減(する) this summer ? かもしれない next month ? まっただ中に 調印するs that インフレーション is の近くに to hitting its 2 per cent 的.

Bailey said: ‘With the 進歩 we’ve made... it is likely that we’ll need to 削減(する) the Bank 率 in the coming 4半期/4分の1s, かもしれない more so than is 現在/一般に 定価つきの into markets.’

He 追加するd that the Bank would look closely at new インフレーション and 職業s market data as it 査定する/(税金などを)課すd whether ‘the 危険s from インフレーション persistence are receding’. Bailey said a June move was ‘neither 支配するd out, nor a fait accompli’.

UK インフレーション fell to 3.2 per cent in March while in the eurozone it is 2.4 per cent and the European Central Bank is 広範囲にわたって 推定する/予想するd to 削減(する) 率s next month.

インフレーション has proven more stubborn in America, which is the world’s biggest economy, where it rose to 3.5 per cent.

Central banks outside the US are often assumed to be 用心深い about 存在 more dovish on 率s than the Fed because that tends to mean their 通貨s 弱める against the dollar, resulting in higher 輸入する prices.

That has led to market 期待s about UK 率s 存在 影響(力)d by those in America.

But Bailey said: ‘To my mind, the インフレーション dynamics of the UK are different to the US. The US is 直面するing a different 状況/情勢.’

The 知事’s comments 最初 sent the 続けざまに猛撃する 事情に応じて変わる against the dollar to の近くに to $1.24 and 押し進めるd the FTSE 100 to a new high.

Yet the 通貨 move 逆転するd later and the London 索引 gave up much of its 伸び(る)s.

That was after 新たにするd 調印するs of 証拠不十分 in the US 職業s market, with 人物/姿/数字s showing a higher-than-推定する/予想するd rise in 週刊誌 失業 利益 (人命などを)奪う,主張するs.

It follows data last week showing weak US 職業 伸び(る)s. The Fed has signalled that while sticky インフレーション will mean 率s stay higher for longer, an 予期しない shock to the 職業s market could change its 見解(をとる).

ING Bank 経済学者 James Smith said: ‘The Bank of England is getting very の近くに to its first 率 削減(する).

‘We’re still leaning more to an August start date for 削減(する)s, though it’s a の近くに call. What isn’t in 疑問, is that the Bank is comfortable with moving ahead of the Fed.’

The Bank of England’s nine-member 通貨の 政策 委員会 (MPC) 投票(する)d 7-2 to leave 利益/興味 率s on 持つ/拘留する yesterday .

Swati Dhingra and Dave Ramsden 投票(する)d for a 削減(する), the first time that two or more members of the MPC have 投票(する)d for a 率 削減(する) since 早期に 2020.
