Pink ball not the answer at SCG: Cummins

Pat Cummins has discouraged Cricket Australia from reimagining the Sydney 実験(する) as a pink-ball fixture にもかかわらず bad light 与える/捧げるing to the draw against South Africa.

A day-and-a-half's 価値(がある) of play was lost to wet 天候 and bad light at the SCG and Australia ran out of time on Sunday to bowl the Proteas out twice, にもかかわらず looking on 最高の,を越す for most of the match.

Day one was 影を投げかけるd by two bad light 停止s, the first of which (機の)カム at only 2.15pm.

The 延期するs led SCG 信用 議長,司会を務める Tony Shepherd to 示唆する reconfiguring the 年次の SCG fixture as a day-night pink-ball 実験(する) could be a way to 避ける 未来 停止s.

Shepherd also floated the 可能性 of 簡単に 代用品,人ing red balls for pink in the 中央 of a daytime 実験(する) if bad light made playing with the red ball untenable.

Cummins 認める the prospect of 行方不明の cricket was never ideal, but said it was not as simple as switching to a pink-ball contest.

"Pink ball is a 抱擁する change. It's not like for like," he told reporters.

"I think here at the SCG it would be hard to play a pink ball just with how abrasive the wicket is.

"It moves really 異なって to the red ball. 本人自身で, I would still like it to be a red ball.

"We don't like 行方不明の overs. Maybe, if there is any chance of 行方不明の overs late, start earlier."

Visiting Proteas captain Dean Elgar also 勧めるd 警告を与える.

"I think it's taking the mickey a bit if you start with a red one and you change to a pink one," he said.

"実験(する) cricket is known for the red ball. That's why you grow up playing 実験(する) cricket, you want to play with the red ball.

"I still think authenticity and the uniqueness around the 判型 needs to be 尊敬(する)・点d."

Elgar said playing on through 不明瞭 was not the answer, either.

"There were times (at the SCG) when honestly we couldn't see the ball. That's not over-誇張するing," he said.

"I know it's a 堅い one and no-one has come up with a 概念 yet but player safety for me is important.

"Just imagine that happens, a guy gets 攻撃する,衝突する at gully on the 長,率いる and it's dark, it's raining. I mean, ありふれた sense needs to take over there."
