Debit card 割増し料金s could be scrapped in 厳重取締

割増し料金s for 支払い(額)s made by debit card could soon be 捨てるd, but 商売/仕事 groups have 警告するd there might be unintended consequences for 消費者s.

The 連邦の 政府 said it was 用意が出来ている to 禁止(する) debit 支払い(額) 割増し料金s by 2026, 未解決の a review carried out by the Reserve Bank.

The 消費者 監視者 has also been given $2.1 million to 調査/捜査する 料金s for card 購入(する)s, which can 増加する the total cost of goods by several per cent.

総理大臣 Anthony Albanese said while the 割増し料金s may not seem like much by themselves, the 料金s 追加するd up.

"There shouldn't be hidden 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金s and 割増し料金s there when people are using their own money," he said in Brisbane on Tuesday.

"A debit card is taking money 直接/まっすぐに from people's accounts.?

"It is their money and there shouldn't be 割増し料金s on it."

But Australian Restaurant and Cafe 協会 CEO Wes Lambert said 除去するing 割増し料金s altogether could lead to higher costs for 消費者s in the long run.

For instance, the banks and 支払い(額) companies could 課す a higher flat 率 cost on 商売/仕事s.

"It would lead to higher 割増し料金s and 直す/買収する,八百長をするd 料金s that 商売/仕事s would have to pass on to 顧客s," he told AAP.

"While we fully support lower costs 全体にわたる for 過程ing debit cards, what we don't want is too many unintended consequences."

消費者 group Choice's 長,率いる of 政策 Tom Abourizk welcomed the 政府 move to 捨てる the 割増し料金s.

"The 現在の 支配するs surrounding 割増し料金ing aren't working for 消費者s," he told AAP.

"There's 限定された ly a 欠如(する) of logic in having a 大多数 of 支払い(額)s that have 割増し料金s tacked on to the advertised price."

Australian Banking 協会 CEO Anna Bligh believes any changes would be a 勝利,勝つ for 消費者s.

"The (Reserve Bank of Australia's) 支配するs 許すing retailer 割増し料金ing are more than 20 years old," she said.

"They are no longer fit for 目的, given almost 90 per cent of 支払い(額)s are now made digitally.

"Our 産業 will work with the RBA, the 政府 and retailers through this review 過程 to get a better 結果 for Australians."

Australian 議会 of 商業 and 産業 CEO Andrew McKellar said a 禁止(する) on debit card 割増し料金s would be a 勝利,勝つ for 商売/仕事s and 消費者s.

"In many 事例/患者s, small 商売/仕事s are 直面するing these 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金s," he said on Tuesday.

"It's not やむを得ず linked to the costs of 供給するing the service.

"In many 事例/患者s, of course, they've got to pass it through, so it can 量 to a 重要な 割合 of the cost in the cost of a good or service that's been 供給するd."

But 影をつくる/尾行する treasurer Angus Taylor said the move by the 政府 was nothing but a distraction and wouldn't make a dent in broader cost-of-living 関心s.

"This is just a 禁止(する)d 援助(する) on a 弾丸 負傷させる," he said.

"Labor's 告示 on 割増し料金ing 欠如(する)s 詳細(に述べる)s and won't make a difference at the check out."?

Greens 上院議員 Sarah Hanson-Young said more needed to be done on the 問題/発行する.

"We need to make sure it's the bank that covers the cost of this, not the 消費者 and not the small 商売/仕事s," she told ABC TV.
