Harris -- daughter of breast 癌 specialist Shyamala Gopalan from the southern Indian city of Chennai -- paid 尊敬の印 to her late mother, who "believed so 深く，強烈に in an America where a moment like this is possible" in a 国家の 演説（する）／住所 with 大統領，／社長-elect Joe Biden on Saturday.
At Thulasendrapuram village in Tamil Nadu 明言する／公表する, once home to Harris's maternal grandfather P.V. Gopalan, 祝賀s broke out with people lighting 爆竹s, praying at its main 寺 and waving posters 耐えるing the 副／悪徳行為 大統領，／社長-elect's 直面する.
Women in the village made a rangoli -- a colourful work of folk art drawn on the ground -- with the words "Congratulations to Kamala Harris".
"It is a 事柄 of pride for the entire womenfolk," housewife Arul Mozhi Sudhakar told AFP.
- 'A lot of firsts' -
Harris' uncle, academic Balachandran Gopalan, said his late sister would have been proud of her daughter and that the family would converge in Washington from across the 部隊d 明言する／公表するs and from India, Canada and Mexico to 証言，証人／目撃する her historic 就任（式）／開始.
