NEW YORK (AP) - Crypto entrepreneur Sam Bankman-Fried was 宣告,判決d Thursday to 25 years in 刑務所,拘置所 for a 大規模な 詐欺 on hundreds of thousands of 顧客s that unraveled with the 崩壊(する) of FTX, once one of the world´s most popular 壇・綱領・公約s for 交流ing 数字表示式の 通貨.

Though he 述べるd Bankman-Fried as "極端に smart," U.S. 地区 裁判官 吊りくさび A. Kaplan 配達するd a blistering 分析 of Bankman-Fried and his 罪,犯罪s before 発表するing a 宣告,判決 that was half of what 検察官,検事s sought and いっそう少なく than a 4半期/4分の1 of the 105 years recommended by the 法廷,裁判所's 保護監察 officers.

"There is 絶対 no 疑問 that Mr. Bankman-Fried´s 指名する 権利 now is pretty much mud around the world," Kaplan said of the 32-year-old California man who seemed 頂上に the cryptocurrency universe before his 商売/仕事s 崩壊(する)d in November 2022, leaving 顧客s, 投資家s and 貸す人s short over $11 billion, which the 裁判官 ordered him to 没収される.

He was 罪人/有罪を宣告するd in November of 詐欺 and 共謀 - a 劇の 落ちる from a crest of success that 含むd a 最高の Bowl 宣伝, 証言 before 議会 and celebrity 裏書,是認s from 星/主役にするs like quarterback Tom Brady, basketball point guard Stephen Curry and comedian Larry David.

Kaplan 課すd the 宣告,判決 in the same Manhattan courtroom where, four months 以前, Bankman-Fried 証言するd that he had ーするつもりであるd to revolutionize the 現れるing cryptocurrency market with his innovative and altruistic ideas, not steal.

Kaplan said the 宣告,判決 反映するd the 危険 that Bankman-Fried "will be in position to do something very bad in the 未来. And it´s not a trivial 危険 at all." He 追加するd that the 宣告,判決 was fashioned "for the 目的 of 無能にするing him to the extent that can 適切な be done for a 重要な period of time."

Kaplan said he would advise the 連邦の Bureau of 刑務所,拘置所s to send Bankman-Fried to a medium-安全 刑務所,拘置所 近づく San Francisco because his notoriety, his 協会 with 広大な wealth, his autism and his social awkwardness are likely to make him 特に 攻撃を受けやすい at a high-安全 施設.

Assistant U.S. 弁護士/代理人/検事 Nicolas Roos had recommended a 刑務所,拘置所 宣告,判決 of 40 to 50 years, 説 it was the only way to 確実にする "the 被告 doesn't do it again."

検察官,検事s said tens of thousands of people and companies 世界的な lost billions of dollars since 2017 after Bankman-Fried 略奪するd FTX 顧客 accounts that he 約束d were 安全な to make millions of dollars of 違法な political 寄付s, 賄賂 Chinese 公式の/役人s, make risky 投資s, buy 高級な real 広い地所 in the Caribbean and live lavishly.

Kaplan agreed with 検察官,検事s Thursday that Bankman-Fried should not be credited because some 投資家s and 顧客s might 回復する some money. He 公式文書,認めるd that 顧客s lost about $8 billion, 投資家s lost $1.7 billion and 貸す人s were shorted by $1.3 billion.

When he spoke, Bankman-Fried stood and わびるd in a rambling 声明: "A lot of people feel really let 負かす/撃墜する. And they were very let 負かす/撃墜する. And I´m sorry about that. I´m sorry about what happened at every 行う/開催する/段階."

He 追加するd, "My useful life is probably over. It´s bee n over for a while now, from before my 逮捕(する)."

Wearing his khaki-colored 刑務所,拘置所 uniform and chained at the ankles, Bankman-Fried seemed to 簡潔に get emotional as he spoke for about 20 minutes, 表明するing 悔いる about "a lot of mistakes" but casting some 非難する の上に others. His trademark messy and bushy hair had returned from the trimmer look he 陳列する,発揮するd at 裁判,公判.

He 賞賛するd some of his former (n)役員/(a)執行力のあるs and workmates, 説: "They threw themselves into it and then I threw all of that away. It haunts me every day."

Kaplan later 非難するd Bankman-Fried's 発言/述べるs, 説 he 表明するd "never a word of 悔恨 for the (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限 of terrible 罪,犯罪s."

As his misty-注目する,もくろむd (弁護士の)依頼人 looked on, 弁護 弁護士/代理人/検事 Marc Mukasey said the 描写 of the Massachusetts 学校/設ける of 科学(工学)技術 卒業生(する) as an "arrogant greedy 詐欺師 who thought he would get away with fleecing the hard-earned money of hard-working people" was wrong.

"Sam was not a ruthless 財政上の serial 殺し屋 who 始める,決める out every morning to 傷つける people," Mukasey said in 法廷,裁判所 after 勧めるing in 法廷,裁判所 papers that any 刑務所,拘置所 宣告,判決 be in the 選び出す/独身 digits. "Sam Bankman-Fried doesn´t make 決定/判定勝ち(する)s with malice in his heart. He makes 決定/判定勝ち(する)s with math in his 長,率いる."

The 裁判官 later 非難するd Bankman-Fried's 計算/見積りs, 説 he was indeed "a math nerd, who looked at 決定/判定勝ち(する)s ーに関して/ーの点でs of math, 推定する/予想するd value."

He 特記する/引用するd 裁判,公判 証言 in which Bankman-Fried's former girlfriend and fellow (n)役員/(a)執行力のある Caroline Ellison said Bankman-Fried once told her that his 乗り気 to embrace 危険 was such that he'd be happy to flip a coin if it (機の)カム up tails and the world was destroyed - as long as if it (機の)カム up 長,率いるs, the world would be twice as good.

The 裁判官 said Bankman-Fried 利用するd that 危険-taking nature at his companies, "betting on 推定する/予想するd value" and 重さを計るing the 危険 of getting caught with the probability of large 伸び(る)s.

"That was the game," Kaplan said. "It's his nature."

Bankman-Fried´s 弁護士/代理人/検事s, friends and family had 勧めるd leniency, 説 he was ありそうもない to re-感情を害する/違反する. They also said FTX's 投資家s have 大部分は 回復するd their 基金s - a (人命などを)奪う,主張する 論争d by 破産 lawyers, FTX and its creditors.

"Mr. Bankman-Fried continues to live a life of delusion," wrote John Ray, the CEO of FTX who has been きれいにする up the 破産者/倒産した company. "The `商売/仕事´ he left on November 11, 2022 was neither solvent nor 安全な."

One FTX 顧客, Sunil Kavuri, spoke at 宣告,判決ing, 説 he'd traveled from London on に代わって of over 200 犠牲者s who had sent 衝撃 声明s to the 裁判官.

He said he'd spoken to other "犠牲者s just like myself who had their dreams destroyed" and had lived "the FTX nightmare every day for almost two years, every day, every night, a lot of crying, sleepless nights."

Bankman-Fried's parents, both Stanford 法律 School professors, did not speak as they left the courthouse Thursday, but later 問題/発行するd a 声明: "We are heartbroken and will continue to fight for our son."

Bankman-Fried, of Palo Alto, California, was once 価値(がある) billions of dollars on paper as the co-創立者 and CEO of FTX, which was the second-largest cryptocurrency 交流 in the world at one time.

FTX let 投資家s buy dozens of 事実上の 通貨s, from Bitcoin to more obscure ones like Shiba Inu Coin. 紅潮/摘発する with billions of dollars of 投資家s´ cash, Bankman-Fried took out a 最高の Bowl 宣伝 to プロの/賛成の mote his 商売/仕事 and bought the 指名するing 権利s to an 円形競技場 in Miami.

But the 崩壊(する) of cryptocurrency prices in 2022 took its (死傷者)数 on FTX, 最終的に 主要な to its downfall. FTX´s hedge 基金 (v)提携させる(n)支部,加入者, Alameda 研究, had bought billions of dollars of さまざまな crypto 投資s that lost かなりの 量s of value in 2022. Bankman-Fried tried to plug the 穴を開けるs in Alameda´s balance sheet with FTX 顧客 基金s.

Three people from Bankman-Fried´s inner circle pleaded 有罪の to 関係のある 罪,犯罪s and 証言するd at his 裁判,公判.

Besides Ellison, two onetime friends of Bankman-Fried - Gary Wang and Nishad Singh - 証言するd they felt they were directed by Bankman-Fried to commit 詐欺.
