漏れる 追跡(する)ing: The 大統領,/社長 and his insider critics

WASHINGTON (AP) - 大統領 Donald Trump is 公約するing to root out the leakers who 与える/捧げるd to the White House insider accounts that 競う some on his team question his judgment, competence and even rationality.

A 調書をとる/予約する by 大統領の author (頭が)ひょいと動く Woodward and an 匿名の/不明の New York Times op-ed article, Trump has said, are fiction and lies. But the 大統領,/社長 nonetheless finds them 説得力のある enough to 捜し出す out the leakers of behind-the-scenes stories and 引用するs. On Friday, Trump said the U.S. 司法(官) Department should 調査/捜査する the 身元 of the op-ed writer.

"結局, the 指名する of this sick person will come out," he told reporters on 空気/公表する 軍隊 One.

Some things to know about 漏れる 調査s:

THE NATURE OF A LEAK

Telling embarrassing stories about a 大統領,/社長's 行為 is not the same thing as 明らかにする/漏らすing 分類するd (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状).

The first could be a political 危険, which is why 行政 members from 副大統領 マイク Pence on 負かす/撃墜する 否定するd 存在 the op-ed writer this week. Still, 令状ing unflattering things about the 大統領,/社長 isn't a 罪,犯罪.

But the スパイ 行為/法令/行動する and other 連邦の 法律s do criminalize unauthorized 公表,暴露s about 確かな 国家の 安全 (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状), such as 監視 methods. Any 漏れる 調査s of 分類するd (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) tend to go through a コンビナート/複合体 過程 at th e 司法(官) Department that 含むs 決定するing whether the (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) was 極度の慎重さを要する and known to few people.

No 分類するd (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) appears to have been 明らかにする/漏らすd by the 匿名の/不明の op-ed author. And it's far from (疑いを)晴らす that the vivid portraits of erratic 大統領の 行為 述べるd by Woodward and the op-ed writer would 違反 国家の 安全.

SPEAKING OF NATIONAL SECURITY

Trump told reporters Friday that 司法長官 Jeff 開会/開廷/会期s should 追求する the 身元 of the New York Times essay writer.

"Jeff should be 調査/捜査するing who the author of that piece was because I really believe it's 国家の 安全," the 大統領,/社長 said. If the person has a high-level 安全 通関手続き/一掃, Trump said, "I don't want him in those 会合s."

The 連邦検察局 and 司法(官) Department are 責任がある 調査/捜査するing 連邦の 罪,犯罪s, but there is no 指示,表示する物 of anything 違法な having been done in the 出版(物) of a newspaper opinion piece 批判的な of the 大統領,/社長. It is also 驚くべき/特命の/臨時の for a 大統領,/社長 to 需要・要求する an 調査 by the 司法(官) Department, which is supposed to make investigative and 非難する 決定/判定勝ち(する)s without White House 干渉,妨害.

The New York Times 選ぶd to publish the unsigned column, which 主張するs that a "静かな 抵抗" of 上級の 行政 公式の/役人s is "working diligently from within to 失望させる parts of his 協議事項 and his worst inclinations."

Trump earlier dared the Times to do what 新聞記者/雑誌記者s scrupulously 避ける: "If the GUTLESS 匿名の/不明の person does indeed 存在する, the Times must, for 国家の 安全 目的s, turn him/her over to 政府 at once!"

Asked if he would take any 活動/戦闘 against the Times, Trump said, "We're going to see, I'm looking at that 権利 now."

THE FALLOUT FROM THESE LEAKS

Trump was asked if, in light of the 調書をとる/予約する and column, he 信用 the people around him.

"I do, I do," he said. "But what I do is, now I look around the room and I say 'Hey I don't know somebody.'"

TRUTHTELLING TESTS

Nothing would stop Trump from directing his 補佐官s to 追跡(する) for leakers の中で 上級の 公式の/役人s.

Sen. ランド Paul, R-Ky., who 述べるs himself as a libertarian, says Trump would be 正当化するd using 嘘(をつく) detectors to find the 匿名の/不明の essay writer.

Trump wasn't 説 Friday whether he'd take the suggestion.

嘘(をつく) detectors wouldn't be reliable enough to 明らかにする the column author or other sources for sure, 熟考する/考慮するs and a 大規模な 連邦の 報告(する)/憶測 have 示すd. And polygraphs aren't 許容できる as 証拠 in 法廷,裁判所.

"At best they are unreliable. The question is how unreliable?" said Indiana University brain sciences professor Richard Shiffrin.

UNPLEASANT CONSEQUENCES

一方/合間, Trump is said to be 診察するing the language of the 否定s 問題/発行するd this week by the highest members of his 行政 or their spokespeople.

LEAK PROBES PAST

Trump would be far from the first 大統領,/社長 to 追跡(する) for leakers.

During his eight years in office, Barack?Obama's 司法(官) Department 起訴するd nine 事例/患者s against?whistleblowers?and leakers, compared to three by all other previous 行政s. In one of those 調査s, the 政府 内密に 掴むd 記録,記録的な/記録するs for telephone lines and switchboards that more than 100 reporters for The Associated 圧力(をかける) used in their Washington bureau and どこかよそで.

In June under the Trump 行政, Reality 勝利者, 26, pleaded 有罪の to a 選び出す/独身 count of transmitting 国家の 安全 (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状). The former 空気/公表する 軍隊 翻訳家 had worked as a 請負業者 at a 国家の 安全 機関 office in Augusta, Georgia, when she printed a 分類するd 報告(する)/憶測 and left the building with it hidden in her pantyhose. 勝利者 told the 連邦検察局 she mailed the 文書 to an online news 出口.
