Thompson gets the call at QB for Texas against Rice
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - The Steve Sarkisian 時代 at Texas is only two games old but has already dealt the Longhorns a 厳しい dose of humility and 誘発するd a quick quarterback change.
The Longhorns (1-1) went from No. 15 to unranked に引き続いて a blowout loss at Arkansas. A big bounce 支援する against Rice (0-2) on Saturday night is 推定する／予想するd, but what it will mean long-称する，呼ぶ／期間／用語 for 直す／買収する，八百長をするing the problems exposed last week likely can't be 手段d until the Big 12 schedule starts.
Sarkisian's "All Gas No ブレーキs" スローガン doesn't 含む 指示／教授／教育s how to navigate 危険な curves in the road. The coach 直面するd a 抱擁する one this week when he 選ぶd to （法廷の）裁判 second-year freshman Hudson Card to start Casey Thompson at quarterback against the フクロウs.
The hope is the fourth-year player can 供給する some 静める leadership after Sarkisian and Card's チーム仲間s 述べるd the freshman as "antsy" and 動揺させるd" in his first road game.
Thompson relieved Card late against Arkansas and led two touchdown 運動s after the game was already out of 手渡す.
"I think it´s fair to Casey to give him this 適切な時期," Sarkisian said. "We´re going to let him go and see what happens."

Thompson spent the last three seasons as the 最高の，を越す backup to Sam Ehlinger, but couldn't （警官の）巡回区域，受持ち区域 out Card for the starting 職業. He now has a chance to 掴む it and keep it. Card likely will still play Saturday if Texas, a 激しい favorite, builds a big lead.
"I don´t feel like I lost the 職業," Thompson said. "It just wasn´t my 適切な時期 at the time. They just chose to go with another guy."
Thompson considered transferring in 2018 when he wasn't playing. Not this time.
"I´m already in this thing, I´ve waited so long. There was no way I could just やめる and let up at this point," Thompson said.
Thompson said Sarkisian told him he doesn't have to be "superhuman" Saturday night, but to "just keep 存在 smart and 遂行する／発効させるing plays."

If he can't find space, Texas will struggle again.
DEFENSIVE FRONT
