HOW DID THE PROTESTS (米ソ間の)戦略兵器削減交渉? 抗議するs began soon after the Sept. 16 death of Kurdish Iranian woman Mahsa Amini, 22, who had been 逮捕(する)d by morality police three days earlier for 恐らく 侵害する/違反するing Iran's 義務的な Islamic dress code.

Amini, 述べるd as a shy person who minded her own 商売/仕事 and stayed (疑いを)晴らす of politics, was 拘留するd as she stepped out of a train 駅/配置する in Tehran. News of her death 循環させるd on social マスコミ. 抗議するs 爆発するd at her funeral in her hometown Saqez and then spread across the country with デモ参加者/実演宣伝者s 詠唱するing "Woman, life, freedom" in a furious challenge to Iran's clerical 支配者s. While Amini's family said she had been killed by blows to her 長,率いる and 四肢s, the 当局 said she had died 予定 to 存在するing 医療の problems, その上の fuelling 怒り/怒る over her death.

WHAT DID PROTESTERS WANT? With women and young people often at the 最前部, 抗議する人s 的d symbols of the Islamic 共和国, 燃やすing pictures of 最高の Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and 詠唱するing "Death to the 独裁者".

Women, 含むing schoolgirls, took off and 燃やすd headscarves, 反乱ing against 法律s 強いるing women to cover their hair and wear loose-fitting 着せる/賦与するs. The 抗議するs were 特に 激しい in areas home to 民族の 少数,小数派s that have long 直面するd 差別 by the 明言する/公表する, 含むing Kurds in the northwest and Baluchis in the southeast. 一方/合間, a growing number of women were 無視(する)ing the dress code. A 議会の volunteer 民兵, the Basij, played a 目だつ part in the 厳重取締. 権利s groups said over 500 people - 含むing 71 minors - were killed, hundreds 負傷させるd and thousands 逮捕(する)d. DID ANYTHING CHANGE?

Buttressed by the 革命の Guards, the 判決,裁定 エリート appears to remain 深く,強烈に 堅固に守るd in 力/強力にする にもかかわらず its 初期の difficulties in subduing the 抗議するs. Morality police 大部分は 消えるd from the streets after Amini died in their 保護/拘留. But as the 抗議するs fizzled they returned to streets and 監視 cameras were 任命する/導入するd to identify and penalise 明かすd women.

当局 述べるd the 隠す as "one of the 原則s of the Islamic 共和国" and ordered both 私的な and public 部門s to 否定する services to any women who had discarded it, 一時的に の近くにing thousands of 非,不,無-compliant 商売/仕事s.

But with many Iranians 説 the number of 明かすd women continues to grow, the 議会 is considering longer 刑務所,拘置所 条件 for anyone who 侮辱する/軽蔑するs the dress code and harsher 刑罰,罰則s for celebrities and 商売/仕事s that 侵害する/違反する the 支配するs. Outside Iran, Western countries 課すd new 許可/制裁s on 安全 軍隊s and on dozens of Iranian 公式の/役人s over the 抗議するs, furth er 緊張するing already difficult 関係.

HOW WILL IRAN'S LEADERS SHORE UP THEIR POSITION?

最近の 活動/戦闘s by 安全 軍隊s 示唆する Iran's 支配者s ーするつもりである to brook no flicker of dissent as the 周年記念日 of Amini's death approaches.

行動主義者s have (刑事)被告 当局 of a (選挙などの)運動をする to 脅迫してさせる and instil 恐れる, 逮捕(する)ing, 召喚するing for 尋問, 脅すing or 解雇する/砲火/射撃ing people connected to the 抗議するs.

新聞記者/雑誌記者s, lawyers, 行動主義者s, students, academics, artists, public 人物/姿/数字s and family members of killed 抗議する人s, 特に の中で 民族の 少数,小数派s, have been 的d in 最近の weeks.

Iranian 公式の/役人s have 非難するd the 不安 on foreign 敵s, 顕著に the U.S. and イスラエル, raising the 火刑/賭けるs for anybody 直面するing 逮捕(する).

However, in 割れ目ing 負かす/撃墜する they 危険 広げるing a 不和 between the clerical leadership and ordinary Iranians ますます 狼狽d by an economy 大打撃を与えるd by 許可/制裁s and mismanagement, a 可能性のある source of 未来 不安.
