Mets 星/主役にするs go to bat for new 経営者/支配人 Rojas

If the words of Cy Young Award 勝利者 Jacob deGrom and 国家の League 新人 of the Year Pete Alonso mean anything, the New York Mets 最終的に made the 権利 choice by 雇うing Luis Rojas as 経営者/支配人.

"Now we have Luis (Rojas) and I think we're looking 今後 to that," 権利-手渡すd エース deGrom said Saturday at the Mets Fan Fest at Citi Field. "I had him in the minor leagues. 広大な/多数の/重要な guy, 広大な/多数の/重要な 経営者/支配人. And last year 存在 up here, fun to be around, communicates 井戸/弁護士席 with everybody, so we're excited about that.

"Just knows the game of baseball really 井戸/弁護士席," 追加するd deGrom, a 国家の League Cy Young 勝利者 the past two seasons. "存在 around him last year, knows the game very 井戸/弁護士席. ... And you ask every guy in here who's been around him -- just a good baseball guy and a really good person."

Rojas, who was the team's 品質管理 coach last year, was 雇うd to be the Mets' new 経営者/支配人 on Thursday, 取って代わるing Carlos Beltran, who lost his 職業 in the wake of the Houston Astros' 調印する-stealing スキャンダル.

Rojas has been coaching and managing in the Mets organization since 2006. He interviewed for New York's 管理の vacancy after the team 解雇する/砲火/射撃d Mickey Callaway in October, but Beltran got the 職業.

"I think the stuff that happened with Carlos is very unfortunate," said Alonso, who also appeared at the fan 条約 on Saturday. "He's very knowledgeable about the game, but I think Luis is gonna do an 絶対 excellent 職業.''

Alonso, who led the major leagues in ホームランs with 53 in 2019 to break the 新人 示す 始める,決める by Aaron 裁判官 (52) of the New York Yankees two years ago, also played for Rojas in the minors at 二塁打-A Binghamton in 2017 and 2018.

"The dude never loses his 冷静な/正味の,'' said Alonso, an All-星/主役にする first baseman in 2019 who went on to bat .260 with 30 (テニスなどの)ダブルス and 120 打点s. "He never 攻撃する,衝突するs the panic button. He's always so 用意が出来ている. He doesn't just use his knowledge of the game, he uses his instincts very, very 井戸/弁護士席 . He's paid his 予定s managing in the minor leagues, he's paid his 予定s managing in the Dominican .''

DeGrom, who went 11-8 with a 2.43 ERA in 32 starts, striking out an NL-best 255 in 204 innings for a third-place team in 2019, just wants the Mets to forget about their 最近の past and concentrate on the 未来 while 準備するing for another spring training.

"Our main 焦点(を合わせる) is on what we need to do," he said.
