Pharmacist 雇用 in 小売 settings 回復するd to its pre-pandemic levels, while 非，不，無-小売 settings—hospitals, 内科医 offices, outpatient 中心s, and home healthcare—continued to 追加する positions. For 2022, nearly half of pharmacists now work in 非，不，無-小売 practice settings.
普通の／平均（する） base salaries for 小売 pharmacists grew for the first time in three years, to about $124,000. What’s more, 小売 salaries grew at the fastest 率 in years—反映するing the 地位，任命する-pandemic 雇用 環境. Pharmacists 雇うd by hospitals and other 非，不，無-小売 settings also saw higher salaries, which 普通の／平均（する）d about $139, 000. 十分な salary data below for your enjoyment or 悲しみ.

We rely on data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor 統計（学） (BLS). 詳細（に述べる）s on the data and our methodology appear at the 底（に届く） of this article. Our 観察s about the 最近の 雇用 and salary 傾向s:
- 全体にわたる 小売 pharmacist 雇用 回復するd in 2022. The BLS 報告（する）／憶測d that there were more than 182,000 pharmacists 雇うd at all 小売 outpatient settings: chain drugstores, 独立した・無所属 pharmacies, supermarkets, 集まり merchants, and mail pharmacies.
For 2021, 小売 pharmacist 雇用 had 拒絶する／低下するd by about 7,000. 雇用 in 2022 回復するd to a level that was 概略で equal to 2020’s pre-pandemic 人物／姿／数字. However, total 雇用 in 小売 settings has 拒絶する／低下するd from its 頂点（に達する） of about 189,000 pharmacists in 2017.
- Hospitals and 内科医 offices continue to grow as a source of pharmacist 雇用. Total U.S. pharmacist 雇用 has grown, from more than 286,000 in 2013 to more than 325,000 in 2022. The 株 of pharmacists 雇うd in 非，不，無-小売 settings—hospitals, 内科医 offices, outpatient care 中心s, and home health—grew 意味ありげに during this period, from 27% in 2013 to 33% in 2022. その結果, pharmacist 雇用 at 非，不，無-小売 settings grew by about 28,000 from 2013 to 2022.

INCOME OUTCOMES

- 小売 pharmacists' salaries grew in 2022. 全体にわたる 普通の／平均（する） salaries across all 産業 settings were $129,410—a 3.0% 増加する over the 2021 人物／姿／数字 of $125,690. However, those in 小売 outpatient dispensing 判型s experienced the fastest growth in 普通の／平均（する） 給料 since 2021 (+2.5%; orange line in chart below).
These 人物／姿／数字s 反映する the 地位，任命する-pandemic 環境 in 小売 pharmacy. During 2022, some chain pharmacies 申し込む／申し出d 調印 特別手当s up to $75,000 to pharmacists まっただ中に a chronic 不足 of pharmacists and pharmacy 専門家技術者s. CVS and Walmart have 減ずるd their pharmacy hours 予定 to a 不足 of pharmacists willing to work in 小売 settings. Last week, Walmart 発表するd higher salaries for its 3,700 pharmacists, who will now earn base salaries 普通の／平均（する）ing $140,000.
Salary growth for pharmacists working in hospitals remained strong (+4.1%; green line in chart below). Pharmacists working in home health care had the fastest growth of any major practice setting (+11.6%; not shown in chart below).

- The salary gap between a pharmacy owner and an 雇うd 小売 pharmacist has grown for the fourth year. Our 分析 of 産業 調査する data 示すs that the 普通の／平均（する） pharmacist owning a 選び出す／独身 pharmacy earned over $200,000 in 2021 (the most 最近の year for which data are 利用できる). Owning a pharmacy, with all of its hassles and 義務s, remains more lucrative than 存在 an 従業員. We rely on the 2022 Occupational 雇用 and 行う 統計（学） (OEWS) program (以前は known as the Occupational 雇用 統計（学） acara) from the Bureau of Labor 統計（学） (BLS). BLS and the 明言する／公表する 全労働人口 機関s (SWAs) 共同製作する on the OEWS 調査する. BLS 基金s the 調査する and dictates its structure, while the SWAs collect most of the data. The OEWS 調査する categorizes 労働者s by 詳細（に述べる）d 占領／職業s based on the 基準 Occupational 分類 (SOC) system. For more on these data, see the OEWS FAQ page.
The Pharmacist 占領／職業 code is 29-1051. The SOC defines pharmacists’ 役割s as follows:
“Dispense 麻薬s 定める／命ずるd by 内科医s and other health practitioners and 供給する （警察などへの）密告，告訴（状） to 患者s about 医薬s and their use. May advise 内科医s and other health practitioners on the 選択, 投薬量, interactions, and 味方する 影響s of 医薬s.”Using these data, we identified pharmacists working in さまざまな 小売 and 非，不，無-小売 settings based on the NAICS (North American 産業 分類 System).
For the 2022 OEWS, BLS updated from the 2017 NAICS to the 2022 NAICS. Data on pharmacists that had been coded to mail ph armacy 設立s within the 産業 code NAICS 4541 (“Electronic Shopping and Mail-Order Houses”) were placed 支援する into the corresponding 小売 NAICS shown in the （米）棚上げする／（英）提議する above. その結果, the 人物／姿／数字s for the 小売 outpatient subcategories will not be 正確に 類似の to the 人物／姿／数字s 報告（する）／憶測d in our previous 分析. For clarity, we have 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる）d the NAICS 2022 codes that correspond to each practice setting.
A few more items of 公式文書，認める:
- BLS 計算するs the 年次の 行う data by multiplying an hourly mean 行う by a "year-一連の会議、交渉／完成する, 十分な-time" 人物／姿／数字 of 2,080 hours. These data 除外する 特別手当s and 雇用者 costs of nonwage 利益s, such as health 保険 and 出資／貢献s to 退職 計画（する）s.
- Pharmacists 雇うd by an 独立した・無所属 pharmacy are 含むd, as are paid owners and officers of 会社にする／組み込むd 独立した・無所属 pharmacies. However, the data 除外する 商売／仕事 owners and partners in unincorporated pharmacies.
- The data show the 場所 of 雇用 as a "pharmacist." They do not 明示する the 義務s that the pharmacists 成し遂げる or the （独立の）存在 that operates the pharmacy.
- The NAICS 産業 code “446110 Pharmacies and 麻薬 蓄える／店s” 含むs 麻薬 蓄える／店s, pharmacies, and on-場所／位置 institutional pharmacies. Thus, a pharmacist 雇うd in a hospital’s 小売 outpatient pharmacy may be 分類するd as an 従業員 of a 小売 pharmacy.
