JANET STREET-PORTER: Why is the Beeb so in love with Gregg Wallace? He's NEVER off our 審査するs - are they too 脅すd to silence a shouty bloke who has become their 記念品 working-class hero?

Gregg Wallace is REALLY UPSET because a lot of people seem to find the way he spends his 週末s rather 半端物. After rising at 5am, the former greengrocer and barrow boy reads a 調書をとる/予約する about a ロシアの nobleman for an hour, 長,率いるs to the gym (which opens 早期に just for him), 作品 out and then dashes off to the 地元の Harvester to shovel 負かす/撃墜する a 抱擁する fry-up with his PA at 10.30am. Ninety minutes later, the telly presenter and 最近の lifestyle guru is 支援する at home eating a healthy home-made lunch with his lovely wife and her Italian parents. That's a lot to digest.

I worked with Gregg when competing on two 一連の Celebrity Masterchef, and got to know him pretty 井戸/弁護士席, from his noisy rants onscreen to his 最近の obsession with fitness. You may find it surprising that after years in the 残虐な world of telly, I'm not 脅すd of ANYONE, but any 遭遇(する) with Gregg can be a difficult experience. I'll be treading on eggshells and offence can easily be taken.

He's thin-skinned, a combination of bravado and strident self-昇進/宣伝 連合した with low self-esteem and sensitivity. A man who goes on the attack with his 恐ろしい jokes and foghorn 発言する/表明する (I know, マリファナ and kettle) before you can get a word in edgeways. When he sees me, he always gets a putdown in first. I can を取り引きする that, but then starts blabbering on without 製図/抽選 breath about whatever he's trying to flog. He 明確に thinks my 職業 is to give Gregg space and shut up! And don't ever criticise - he'll suddenly morph into sarky mean Gregg at the 減少(する) of a hat. God forbid an interviewer is 認めるd equal time in any 遭遇(する).

This time around, the talking tannoy is upset because some 汚い souls on social マスコミ criticised him for 暗示するing he only had his adorable son to please his wife Anna, 21 years his junior. In the excruciating description of his 週末, he appears to 始める,決める aside just a couple of hours to play with his adorable son Sid who has been 診断するd with 非,不,無-言葉の autism.

If you read the entire piece, it's (疑いを)晴らす he loves his son, and a touching bit of honesty about 存在 the 裁判,公判s of 存在 a n older dad has been taken out of 状況.

Gregg is steaming (I 嫌疑者,容疑者/疑う) because people are poking fun at his preposterous 試みる/企てるs at self-改良 - the step-counting, the manifesting, the 利益/興味 in history, the War Games. He 明白に agreed to the article to 促進する his 商売/仕事 利益/興味s, managing to plug his healthy living website (年次の subscription £89.99), the 地元の 支店 of Harvester, his 近づいている 一連の BBC1's Masterchef, his new podcast A Piece of Cake, and his 地元の fishmonger. Fair enough.

Anyone stupid enough to 始める,決める out their daily 決まりきった仕事 is bound to look like a pretentious twat to the 残り/休憩(する) of us loafers. Remember Hollywood 星/主役にする and former rapper 示す Wahlberg 明らかにする/漏らすing he woke up at 2.30am to pray, finally going to bed at 7.30pm and spending most of the time when he wasn't praying working out in the gym or 氷点の in a cryochamber to fight the ageing 過程. It was hilarious. Mind you, he's 価値(がある) something like $450million now, so the praying worked.

I do not get up at 5am and never go to sleep till midnight. I certainly don't 長,率いる to a Harvester for anything I can make myself but, によれば Gregg, his time is so precious he 準備するs just one meal a week for the family.

My day is as 無作為の as yours. I shout at rubbish on the telly and waste ages trying to (警官の)巡回区域,受持ち区域 a computer at scrabble.

I moan at my cabbage 工場/植物s for not growing, so I suppose Gregg and I have some little habits in ありふれた. Not enough to get me a 職業 hosting a major series on BBC1 though!

This unlikely Casanova has even managed to get a gig promoting Valentine's Day - posing naked apart from thousands of strategically placed red roses

Here's the astonishing truth: BBC bosses 血まみれの love Gregg Wallace. He's never off the 審査する. No woman of his age could ever compete with the cheery cockney, certainly not one wearing glasses with a bald 長,率いる shouting at the 最高の,を越す of their 発言する/表明する.

It doesn't seem to 事柄 that many 女性(の) テレビ視聴者s find Gregg a bit weird - and his blokey humour can occasionally land him in trouble. He left the 高度に successful BBC2 series Inside the Factory in 2023 (after 現在のing it for five years) に引き続いて 報告(する)/憶測s that he made some 女性(の) staff 'feel uncomfortable' when filming at the Nestle factory in York.

Gregg was distraught, 説 'I use humour to relax people…I never 始める,決める out to 感情を害する/違反する'. But his joking can be a bit 残虐な, designed to put off the Masterchef contestants and anyone he thinks is a 脅し- this is definitely a Marmite character. No 女性(の) presenter would ever be 許容するd for 存在 so rude, but look at Alan Sugar… 二塁打 基準s!

Do BBC bosses 削減(する) Gregg some slack because he's from the working class and they're terrified that critics see them as too middle class: Hampstead talking to Chiswick?

Could this obsession with attracting lower income blokes to watch the BBC be the 推論する/理由 米,稲 McGuinness appeared on Question Time this week? Although there were some (民事の)告訴s, 米,稲 did not come across negatively and attracted plenty of compliments for his opinions on 労働's chances of winning the next 選挙.

If Greg has had a 証拠不十分 in the past, it's women. Like me, he's has been married four times. Wife number one left after just six weeks. Wife two - Denise, a former pastry chef - is the mother of his eldest children, Tom and Libby. How Gregg met his その後の partners is somewhat unusual. Wife number three, Heidi Brown, a teacher, caught his attention when she asked him a question on Twitter about celery (really) and although they married a year later, it lasted just 15 months. 現在の wife Anna (機の)カム to Greg's attention when she tweeted asking if rhubarb really went with duck. Greg 収容する/認めるs he was impressed by her photo and one thing led to another. They became engaged and married in 2016, with his co-host from Masterchef, John Torode, 事実上の/代理 as best man.

Having failed in 商売/仕事 three times, Greg is 明確に 決定するd this time around his new 投機・賭けるs 促進するing healthy living and 負わせる loss should 後継する. But he doesn't have to tell us he's an amateur historian, a keen reader, an 熱心な step 反対する and that he had shed half his 団体/死体 負わせる.

This ありそうもない Casanova has even managed to get a gig 促進するing Valentine's Day - 提起する/ポーズをとるing n aked apart from thousands of strategically placed red roses. 基金d by Smarty 動きやすい, he'll be 手渡すing out 解放する/自由な bouquets tomorrow on London's South Bank.

Don't all 急ぐ.
