UK 始める,決める to 認可する first new 抗生物質 in more than 20 years that kills superbugs, which 原因(となる) 1.7 million UTIs every year, and outperforms 麻薬 現在/一般に 利用できる to NHS 患者s

  • 熟考する/考慮する shows 抗生物質?gepotidacin is 最高潮の場面?効果的な for bladder 感染s
  • GSK, who developed the 麻薬, are in 会談 to greenlight it for use on the NHS

The first new 抗生物質 in more than 20 years that is 有能な of 扱う/治療するing agonising bladder 感染s is 始める,決める to be 認可するd in the UK after a groundbreaking 熟考する/考慮する 明らかにする/漏らすd it was 高度に 効果的な.

The 麻薬, called gepotidacin, outperformed one of the 抗生物質s 現在/一般に used to 扱う/治療する NHS 患者s 苦しむing from the 感染s, curing more than half the 関係者s who took it.

専門家s believe gepotidacin ? which was discovered in Britain ? 代表するs a 抱擁する step 今後 in the fight against 抗生物質 抵抗, because the bugs have not had a chance to become 抵抗力のある to its attacks.

These 麻薬-抵抗力のある bugs are 責任がある tens of thousands of 積極的な, repeating urinary tract 感染s (UTIs) every year in the UK.

GSK, the 製薬の 会社/堅い which developed the 麻薬, is in discussions with UK 医療の regulators about green-lighting gepotidacin for NHS 患者s with 麻薬-抵抗力のある 感染s.

Dozens of people in the UK have already received the 治療 as part of the 世界的な 裁判,公判, the results of which were 現在のd yesterday at a 科学の congress in Copenhagen.

'This 麻薬 申し込む/申し出s hope for 患者s living with 頻発する UTIs who are in need of a new 治療,' says Dr Aruni Mulgirigama at GSK.

'This is a 条件 which can 混乱に陥れる/中断させる 患者s' lives, leaving them 疲労,(軍の)雑役d by the experience of 絶えず fighting these 感染s. The data shows this 麻薬 helps those most at 危険 of these 感染s.'

Up to 1.7 million Britons ? the 大多数 of whom are women ? を煩う chronic UTIs, classed as three or more 感染s a year. Symptoms 含む a 燃やすing 苦痛 when going to the 洗面所, going more often than usual and feeling as if you need to go when the bladder is empty.

In older 患者s, the 感染 can 原因(となる) a dementia-like 条件 called delirium. There is also a 危険 of sepsis, which accounts for about 50,000 deaths a year.

While there are a number of 抗生物質s 有能な of 扱う/治療するing UTIs, these 薬/医学s have, over time, become いっそう少なく 効果的な because bacteria are 有能な of building up 抵抗 to 抗生物質s.

熟考する/考慮するs 示唆する the NHS 扱う/治療するs about 150 麻薬-抵抗力のある bacterial 感染s every day. Some 見積(る)s 示唆する that as many as 10,000 people in the UK die every year 予定 to these superbugs.

However, developing new 抗生物質s is time-消費するing and expensive and many major 製薬の 会社/堅いs no longer 投資する in 抗生物質 研究. This means that, にもかかわらず the rising 脅し of superbugs, no new 抗生物質 has been developed in more than two 10年間s.

However, gepotidacin ? first created in Stevenage ? could soon break this 悪口を言う/悪態. The new data shows that more than 50 per cent of 患者s who were given the 麻薬 saw their UTI cured. By comparison, nitrofurantoin, a 一般的に used UTI 抗生物質, (疑いを)晴らすs the 感染s in 47 per cent of 患者s.

Crucially, the 裁判,公判 shows that gepotidacin is 効果的な against 麻薬 抵抗力のある forms of E.coli, the most ありふれた bug that 誘発する/引き起こすs a UTI.

It was also successful in 扱う/治療するing 患者s with a history of 頻発する UTIs 同様に as those over 50, who are most at 危険 of 苦しむing 厳しい UTI symptoms.

専門家s believe gepotidacin could 利益 thousands. 'It's 広大な/多数の/重要な news it has been shown to be such a useful new 治療 to 戦闘 UTIs,' says Dr Cat Anderson, a GP and women's health specialist. 'We have waited a long time for a new 抗生物質.'
