In an 早期に 裁判，公判 of the 麻薬 ? which is known as NX-5948, and is so new it doesn't have a 指名する ? a 59-year-old 患者 who had run out of 治療 選択s and had only months to live, has seen his 癌 all but disappear after he began taking the pills.
Joe Murphy, from Hulme, Greater Manchester, is only the second 患者 in the world to be 申し込む／申し出d the 治療 at The Christie NHS 創立／基礎 信用, and he says it brought him '支援する from the brink'.
The former 妨げる／法廷，弁護士業 経営者／支配人 was 診断するd with an 積極的な form of chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) in 2015, which had recently spread to his spinal fluid and brain.
The 病気, which 原因（となる）s 異常な white 血 独房s to build up in the 血 and bone 骨髄, can at first be controlled using tablets, which 許す 患者s to live for nearly a １０年間 more after diagnosis.

However, over time, the 癌 独房s become 抵抗力のある to 治療s. This means that, for 患者s 診断するd at a younger age, there is a desperate need for more 薬／医学s. CLL kills more than 1,000 people in the UK every year.
Last year, Joe stopped 答える／応じるing to the third 麻薬 he'd been on to 支配（する）／統制する his 癌. He lost more than a ４半期/4分の1 of his bodyweight and , as his 免疫の system 弱めるd, had been hospitalised with sepsis and meningitis.
But today, thanks to the fact he was 申し込む／申し出d the 開拓するing 麻薬, 実験（する）s show almost no 証拠 of 病気. 'I wouldn't be here today if it weren't for the 裁判，公判,' Joe said. 'After the third 治療 failed, I was 準備するing to die. I was not in a good place.
'But this 麻薬 has kept me alive and 井戸／弁護士席 since June last year. It's incredible ? like something out of a sci-fi movie.?

While doctors don't know how long it might keep the 病気 at bay, Joe says he is now '希望に満ちた' and can look 今後 to celebrating his 60th birthday in December.
CLL, which 影響する／感情s more than 4,500 Britons every year, is the most ありふれた adult 血 癌 and makes up 38 per cent of all leukaemia 事例／患者s.?
Around 40 per cent are 老年の 75 and older. People with a family history of CLL are more likely to get the 病気.
