I'm 85 and no longer fit to 運動. But when I took my 指名する off my wife's 保険, Tesco Bank 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金d us £118 MORE: SALLY SORTS IT

I am a 指名するd driver on my 79-year-old wife’s 包括的な Tesco Bank car 保険. The 賞与金 rose at 再開 from £508 to £1,127, though my wife managed to 交渉する it 負かす/撃墜する to £908.?

一方/合間, I have been …に出席するing an optometrist for several months for 二塁打 見通し and 宣言するd this on 再開 of my 運動ing licence. I am 85 and advised not to 運動.?

I called Tesco Bank to request my 除去 from cover. I 推定する/予想するd a 削減 in the 賞与金 but was shocked to be told not only would there be no 割引 in the price, but I would have to 支払う/賃金 them £118.?

I 拒絶する/低下するd to 取り消す as I thought this absurd ― and I told them so.

D.J., Kettering, Northants.

Sally Hamilton replies: Tesco Bank’s 返答 to your eyesight predicament seemed high-手渡すd and I can 高く評価する/(相場などが)上がる how annoyed you felt. Not only were you 直面するd with the lifestyle-changing 失望 of having to give up your licence after 68 years but a 汚い 財政上の 刑罰,罰則 for giving up 保険 cover you couldn’t use.

You did the 権利 thing telling the Drivers and 乗り物 Licensing 機関 about your 二塁打 見通し, known as diplopia. It is one of six 注目する,もくろむ 条件s 運転者s must be up 前線 about with the 機関. Drivers can be 罰金d up to £1,000 if they omit to について言及する any 医療の 条件 that 影響する/感情s their 運動ing and can 危険 起訴 if they’re 伴う/関わるd in an 事故 as a result.

I asked Tesco Bank to look at your 事例/患者 again and explain why it was 非難する you extra for a whole person’s 価値(がある) いっそう少なく cover. It (機の)カム 支援する to say this 計算/見積り was normal for its 商売/仕事 in such circumstances. A 広報担当者 says: ‘保険 賞与金s are 査定する/(税金などを)課すd on a 範囲 of 危険 factors, one of which is whether a couple is insured on the same 政策. Where this is the 事例/患者, we 適用する a 割引 to the 賞与金.’

There is some method in this 明らかな madness. The 保険会社 says its (人命などを)奪う,主張するs data 示唆する that a couple insured on the same モーター 政策 are いっそう少なく likely to make a (人命などを)奪う,主張する than a 選び出す/独身 driver and therefore can earn a 割引.

The lost 割引 on your 賞与金, 連合させるd with a 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金 for adjusting it take account of the period before your 除去 from cover, (機の)カム to £118. Tesco Bank 譲歩するs it could have been clearer in its 交流s with you about why it calculates its 賞与金s this way. The 広報担当者 says: ‘We recognise we could have done more to explain the 衝撃 of 除去するing his 指名する from the 共同の 政策 when he 接触するd us. We’ve since spoken to D.J. and arranged to 除去する him from the 政策 as requested and have 復帰させるd the 割引 on the 賞与金 as a gesture of 好意/親善.’ It also agreed to waive the £40 取り消し 料金 (適用するd if 政策s are cancelled after the 初期の 14-day 冷静な/正味のing off period), should your wife decide to take a 引用する from another 保険会社.

When I caught up with you last week, you told me you were now 回復するing 井戸/弁護士席 from 外科 on your 権利 注目する,もくろむ and still were having 問題/発行するs with the other 注目する,もくろむ. You said your wife decided to stick with Tesco’s 政策 ― but 追加するd your 55-year-old son as a second driver. This also led to a 割引 ― but just £16, which means the total 賞与金 was £892.

I have been a 顧客 of Barclays for 31 years. Although I no longer live in the UK, my accounts have remained active. In late November last year, I phoned the bank after my card kept 存在 拒絶する/低下するd and I couldn’t 接近 my accounts online. I was told they had been の近くにd because I live in Australia.?

The bank said it had written to me giving me the (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) ― 含むing a unique 言及/関連 number (URN) ― to let me switch my money out of the account.?

I never received any letters. I 完全にするd a 埋め立てる form that I downloaded from the bank’s website and wrote a covering letter ― explaining I’d had no 警告 of the 終結 nor a URN ―and sent it by 登録(する)d 地位,任命する on December 11.?

I received a reply in 早期に February which was 時代遅れの a month earlier, 含む/封じ込めるing another form and requesting I send it with the URN. I spent 45 minutes on the phone explaining the 状況/情勢 again ― but was continually asked for the 言及/関連 number that I never received. What can I do?

C.P., Perth, Australia.

Can Sally Sorts It help you??

Do you have a 消費者 problem you need help with? Email Sally Hamilton at sally@dailymail.co.uk?― 含む phone number, 演説(する)/住所 and a 公式文書,認める 演説(する)/住所d to the 感情を害する/違反するing organisation giving them 許可 to talk to Sally Hamilton.?

Please do not send 初めの 文書s as we cannot take 責任/義務 for them.?

No 合法的な 責任/義務 can be 受託するd by the Daily Mail or This Is Money for answers given.?

Sally Hamilton replies: You explained to me that you have had two accounts with Barclays since you were 15 years old. Money comes in to them from rent on a flat part owned with your dad and sister in the UK, 同様に as 正規の/正選手 birthday and Christmas cash gifts paid in by family for your children. The balance at the time the account was shuttered was just over £3,000.

Your 状況/情勢 (機の)カム about because Barclays decided four years ago to stop 申し込む/申し出ing accounts to people overseas without a UK 演説(する)/住所 and has been 徐々に の近くにing those accounts already in place.

Other banks took 類似の 活動/戦闘 with 顧客s in 確かな European countries after the UK left the EU. Under Barclays’ 支配するs 顧客s can only run their accounts with an 演説(する)/住所 outside the UK if they are working outside the UK for six months or いっそう少なく, or they are 雇うd by organisations such as the 武装した 軍隊s or 外交の service. People 持つ/拘留するing 力/強力にする of 弁護士/代理人/検事 on a 顧客’s account might also be 許すd to have an 演説(する)/住所 abroad.

Barclays told me it wrote to you about a year ago giving several months’ notice that the account was to be の近くにd and 輪郭(を描く)ing your 選択s. The (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) sent 含むd 詳細(に述べる)d 指示/教授/教育s for other 手はず/準備 for your banking, such as 身を引くing or transferring balances, and downloading any 声明s or (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) you needed. Barclays says two その上の 思い出の品s were 問題/発行するd, 含む/封じ込めるing the URN. You never received any of these.

While your problems have probably been 構内/化合物d by the international 郵便の service, Barclays did not make your life 平易な when you tried to 解決する 事柄s by phone. It would not send the URN by email or tell you it over the phone, for example.

Barclays 確認するd it received the downloaded 埋め立てる forms you sent in January, but could not 行為/法令/行動する on your 指示/教授/教育s because they did not 含む/封じ込める the URN. This is にもかかわらず someone on the phone telling you this would not 事柄 if you explained the 問題/発行する in a covering 公式文書,認める.

After my 介入, Barclays sent you another letter with fresh forms and URN, which happily arrived 安全に. You have now 完全にするd and returned these, and you told me recently that the money has finally been 解放(する)d. You thanked me for my help.

All is not lost regarding your UK banking. You and your husband 持つ/拘留する a rarely used 共同の account with Halifax, which until recently 含む/封じ込めるd a balance of just £15. You were worried this would 苦しむ the same 運命/宿命 as your Barclays accounts but were relieved to be 保証するd by Halifax that it would not の近くに it. You have now redirected your 賃貸しの income to that account.

A Barclays 広報担当者 says: ‘Our Barclays UK 製品s are designed for 顧客s within the UK. Barclays UK is no longer 申し込む/申し出ing personal 現在の or 貯金 accounts to 小売 顧客s who have an 演説(する)/住所 outside the UK 登録(する)d with us, with 限られた/立憲的な exceptions. This 顧客 was given six months’ notice of this 決定/判定勝ち(する) before account 終結 and (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) explaining the next steps they needed to take.’
