'It's the most 進歩/革新的な 王室の portrait done from life in a very long time. It 描写するs 連続, mystery, a touch of divinity.?

'Modern art is 破壊分子, edgy. It's very different from the normal public offerings but Johnny has done it in my 見解(をとる). How do you paint a modern 君主? He's pulled it off.'

Today, Yeo spoke of a バタフライ on the portrait echoing Charles's 'metamorphosis' from Prince to King during the 過程 - and the 君主 joked that it was nice to know he was a chrysalis.

Yeo 追加するd: 'People often say is there a secret to doing a good portrait? And I say I don't know really. 現実に I think there is one, and that's having an 利益/興味ing 支配する to start with. And you couldn't ask for a better one than this, other than Her Majesty.'?

As he gestured に向かって Camilla - whom he also painted a portrait of in 2014 - the comment was 迎える/歓迎するd with much laughter by those gathered in the palace.?

Queen Camilla was heard to congratulate Yeo, 宣言するing it 'fantastic' and kissed him 温かく on each cheek.

The canvas size - だいたい 8.5ft by 6.5ft でっちあげる,人を罪に陥れるd - was carefully considered to fit within the architecture of Drapers' Hall and the 状況 of the 絵s it will 結局 hang と一緒に.

Yeo had four sittings with The King, beginning when His Majesty was Prince of むちの跡s in June 2021 at Highgrove, and later at Clarence House.

The last sitting took place in November 2023 at Clarence House.

He also worked from 製図/抽選s and photography he took of His Majesty, 許すing him to work on the portrait in his London studio between sittings.

Yeo said: 'It was a 特権 and 楽しみ to have been (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限d by The Drapers' Company to paint this portrait of His Ma jesty The King, the first to be 明かすd since his 載冠(式)/即位(式).

'When I started this 事業/計画(する), His Majesty The King was still His 王室の Highness The Prince of むちの跡s, and much like the バタフライ I've painted hovering over his shoulder, this portrait has 発展させるd as the 支配する's 役割 in our public life has transformed.

'I do my best to 逮捕(する) the life experiences etched into any individual sitter's 直面する. In this 事例/患者, my 目的(とする) was also to make 言及/関連 to the traditions of 王室の portraiture but in a way that 反映するs a 21st Century 君主国 and, above all else, to communicate the 支配する's 深い humanity.

At Buckingham Palace, Charles and Queen Camilla were met by The Master of The Drapers' Company, Tom Harris and Past Master, William Charnley.

As the King?明かすd the first 公式の/役人 完全にするd portrait of himself as 君主 showing his 'metamorphosis' from prince to 君主, he exclaimed at the 負わせる of the covering.

'Christ', the King exclaimed, as he pulled the 巨大(な) red 屈服する 持つ/拘留するing it up.

'I wondered what the でっちあげる,人を罪に陥れる was going to be like,' said His Majesty. for whom the 絵 wasn't a 完全にする surprise. He had 明らかに seen it when it was 'two thirds' finished.

'It is remarkable, 現実に, how it has turned out. '

'Has it changed that much since you last saw it?' the artist asked.

Yeo said to the sound of chuckles: 'Someone asked if I get nervous about unveilings and the answer is not 普通は. But then the 支配する doesn't 普通は become King half way through the 過程.

'It's a joy and honour to be here. I want to thank…above all the 支配する for 信用ing me with it and giving me so much of his time.

'People often say is there a secret to doing a good portrait and…that's having an 利益/興味ing 支配する to start with.'

Yeo, who has also painted Queen Camilla, 追加するd to その上の laughs: ' I couldn't wish for a better one than this, other than Her Majesty.'

Explaining his 見通し - and that バタフライ - he said: 'I won't bang on about the picture except to explain two artistic pieces of licence. One is the colour, 明白に, which was 奮起させるd by the colour of the 有望な red tunic of the Welsh Guards. And that got me thinking it would be lovely to take the colour and spray it around the picture.

'The uniform and the メダルs are 広大な/多数の/重要な 言及/関連s to historic 王室の portraits of the past but it felt like this one should have a bit more dynamic and 同時代の feel. And hopefully it does that. But hopefully at the same time it 許すs the 焦点(を合わせる) to be on the 直面する and the 注目する,もくろむs, which feel like a very informal part of it.

'The other thing is the バタフライ. I would love to take 十分な credit for that but it was 現実に the 支配する's idea. '

'Was it?' Charles interjected, laughing.

Yeo continued: 'We had a conversation at the start about how it nice to would be to have a narrative element which 言及/関連d his passion for nature and the 環境. And he said what about a バタフライ on my shoulder, they often do that. I thought 'ooh, that's a good idea, I wish I had thought of that'. It also 作品 as a 反対する point to the 軍の steeliness of the sword. It is a little visual 装置.

'And then when he changed 職業s half way through the 過程 it 追加するd resonance because in art history 条件 you have the metamorphosis. It's nice a little simple visual 装置 like that tells 多重の stories. And perhaps it's testament to the 支配する's own artistic instinct that he brought such a lovely, beautiful element into the composition.

'The 広大な/多数の/重要な joy and 特権 of my 職業 is that I get to paint some 明確に very amazing people and get to s pend some unique time with them. And you feel it your 責任/義務 as an artist to communicate what you sew and experience and try to get it の上に canvas and hopefully it does that with his warmth and 親切 and curiosity and humour and the 深い humanity of the king. '

Charles joked: 'It was nice to know I was a chrysalis when you first met me. 井戸/弁護士席 thank you and congratulations. Fantastic. '

When it was pointed out that the バタフライ was, in fact, a 君主 バタフライ, Yeo said: 'Yes another bit of artistic licence. It was 指名するd after William of Orange, I think, 初めは. Because it was orange. They are the ones most in danger. '

The King replied: 'I have seen them in that 驚くべき/特命の/臨時の part of Mexico in a remarkable forest. Thousands of them. But it is 驚くべき/特命の/臨時の how バタフライs do come and l and on your shoulder if you are in the garden or something. I think it's lucky if they land on you, do you know what I mean?'
