EXCLUSIVE悲劇の 落ちる of aristocrat who's 68th in line to the 王位: He's lived a sad life of sleeping rough and spice 中毒. But he was raised in 'Downton Abbey' and is godson of The 栄冠を与える's Tommy Lascelles. RICHARD KAY 明らかにする/漏らすs what went wrong...

  • Rowan Lascelles is 68th in line to the 王位 and has an ancestral home that’s an architectural treasure
  • But now he 直面するs yet another reprehensible public order 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金

Rowan Lascelles, if 外見s and lineage were the only 手段 of a man, looked to have it all. A distant cousin of the King, he has a distinguished aristocratic 指名する and an ancestral home that is one of the architectural treasures of Britain, with a world-class collection of artworks.

Almost 正確に/まさに 23 years ago, Lascelles was one of 25 人物/姿/数字s 組み立てる/集結するd in a unique photo montage created by the magazine Country Life to 祝う/追悼する the 100th 周年記念日 of Queen Victoria’s death.

All those photographed were 子孫s of Victoria’s 延長するd family, and on Lascelles’s 直面する there is the smile of a young man ready for the 適切な時期s that life may have ahead of him: happy, 確信して and seemingly carefree.

It is just the 肉親,親類d of picture, one imagines, that everyone else in the でっちあげる,人を罪に陥れる would 持つ/拘留する dear, 明白な 証拠 of their place in a 広大な/多数の/重要な 王室の 王朝. Did Rowan, then 23, keep a copy?

Today, the only 利用できる picture of him is of a man, now approaching middle age, snarling into the camera as he 直面するs the consequences in 法廷,裁判所 for yet another reprehensible public order offence.

In the years since that magazine montage appeared in 2001, Lascelles, 46, has failed to come の近くに to realising any of that youthful 約束. What he has done is to amass a string of 有罪の判決s 範囲ing from 人種上 悪化させるd 強襲,強姦 and 人種上 悪化させるd 脅すing behaviour to 原因(となる)ing 犯罪の 損失.

Last week, a war rant for his 逮捕(する) was 問題/発行するd after he was 罪人/有罪を宣告するd in his absence of 投げつけるing 人種差別主義者 乱用 in a McDonald’s restaurant and 脅すing to を刺す a charity 労働者.

So relentless has been his anti-social behaviour that a police officer was moved at one 審理,公聴会 to 述べる Lascelles as a ‘重荷(を負わせる) on the 主要都市の police.’

法廷,裁判所s across the 資本/首都 have heard 証拠 of his ‘堅固に守るd criminality’ and a man a 裁判官 述べるd as a ‘執拗な 違反者/犯罪者’ who ‘leaves 悲惨 in his wake’.

Westminster City 会議 even tried to have him banned from stepping foot in the borough. It failed. Police are now wearily looking for him.

At his empty first-床に打ち倒す flat in a 宿泊所 for the homeless in London’s North Kensington, a 木材/素質 パネル盤 nailed to the 前線 door, which had 後援d from its hinges, was a 思い出の品 of another 最近の transgression.

によれば 隣人s, ‘浮浪者s’ had been 招待するd into the 所有物/資産/財産 and police had come to 回復する order.

What is so remarkable is how a man born with every advantage life that can bestow ― a second cousin once 除去するd of King Charles and 68th in the line of succession to the 王位 ― should have sunk so wretchedly.

Indeed, many of those who have met him find it hard to believe that the volatile Lascelles, who has at times been (麻薬)常用者d to Spice, the powerful synthetic cannabinoid, was a member of the aristocracy at all.

They also, intriguingly, argue that his woes were not 完全に of his own making ― and there may 井戸/弁護士席 be a 穀物 of truth in that.

For it takes しつけ 同様に as 産む/飼育するing to make a man, and Rowan Lascelles, a 子孫 of King George V, 耐えるd a 高度に 慣習に捕らわれない, almost feral childhood.

While his three-times married father, the Honourable James Lascelles, had been raised まっただ中に the splendour of stately Harewood House in Yorkshire, which featured in the Downton Abbey film and the ITV series Victoria, Rowan grew up on a rambling commune in Suffolk, where he and his sister Sophie were encouraged to join naked dances with the マリファナ-smoking adults around the garden.

When his parents 分裂(する) up, he moved with his mother and her lover to have an itinerant life の中で a bohemian theatre troupe travelling the world, before they settled in 田舎の フラン.

Lascelles has spoken, in previous 法廷,裁判所 審理,公聴会s, of what he called ‘the emotional neglect’ of his American-born mother Fredericka and ‘physical and violent 乱用’ by his stepfather 米,稲 Hayter, a theatrical entrepreneur.

But what is t he truth? Lascelles’s sister, four years his 上級の, has 解任するd those days in 田舎の Suffolk as an idyll, 述べるing the lifestyle thus: ‘My parents were idealists ― young hippies with a dream of 維持できる living, family community and plenty of 激しく揺する and roll.’

They were not the first members of the nobility to embrace the counterculture, but they were の中で the most 目だつ.

James Lascelles was the second son of the 7th Earl of Harewood and his first wife, the concert ピアニスト Marion Stein, who later married the then leader of the 自由主義の Party, Jeremy Thorpe.

His grandmother was Princess Mary, the Princess 王室の and sister of the 追放するd Duke of Windsor and King George VI. And his father, who was 大統領,/社長 of the British Board of Film 分類 for 11 years, was first cousin to the late Queen Elizabeth.

His godparents 含むd Princess Marina, mother of the Duke of Kent, and Sir Alan ‘Tommy’ Lascelles, Queen Elizabeth’s 私的な 長官, who featured in the Netflix series The 栄冠を与える.

Prince Philip was a friend of their father and a たびたび(訪れる) 訪問者 to Harewood House.

But a 抱擁する スキャンダル brought that 王室の 関係 to a shuddering 停止(させる) ― at least for a while.

Lord Harewood, a classical music 行政官/管理者, began an 事件/事情/状勢 with the Australian violinist Patricia Tuckwell and they had a child. The earl was ostracised, not 招待するd to the funeral of his uncle the Duke of Windsor and left off the guest 名簿(に載せる)/表(にあげる) for the wedding of Princess Anne to Captain 示す Phillips in November 1973.

This was a かなりの 無視する,冷たく断わる for the man who remains the only person to have served as counsellor of 明言する/公表する without 存在 a prince of the 部隊d Kingdom. However, family relations were 回復するd after he 離婚d Marion and married 行方不明になる Tuckwell.

At the time, Rowan’s father, now 70, was a pupil at Westminster School. A talented musician, he joined his first 激しく揺する 禁止(する)d, Jaded, at the age of 15. Fellow members 含むd another Westminster boy, Adam Sieff, a member of the family that controlled 示すs and Spencer. The 禁止(する)d’s promoter? A 確かな Tony Blair.

His marriage was a hippy-style 事件/事情/状勢 for which he had to 安全な・保証する the 許可 of his father’s cousin, the Queen. He wore cream leather ジーンズs and 交流d Tibetan (犯罪の)一味s with his bride, while his 最新の 禁止(する)d, the 全世界の Village トラックで運ぶing Company, played during the service in a 14th-century Norfolk church.

The 禁止(する)d, their road 乗組員 and even the bride’s mother all lived together, 株ing one bathroom in a dilapidated farmhouse in Sotherton, Suffolk, as James and the group played at 利益 concerts and festivals. He was the first member of the 王室の Family to 成し遂げる at Glastonbury.

‘We lived with the families of the other 禁止(する)d members and roadies,’ 解任するs Sophie, who now lives in Barcelona, where she is a creative thinking coach

‘My mum and grandma made a 抱擁する vegetable garden and we had chickens and goats . We were やめる 自治権のある as kids, as the parenting method was not to 干渉する in 論争s and we were given a lot of freedom to do as we wished.’

Thanks to the 王室の 関係s (James was then 20th in line to the 王位) the commune attracted not just 不賛成 but headlines too. An article in the News of the World was illustrated with pictures of a topless young woman.

Asked by one interviewer if they lived by the 原則 of 解放する/自由な love, James was blas?.

‘I wouldn’t stop anyone making love to my wife, but I’d probably punch him on the nose,’ he said.

Rowan was born into this unorthodox life in 1977 and joined other commune children at the village school, which has since の近くにd, in nearby Wangford.

But by the 早期に 1980s, his parents’ marriage was breaking up. They 離婚d in 1985, and that same year James married in a Native American 儀式 on 最高の,を越す of a New Mexico mountain with blessings from a 薬/医学 man.

His bride, with whom he had already fathered a daughter, was a member of the Navajo tribe, with the 指名する 影をつくる/尾行する.

The couple met in California where 影をつくる/尾行する, also known as Lori, had worked as a nanny to the Hollywood child 星/主役にする Tatum O’Neal. However, that marriage also didn’t last and in 1999, 支援する in Britain, James was married for a third time to a Nigerian actress.

一方/合間, Rowan and his sister Sophie were living off-grid with their mother, who had joined the Footsbarn Travelling Theatre Company, which hosted circus-style big 最高の,を越す 業績/成果s featuring acrobats, clowns, music and 衣装s.

存在 絶えず on 小旅行する, it must have been hard, if not impossible, for the young Rowan to put 負かす/撃墜する roots anywhere.

As a young adult, he had 表明するd a 願望(する) to work in films. His uncle David, the 8th Earl of Harewood, was a film and television 生産者 who worked on nine episodes of Inspec tor Morse. His grandmother taught him the piano.

正確に when Rowan’s life began to spiral out of 支配(する)/統制する is unknown but in 2006, some five years after that Country Life montage, police were called to an 出来事/事件 at a backpacker’s 迎賓館 in Cambodia.

After a 列/漕ぐ/騒動 with a fellow guest, he had thrown the man’s laptop into a lake. Staff at the 迎賓館 had taken to calling Lascelles ‘Mr Lop Lop’ which translated meant ‘Mr Silly’.

For a while, police 押収するd his パスポート, but at some point he returned to the UK and started sleeping rough on the streets of London. And so began his slide into criminality.

By now, even his elevated birth was no 保護. One 法廷,裁判所 審理,公聴会 was told that each and every 試みる/企てる to place Rowan in 会議 住宅 would end in eviction because of his ‘不当な behaviour’.

Westminster’s rough sleeping 調整者/コーディネーター, George Bossman, said: ‘When he doesn’t like something, he gets 極端に angry and 乱用s people.’

He 追加するd: ‘There have been 脅すing, 積極的な 爆発s and 人種差別主義者 behaviour, and he has been engaging in the illicit use of 実体s.’

One such 出来事/事件 (機の)カム four years ago when Lascelles 開始する,打ち上げるd a 人種差別主義者 attack on doormen at a casino in London’s West End.

Lascelles was 存在 beaten up by three homeless men when the doormen 急ぐd to his 援助(する). But instead of 存在 感謝する, he spat 血 and saliva at them and 需要・要求するd of on e of the bouncers: ‘Are you f***ing 合法的な?’, while calling his 同僚 a ‘P***’.

Last week, 治安判事s a Willesden in north west London heard that he had 15 始める,決めるs of 前科s for 21 offences. He had 以前 認める racial いやがらせ against a イスラム教徒 man in a WH Smith 蓄える/店 at Victoria 駅/配置する 同様に as admitting 脅すing behaviour to one woman and 強襲,強姦ing another at the same 駅/配置する.

He 否定するd but was 罪人/有罪を宣告するd of 人種上-悪化させるd いやがらせ and 脅すing behaviour at a McDonald’s in Kilburn, north-west London, last September.

He was said to have approached men in the restaurant he believed to be gay referring to them as ‘b**** boy’ and said ‘I bet you love it up the a***’.

He also shouted the N-word as he approached the 反対する.

At the same 審理,公聴会, he was 罪人/有罪を宣告するd of 脅すing a charity 労働者 at the St Mungo’s homeless charity in central London, telling her: ‘I’m going to get a knife and を刺す you in the 直面する.’

Lascelles, said the 起訴, was ‘no stranger to the 法廷,裁判所 system’.

によれば 隣人s at his most 最近の 演説(する)/住所, he has 原因(となる)d ‘untold mayhem’ with police 存在 called on more than a dozen occasions.

‘He seemed a very 静かな and polite man, 井戸/弁護士席 dressed and 井戸/弁護士席-spoken ― but then there is this other 味方する to him, and when the police come he shouts a lot,’ one 隣人 said. ‘He didn’t appear to have any family and never spoke of any.’

支援する in Suffolk, the commune days at Church Farm, where Lascelles was born, are still remembered by 地元の 居住(者)s.

実業家 Julian Rolt, who bought the 所有物/資産/財産 when Rowan’s father sold up in the 早期に 1980s and still lives there, 解任するs. ‘They were very gentle hippies, blue-b looded types ― but the place was a bit of a mess.’

Tragically, a mess is also the only way to 述べる what has happened to Lascelles’s son.
