ITV arrived at Euro 2016 with bells on... while Slaven Bilic stole the show off the field as Dimitri Payet did on the pitch

  • BBC 始める,決める had seemed almost too real in the build-up to the 競争
  • Slaven Bilic 類似の to ツバメ O'Neill's excellent work at World Cup
  • ITV struggled to impress in moments where they were の中で the hype
  • The likes of Christian Karembeu and Jacqui Oatley were わずかに wasted??

And so it begins. I’m sure you’ve all got your wallcharts up, fridges filled, and positions on the settees duly (人命などを)奪う,主張するd. A gaggle of British teams and dozens of home-based players seemed to have 始める,決める やめる the トン for a captivating summer of football on the box. And with our two main terrestrial channels covering it, surely football will truly be coming home over the next month or so.

Something the BBC were much quicker to 反応する to than their broadcasting partners ITV. Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry had already 前線d two impressive 文書のs before Gary Lineker had even settled into his host’s seat for Auntie’s ニュース報道 of the Tournament. Mind you, when he did, for a special Football 焦点(を合わせる) on Thursday night, he did have やめる the Parisian 背景 behind him.

The Eiffel Tower was in fact so impressive, it looked almost TOO real. Like it was perhaps a 向こうずねing, wire coat hanger 尊敬の印 to the ingenuity of the BBC 支え(る) department? But no, that’s where they have indeed 始める,決める up shop. In fact, in the end the only thing about the night that was surreal was how the sound was frequently out of sync with the pictures. Leaving Gary looking like a Leicester Bruce 物陰/風下 in his own Kung Fu film. Mind you, come their first 最高潮の場面s show of the Euros that was 直す/買収する,八百長をするd, and the tower, a wondrous golden arrow, 穴をあけるing an 署名/調印する 黒人/ボイコット Paris sky.

The 開始 night, though, really belonged to ITV as they finally arrived at the Euros. And they did so with bells on! Not for them a smart 泡 of a 始める,決める at the end of a boulevard. Instead, echoing their veranda in Poland at the last tournament, they had again gone al fresco with a roof 最高の,を越す 最高の,を越す 装備する in 前線 of Notre Dame. And as the evening went on and day turned to night, so their setting became all the more みごたえのある. Mind you, what happens when it rains…? 井戸/弁護士席, let’s not worry ourselves about that now. We are, after all, in for the duration.

So once David Guetta seemed, from where I was sitting, to have singularly failed to turn the Stade de フラン into a dodgy EDM rave, it was 負かす/撃墜する to the 商売/仕事 end of the night. Something which in the end belonged to a couple of fellas who now call the East End their own. On the field of play, it was Dimitri Payet who made everyone understand why West Ham fans had been so excited all season. And his 涙/ほころびs of sheer joy as he left the field having just 得点する/非難する/20d Les Bleus みごたえのある 勝利者 may 井戸/弁護士席 go on to become as iconic a telly image as Gazza’s have been for so many years.

But also setting himself up to be a real 星/主役にする of the telly show was his boss, Slaven Bilic, と一緒に 物陰/風下 Dixon and Emmanuel Petit. With a smooth new haircut, snappy 耐えるd and Michael Caine glasses, he did for the パネル盤 what Payet had done for Les Bleus, and gave it a real 解除する.

He’s a real busy 団体/死体, is Slav, unfussed by the 条約s of telly punditry. So 武器 flail, thoughts visibly unravel. He was すぐに a refreshing take on the 役割. Almost the 肉親,親類d of thing ツバメ O’Neil brought to the part at the previous tournament.

And 特に if you 含む one of the strangest of 光学の illusions, that a particular camera angle had created. With the Eiffel Tower image under the pundit’s (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する seemingly giving Slaven what he called ‘robot 脚s’, when 示す Pougatch pointed it out to him at the end of the programme. It having been spotted by a bunch of us hardcore settee merchants 支援する home!

Not やめる so successful on the evening for ITV was their 試みる/企てる to ‘get amongst it’. 特に painful was tennis 支持する/優勝者 Marion Bartoli and Louis Saha’s frantic 試みる/企てるs to 伝える the excitement of the Eiffel tower fan zone from about 100 feet above, and half a mile away from it.

But most wasted for me was the 罰金 broadcast 新聞記者/雑誌記者 Jacqui Oakley with former French 星/主役にする Christian Karembeu. They were inside the stadium, but in yet another 孤立するd position. So once again, it failed to give us any 手渡すs on sense of what we’d seen.?

It felt like an 適切な時期 行方不明になるd. But of course we’ve only just kicked off our summer of European football. And there is 明確に much more to come. So just keep that 位置/汚点/見つけ出す on the settee nice and warm. And the beers, 冷淡な.?
