Scottish 力/強力にする says our メーターs are too old - is this a ruse to 軍隊 us to get a smart メーター?

Our electric and gas company, Scottish 力/強力にする have said that our メーターs have come to the end of their life 見込み.?

As a result they must be 取って代わるd by smart メーターs. Is there anything we can do? We don't really want a smart メーター.

On the meter: Suppliers are pushing households to install smart meters, but you don't have to accept

On the メーター: 供給者s are 押し進めるing 世帯s to 任命する/導入する smart メーターs, but you don't have to 受託する

Angharad Carrick of This Is Money replies: Smart メーターs have been around for over a 10年間 and were introduced to help 世帯s stay in 支配(する)/統制する of their energy 法案s.

They 取って代わるd 伝統的な メーターs, 含むing prepayment 重要な メーターs, and 供給者s say they 供給する more 正確な readings.

The 政府 has 計画(する)s to have them in 80 per cent of 世帯s by 2025.

But some people, like you, don't want them. Some 世帯s have complained of 不確かの readings which have led to higher 法案s, and want to take the readings from 伝統的な メーターs themselves.

Others have said they feel they have been いじめ(る)d into 受託するing a smart メーター and been made to believe it is compulsory.

Your 供給者, Scottish 力/強力にする, told you that your 非,不,無-smart メーター had come to the end of its life, which is usually between 15 and 20 years.

Technically you do not need to have a smart メーター in your home, and they are not compulsory.

供給者s 申し込む/申し出 them to 顧客s if they don't already have one, but they are not under any 義務 to 受託する.

However, 供給者s do 主張する on 任命する/導入するing a smart メーター if your 現在の メーター is coming to the end of its life, as yours is, and can't be 取って代わるd by another 非,不,無-smart メーター.

They often say that some 非,不,無-smart メーターs are no longer 存在 製造(する)d and are under 義務 to 任命する/導入する a smart メーター if the old one is みなすd 危険な.

You said that Scottish 力/強力にする kept 接触するing you about 取って代わるing your 現在の, 伝統的な メーター with a smart one because it had but you did not want to.

I asked Scottish 力/強力にする how they knew your メーター had come to the end of its life, but it did not 供給する an answer.

A 広報担当者 for Scottish 力/強力にする said: 'ScottishPower, as with all 供給者s, are obligated to 取って代わる all 伝統的な メーターs with Smart メーターs by the 産業 regulator, Ofgem.

'任命する/導入するd メーターs come with a certified life from 製造業者s, and 供給者s 監視する and 記録,記録的な/記録する each メーター on an 現在進行中の basis to 跡をつける when they're coming to the end of their certified life, which is typically between 15-20 years. This can 変化させる based on the type of メーター.

'Smart メーターs 申し込む/申し出 many 利益s over their 伝統的な, 非,不,無-smart メーターs - 許すing 顧客s to 記録,記録的な/記録する and 跡をつける 消費.'

It seems that your smart メーター was 任命する/導入するd between 15 and 20 years ago and needs 取って代わるing.?

It is 価値(がある) 公式文書,認めるing that you are する権利を与えるd to ask for 証拠 of this, which your 供給者 should 供給する. If it doesn't, you can 辞退する.

If you do have to 受託する a smart メーター, there is another 選択 if you're not happy with your data 存在 sent to your 供給者 automatically.

Some 供給者s 許す you to 始める,決める up your smart メーター in 'dumb' 方式, which switches the 'smart' functionality.

Unfortunately, Scottish 力/強力にする did not tell me whether this 選択 was possible.
