What can I 支払う/賃金 for using my work salary sacrifice 計画/陰謀 -? 同様に as my gym 会員の地位?

I recently paid for a gym subscription through work 経由で salary sacrifice.

My company 支払う/賃金s the 年次の cost upfront and I then 支払う/賃金 支援する around £40 each month from my 甚だしい/12ダース 支払う/賃金. It saves me about £10 off the usual 月毎の 会員の地位 料金 and I'm locked in for a year.

However, I 港/避難所't ever used salary sacrifice for anything other than for my 年金.

Can I buy other things through salary sacrifice like a phone or a car? It seems like it could save me a lot of money if it's taken from my 甚だしい/12ダース 支払う/賃金, rather than take-home 支払う/賃金.

Angharad Carrick, of This Is Money, replies: When you join a workplace, you're usually 現在のd with a 名簿(に載せる)/表(にあげる) of 利益s, which will likely 含む 年次の leave, 年金 出資/貢献s, a bike-to-work sch eme, and public 輸送(する) season ticket 貸付金s.

But there may be more on 申し込む/申し出 and you could also be 申し込む/申し出d a salary sacrifice 計画/陰謀 for さまざまな things, 範囲ing from buying an electric car, to gym 会員の地位.

Salary sacrifice 許すs 従業員s to give up part of their 甚だしい/12ダース salary, or 特別手当, in 交流 for a 非,不,無-cash 利益.

It is a ありふれた way for companies to run their 年金 出資/貢献s. And typically 雇用者s will 選ぶ to do this through salary sacrifice - or salary 交流 - because it is more 税金 efficient.

The money sacrificed from someone's salary is done pre-税金 and that saves on both 所得税 and 国家の 保険.?

On the 量 that the 従業員 sacrifices from their salary, they 支払う/賃金 no 所得税 and both 従業員 and 雇用者 支払う/賃金 no 国家の 保険 出資/貢献s.

For example, an 従業員 収入 £40,000 a year, who sacrifices £5,000 into their work 年金, will then only be paid £35,000 a year -? but £5,000 will go into their 年金 計画/陰謀. That £5,000 出資/貢献 has no 所得税 or NI paid on it.

In contrast, a 労働者 支払う/賃金ing into their work 年金 from 地位,任命する-税金 salary would get 25 per cent basic 率 税金 救済 on their 出資/貢献 - taking them 支援する to the position before 所得税 - but would have also paid 8 per cent 国家の 保険.

Not everyone can qualify for salary sacrifice, though. The rul es say that you can't do the 計画/陰謀 if it means your salary 落ちるs below the 国家の 最小限 行う.

Salary sacrifice can also be used for 非,不,無-財政上の 利益s, with bikes and cars の中で the most popular items.

The Cycle-to-Work 計画/陰謀 許すs 従業員s to buy a bike through their 雇用者, spread the cost over 12 months and make some 税金 貯金.

There is a 類似の 計画/陰謀 for car 賃貸し(する)ing, with 支払い(額)s also covering road 税金, 保険 and 決裂/故障 cover. This is most 有益な for electric cars and has been 高度に popular.

Other items, like 動きやすい phones and computers, can also be paid for through salary 交流 but it depends on your 雇用者.

However, to stop people dodging 税金 by salary sacrificing as much of their life as they かもしれない can, there are 支配するs that mean you might have 税金 clawed 支援する through something called '利益 in 肉親,親類d'.?

These are known as 'taxable 利益s' - and relate to something 従業員s receive that aren't part of their salary.

年金s and cycling to work are seen as a good thing, so if you keep within the 支配するs 年金 出資/貢献s and bikes don't have a clawback. The 政府 is also keen to 促進する electric cars, so there is only a small 利益 in 肉親,親類d clawback.?

With other items, the 政府 is nowhere 近づく as generous. It can be difficult to work out what 適用するs 適用する to your circumstances.?

We asked some 専門家s for their advice on what you could use your work's salary sacrifice 計画/陰謀, and which might be liable for 税金.

What can I salary sacrifice?

For example:

If you think you could be 影響する/感情d in any of these areas by a 削減 in salary, then before you enter into an salary sacrifice 協定 接触する your HR or 従業員 利益s people and check how the 計画/陰謀 is run, and whether such 問題/発行するs could arise.

Karen Barrett, 創立者 and CEO of Unbiased says: While salary sacrifice is useful, there are a few things to consider. For example, a 減ずるd salary may 衝撃 how much you can borrow with a mortgage or entitlement to some 利益s.

It's 価値(がある) checking with your 雇用者 how salary sacrifice will 衝撃 your 収入s before 調印 up.

What is a 利益 in 肉親,親類d?

Angharad Carrick says: Salary sacrifice is an 協定 to 減ずる an 従業員's entitlement to cash 支払う/賃金, usually in return for a 非,不,無-cash 利益.

However, 雇用者s also 申し込む/申し出 cash 利益s with no 税金 貯金, にもかかわらず it 存在 taken out of your 甚だしい/12ダース 支払う/賃金.

These are items or services that are 購入(する)d to 利益 the 従業員 本人自身で and there is no identifiable 商売/仕事 目的.

For example, you will not have to 支払う/賃金 税金 and 国家の 保険 on uniforms or 保護の 着せる/賦与するing but you will have to 報告(する)/憶測 the 着せる/賦与するing if it's part of a salary sacrifice 協定.

The most ありふれた types of 利益 in 肉親,親類d that are likely to 背負い込む a 税金 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金 are 私的な 医療の 保険, accommodation, 貸付金s, 非,不,無-商売/仕事 costs for travel and entertainment, and a 乗り物 購入(する)d for the 商売/仕事.
