ANDREW NEIL: With Iran ever closer to getting the 爆弾, イスラエル and its new Arab 同盟(する)s MUST 部隊 to bring 負かす/撃墜する the 中世 mullahs before it's too late

|

イスラエル listened to its 同盟(する)s. Yesterday’s 報復 for Iran’s 集まり ミサイル and drone attack last 週末 was 限られた/立憲的な and ?carefully calibrated, just as its friends had 勧めるd. Even Iran doesn’t regard it as a 原因(となる) for その上の escalation.

This is all to the good but, it is far from the end of the ?事柄, for イスラエル and its 同盟(する)s have much work to do if they are to build a 部隊d 前線 which can 妨害する Iran’s ?決意 to 支配する the Middle East and bring about the 迅速な demise of the 中世 mullahs who 支配する from Tehran and spread such 悲惨 and 流血/虐殺.

This is a tall order but it is 決定的な if there is ever to be a new Middle East of peace and 繁栄.

The 輪郭(を描く) of the new anti-Iranian 同盟 was seen over the skies of Jordan last Saturday night when the 軍の might and 知能 能力s of イスラエル, America, ?Britain, フラン and several 重要な 湾 Arab 明言する/公表するs 連合させるd to see off over 300 Iranian drones and ミサイルs 長,率いるing for イスラエル.

The extent of the 損失 done to Iran by yesterday’s 報復 has yet to be discerned. It is ありそうもない to be 広大な/多数の/重要な. But it was far from a waste of time

Without this remarkable 集団の/共同の 返答, イスラエル could have 苦しむd 広範囲にわたる death and 破壊 ― and the whole 地域 would likely be up in 炎上s by now.

The challenge is to build on Saturday’s success to create a formidable and 耐えるing 同盟 which will work together across 多重の 前線s to stop Iran’s long-?running 企て,努力,提案 for 地域の hegemony in its 跡をつけるs.

極端に 強健な 報復 by イスラエル would have 危険d 殺人,大当り off this new ありふれた 前線 at birth. イスラエル is so used to 事実上の/代理 alone in the 地域 to 確実にする its 生き残り that advice has not always been ?welcomed, even from friends. But it learned a salutary ?lesson seven days ago: there is strength in numbers.

The extent of the 損失 done to Iran by yesterday’s 報復 has yet to be discerned. It is ありそうもない to be 広大な/多数の/重要な. But it was far from a waste of time.

イスラエル concentrated its attack on Isfahan 州, south of Tehran in central Iran. It is a centre of 武器s 生産/産物 ― 含むing Iran’s Shahab medium-範囲 ミサイルs which can reach イスラエル ― 同様に as home to four 核の 研究 施設s.

The 州 also hosts the Natanz ウラン 濃縮すること 工場/植物 ― a 重要な 施設 should Iran decide to 完全にする its 開発 of 核の 武器s ― and an airbase for Iran’s ageing jet 闘士,戦闘機 (n)艦隊/(a)素早い.

All of this likely remains 損なわれていない after the attack. But イスラエル sent a powerful message to Iran にもかかわらず: unlike your 不快な/攻撃 能力s, ours can get through, so do not underestimate the havoc we could wreak if we really tried.

報告(する)/憶測s that some of the attack was organised by Israeli operatives inside Iran will have sent a shiver 負かす/撃墜する the spine of the Tehran 政権, too. イスラエル’s new Arab 同盟(する)s will have liked that.

It is now time to 固く結び付ける this new 同盟 by bringing Saudi Arabia fully on board. The Abraham (許可,名誉などを)与えるs, the signal 外交政策 業績/成就 of Donald Trump’s time in the White House, created 外交関係 between イスラエル, the 部隊d Arab 首長国s and Bahrain for the first time ever.

Saudi Arabia, the biggest catch of all, was meant to join them. But before that could happen, Joe Biden (機の)カム to 力/強力にする muttering about making Saudi Arabia a ‘pariah’ and committed to 再開するing 大統領 Obama’s 政策 of appeasing Iran.

It was 確定/確認 of what a former US defence 長官 once said: when it comes to 外交政策 you can usually count on Biden, at least 最初, to make the wrong call.

自信のない if they could count on America, the Sunni Saudis started to make peace 予備交渉s to Shia Iran, th e old enemy. They even reached out to 中国, which saw it could 伸び(る) 影響(力) in the 地域 as a go-between.

許可/制裁s against Iran were 緩和するd, billions in 財政/金融s unfrozen for Tehran’s use and Iranian oil 輸出(する)s flooded on to the 全世界の market once more. Iran 現在/一般に 輸出(する)s almost 1.6 million バーレル/樽s a day, おもに to 中国, an 輸出(する) 貿易(する) that will 生成する it $35billion in 歳入s this year.

非,不,無 of this new dosh flowing into Tehran’s coffers is used to その上の the 原因(となる) of peace or give hard-圧力(をかける)d Iranians a 外見 of 繁栄. That chunk which does not 結局最後にはーなる in the pockets of the 政権’s 支配者s is funnelled to Iran’s proxy 民兵 across the 地域: Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in south Lebanon, Houthis in Yemen, and さまざまな varieties of ?民兵 in Iraq and Syria.

Several billion dollars have been spent over the years on training, arming and 財政/金融ing テロリスト 操作/手術s to 土台を崩す イスラエル and destabilise Sunni Arab nations ― all in furtherance of Iran’s 企て,努力,提案 for 地域の dominance.

It even helped 財政/金融 an 広範囲にわたる Iranian 輸出(する) 産業, which 供給するs kamikaze drones for the Kremlin to attack ウクライナ共和国. 徐々に it 夜明けd on the Biden 行政 that it had made a 悲惨な wrong turn. The Abraham (許可,名誉などを)与えるs were 解雇する/砲火/射撃d up again, the Saudis 支持を得ようと努めるd once more. The Iranians were so alarmed that they gave Hamas the green light to attack イスラエル on October 7, knowing 十分な 井戸/弁護士席 that the Israeli 返答 in Gaza would make it harder for the Saudis to join the (許可,名誉などを)与えるs.

Harder. But not impossible. Saudi support for the (許可,名誉などを)与えるs has been 延期するd but not derailed. After last 週末’s successful show of まとまり, there is an 増加するd appetite for イスラエル and its Sunni Arab 同盟(する)s to build a proper 防御の 同盟, under American 後援 and with the support of Britain and フラン (Europe’s more 強健な 軍の 力/強力にするs), to 阻止する Iranian adventurism.

Special 軍隊s of Iran's Islamic 革命の Guard 軍団

Do not underestimate the extent to which this is already under way. Arab and Israeli 操縦するs had been 飛行機で行くing together over the Red Sea in 演習s which ふりをするd the Irani an drone attack last Saturday.

Centcom, the US 軍の HQ for the 地域 in Qatar, is now the 発生地 for 軍の 長,指導者s from イスラエル, Saudi ?Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, the UAE and Egypt to 株 知能 and 計画(する) the 軍の 協調 to 阻止する Iran.

It’s a rudimentary 同盟 and even as it develops might never have the sophistication or coherence of 北大西洋条約機構. But it is remarkable にもかかわらず, a game-changer in the fraught geopolitics of the Middle East which 示すs the beginning of the end for Iran’s hegemonic ambitions.

There is now a 決意 to turn the screws on Iran. The 軍の wing of the Tehran 政権 is not the 正規の/正選手 army but the Islamic 革命の Guard 軍団 (IRGC), a separate 軍隊 of over 150,000 which 行為/法令/行動するs as enforcer for the mullahs at home and abroad.

Its Quds 軍隊 is its foreign legion, which 取引,協定s 直接/まっすぐに with Iran’s proxy 民兵s. イスラエル has all but wiped out the IRGC leadership in Syria, 殺人,大当り 18 上級の 指揮官s, 含むing ― on April 1 in Damascus ― the general who gave Hamas the go-ahead for October 7.

イスラエル’s Arab 同盟(する)s see Iran’s proxies as a 脅し to their 安全 and 安定. As 軍の and 知能 協調 grows within the new Israeli-Arab 同盟, IRGC 指揮官s will be able to sleep even いっそう少なく soundly. This is as it should be.

同様に as spreading terror abroad, the IRGC is the 政権’s main 器具 of 圧迫 at home. It was in the 最前部 of dealin g with the 集まり 抗議するs of 2009, 2019 and 2022: 狙撃, 拷問ing and 刑務所,拘置所ing those who dared 反抗する the mullahs.

Over 500 were killed in the 2022 抗議するs and thousands 刑務所,拘置所d in appalling 条件s. The hated Basij, a 90,000-strong 議会の 軍隊 whose main 目的 is to 割れ目 デモ参加者/実演宣伝者s’ skulls, is (v)提携させる(n)支部,加入者d to the IRGC.

Yet, for all that and more, Britain 辞退するs to 指定する the IRGC as a テロリスト organisation even though that is how we regard Hamas and Hezbollah, who are 創造s and creatures of the IRGC.

The fact it has also 機動力のある 違法な 操作/手術s against Iranian 反体制者s on British 国/地域 doesn’t seem to 事柄 to the Foreign Office either, which worries Iran might 削減(する) off 外交関係 if we 無法者 the IRGC.

Foreign 長官 David Cameron goes along with this typical Foreign Office nonsense even though there have been 15 陰謀(を企てる)s by the IRGC and its associates to 誘拐する or kill Iranians based in Britain (some British 国民s) as ‘enemies of the 政権’.

A TV presenter for an Iranian 対立 channel was recently stabbed outside his London home. The IRGC has even used gullible and greedy British banks to launder money around the world as part of a 許可/制裁s-避けるing 計画/陰謀 it 工夫するd.

The Foreign Office should realise that いつかs doing the 権利 thing is more important than 外交の manoeuvring.

After all, appeasement, yet again, has not worked. With Iran belligerent but also weak, it’s time to play hardball. Biden’s friendly 予備交渉s certainly didn’t 刺激する any 軟化するing on Tehran’s part. Far from it. The country’s 支配者s are ますます in the 支配する of 観念的な hardliners known as the Paydari 前線, irreconcilable Shia supremacists who see 妥協 as 証拠不十分 and smear critics as atheists.

Ebrahim Raisi, the 強行路線 聖職者の who became 大統領,/社長 in 2021, has given them 政府 地位,任命するs. A low 人出/投票者数 in March’s 議会の 選挙s 許すd them to 強化する their 支配する in the 立法機関.

The civil service is 存在 粛清するd of pragmatists. They are infiltrating the 階級s of the IRGC with a new cadre of young zealots even more extreme than those 現在/一般に in 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金.

New chastity 法律s are 存在 用意が出来ている. The morality police are 支援する on the streets after a year-long hiatus, 決定するd to reimpose the 義務的な wearing of the hijab for women, a move to be 施行するd again with whippings.

These are the same morality police who 逮捕(する)d 22-year-old Mahsa Amini for failing to cover every 選び出す/独身 立ち往生させる of her hair. She died in 保護/拘留. Iran’s 刑務所,拘置所s are bywords for the 乱用, 強姦 and death of women.

As the Paydari 前線 grows in 力/強力にする and 影響(力), the repression can only get worse. So can the economy, which is already a basket 事例/患者. インフレーション has 越えるd 30 per cent a year for the last five years. The country’s 通貨 is 発射 to hell: you’ll need 42,000 rial to buy one US dollar. 失業, 特に の中で the young, is endemic.

The 支配者s, however, continue to do very nicely and the IRGC’s 主要な lights have their fingers in so many money-making pies, from 固める/コンクリート to telecoms, that they’re 伴う/関わるd in 60 per cent of the economy.

封じ込め(政策) of Iran 要求するs イスラエル and the Sunni Arabs, with American and European help, to 直面する Iran with a 防御の 同盟. That is now under way. But peace and 進歩 will only come when the 現在の theocratic 政権 is swept away.

That could be 急いでd by a 強化するing of the 許可/制裁s screw to 否定する it the 歳入s it 要求するs to keep it in 力/強力にする.

America and Britain 発表するd new 許可/制裁s this week but they were paltry. 許可/制裁s which 削減(する) off major 歳入 streams and 科学(工学)技術 that 上げるs its defence 産業s are 要求するd. The new イスラエル-Arab 同盟 should 押し進める for them.

Of course, Iran will 動揺させる the 脅し of a 核の 爆弾 in the 直面する of such 敵意. It has 備蓄(する)d enough 濃厚にするd ウラン to create three 爆弾s and is probably closer to one than it ever has been. But it is still up to a year away, given the time it takes to create 武器s-grade ウラン.

イスラエル and America need to be explicit: if there is any 調印する Iran is on the brink of a 爆弾 then its 核の 施設s will be attacked. That will be 議論の的になる, though not の中で the Arab 同盟(する)s, but the idea of the Paydari 前線 ― who explicitly believe in conflagration and the End Of Days ― having a 核兵器 is unconscionable. It 簡単に cannot be 許すd to happen.

The 政権 is 攻撃を受けやすい. Ali Khamenei, 84, 最高の Leader since 1989, is on his last 脚s and 消費するd with 任命する/導入するing his ?lacklustre son as his 後継者 (fascinating how 共和国の/共和党の ?独裁政治s tend to descend into 絶対の 君主国s).

People are furious that there’s always plenty of money to send to foreign 民兵s or develop 核の 武器s but barely enough to put food on the (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する.

It explains Iranians’ bitter sense of humour. In the 影響 of last week’s failed attack on イスラエル, graffiti appeared in Tehran ?説: ‘A lot of Israelis died ― laughing’ and ‘攻撃する,衝突する them イスラエル. Iranians are behind you.’

As always, it is 決定的な to distinguish between the Iranian 政権 and the Iranian people. The 政権 is evil and despotic. The people are wonderful: educated, dynamic, diligent, cultured, ?successful ― when circumstances 許す. They deserve much better.

Shorn of the mullahs and with a democratic market economy, Iran would quickly become one of the most 繁栄する countries in the 地域, if not the world. 急いで that happy day.

For when it comes イスラエル and the Arabs won’t even need their 防御の 同盟.
