THE CHIC LIST: They may be 支援する in fashion, but here's why I think nobody should ever wear skinny ジーンズs. Here's five spring 傾向s to try instead...

The other morning I woke from a bad dream filled with 苦悩. The 原因（となる） of my 苦しめる? I dreamed I was trying to squeeze into a pair of skinny ジーンズs once more. I detest them nearly as much as my other fashion b?te noire ? floral frocks.

Hence my 決意 to ignore the 渦巻くing 報告（する）／憶測s that skinny ジーンズs are making a return this year. Just when everyone had forgotten about them and was starting to look 冷静な／正味の and relaxed in wide-脚 and boyfriend ジーンズs, the fashion 産業 decides to torment us all over again with these denim 汚いs.

Designers love to reinvent something old and call it new. So Prada and Miu Miu sent their models 負かす／撃墜する the A/W24 catwalk squeezed into the tightest skinny ジーンズs. There were even sightings of… jeggings. Has everyone lost their minds?

Why do I dislike this 削減（する） of ジーンズs so much? For years, it was a 疫病／悩ます in this country, with women everywhere, no 事柄 their 団体／死体 形態／調整, squeezing into a torturous fit that makes thighs look 抱擁する and 膝s 似ている cabbages, while also creating ぎこちない wedgies and digging into waists. It’s taken stylists years of work to unpick them from our psyches.

While celebrity fans 含むd Kate Moss, Katie Holmes and Alexa Chung, the 厳しい truth is that skinny ジーンズs only look good on women with long, 極端に わずかな／ほっそりした 脚s. Period. If that isn’t you, do yourself a favour and stick with more 許すing high-waist, wide-legged 選択s. I certainly will.

Speaking of looking good, here are some flattering 傾向s I am excited about trying:

• First up, making a big 復帰 for summer is the long, swishy pleated skirt, which looks so feminine with a blazer and ballet flats.
• Another welcome return to the fashion 倍の is the slouchy こども to bung over your shoulder. Carrying a 十分な-to-bursting 捕らえる、獲得する stuffed with spare heels, a 瓶／封じ込める of ワイン to 株 with a friend, laptop, phone charger, wallet, 重要なs and make-up 必須のs is nothing to be ashamed of ? Jane Birkin was known for stuffing and 冒険的な the iconic こどもs 指名するd after her. And this pragmatic approach has 奮起させるd spring’s new bigger 捕らえる、獲得する 形態／調整s.
• The tactile softness of suede is a micro 傾向 that’s come to the fore, with some lovely jackets and skirts to choose from on the high street. The long leather ざん壕 is a fun 新たな展開 on the spring 中心的要素.
• Bottega Veneta’s 減少（する） （犯罪の）一味 and earrings have 誘発するd an appetite for chunky silver and gold jewellery.

And Just Like That… season three is about to start 狙撃. 推定する／予想する to see its 星／主役にする Sarah Jessica Parker (pictured), who finishes treading the boards in the West End 生産／産物 of Plaza 控訴 next week, jump 支援する into her character Carrie with longtime buddies Charlotte and Miranda. We can’t wait to see the outfits. 

 

 

Up for 得る，とらえるs

I 行方不明になるd out on this 捕らえる、獲得する last year. And I’m not making the same mistake again. Because, believe me, a decent stylish でっちあげる，人を罪に陥れるd raffia clutch is hard to find.

 

All you need is tweed
