Mother whose son, 9, had his foot amputated at 18 months thought it was a 'scam' when he was scouted as a model - but now he travels the world on shoots for アマゾン and Primark

A nine-year-old boy who lost his foot at 18 months has become a model and now he travels the world 提起する／ポーズをとるing for famous brands.

Arlo Tate, from Weston-最高の-損なう in Somerset, was 診断するd with fibular hemimelia - a 行方不明の fibula - at birth.

His 権利 foot was bent inwards so doctors 示唆するd his parents 許す them amputate his foot so he could learn to walk with a prosthetic 脚.

Arlo's mother, Naomi, 38, says that starting to walk with a prosthesis was incredibly 平易な and Arlo hasn't let his disability 持つ／拘留する him 支援する.

'I thought it was a scam at first - but it's amazing to see him modelling for all these 最高の，を越す brands.

'He gets looked after really 井戸／弁護士席 - every 職業 he goes on, it's all very luxurious.

'We get to take him to toy shops and let him have his 選ぶ to spend his 給料 - and he makes £500 per shoot.

'It doesn't faze him at all that he's 収入 all this money - he just loves sightseeing and making new friends.'

Naomi says Arlo's friends weren't even aware Arlo had a disability because he plays football, basketball and rugby with them.

She was told at her 20-week ざっと目を通す that her son would be born with an 'abnormality' - にもかかわらず having a 'normal' pregnancy beforehand.

But doctors weren't 正確に／まさに sure what the abnormality would be - and his 行方不明の fibula was discovered at birth.

予定 to his 行方不明の fibula and 異常な tibia - which was bent sideways - Arlo's 権利 foot curled inwards and he only had three toes.

Naomi said: 'It was 意味ありげに shorter than his left 脚. It would've grown, just at a really slow pace.

'I went straight on Facebook to look for other mums going through the same thing, it did make me feel いっそう少なく alone.'

While speaking to the other mums, Naomi began to 重さを計る up her 選択s.

She heard she'd be able to get 脚 lengthenin g 外科 for Arlo - which is usually an 選択 for 患者s with a 縮めるd fibula.

But doctors told her it wouldn't be possible? because they'd be unable to 延長する or 取って代わる bones that weren't there to begin with.

After 18 months of 研究, Naomi and Arlo's care team decided amputation would be the best 大勝する.

She said: 'We decided the best way would be to amputate his 権利 foot. At the beginning, I was really nervous.

'But in the three months before 外科, doctors fitted Arlo with a prosthetic 脚, which had a 始める，決める of five little toes.

'He 絶対 loved it. It gave him the 柔軟性 of 存在 able to walk - and he could even put a shoe on it.

'I knew amputation would be the best 決定／判定勝ち（する） - he wouldn't know any different and could learn to walk with the prosthetic.

'最終的に, I had to think about it like - his foot is useless to him, and a prosthetic would give him a lifetime of mobility.

'They're just 取って代わるing something that isn't useful to him with something that is.'

On July 6, 2016, 老年の one, Arlo had his 権利 foot amputated and continued learning to walk with his prosthetics.

Naomi says he didn't have any difficulty at all and got stuck in with as many sports and running clubs as possible as he got older.

The account received a message from a talent scout for a modelling 機関 - which Naomi 最初 thought was a scam.

But when the main 立証するd account sent her a message later on, she realised it was real.

'The 機関 接触するd me on TikTok,' Naomi said.

'I thought it was a bit of a joke, but they said they 手配中の，お尋ね者 to 調印する Arlo up.

'We chatted on the phone - then I said to Arlo, "You've got a 契約 to work - you're going to start 収入 your own money". He wasn't fazed at all.'

Within four months, Arlo jetted to Prague in the Czech 共和国 to shoot his first （選挙などの）運動をする.

The shoot was for アマゾン to go live in North America, South Africa and 中国. He was paid £500.

It lasted four days and Naomi says it was 始める，決める up like a 'movie studio'.

'We had a chauffeur 選ぶ us up from the airport, and they held his 指名する up on a card at the gate. We really got looked after in 高級な.'

Arlo said: 'It's really fun - I like to travel around.

'My favourite things to do are sightseeing and making new friends.'
