Forget the age-old smoker's cough, now doctors are seeing 患者s with 'vaper's cough' (and it can sound very different!)

タバコ destroys tiny hair-like structures in th e 航空路s called cilia, designed to keep dirt and mucus out of the 肺s.

When these are killed off, irritants can settle in the 肺s and mucus builds up. This is what 誘発する/引き起こすs the 'smoker's cough', with their 団体/死体 試みる/企てるing to (疑いを)晴らす the 航空路s.

Once someone gives up smoking, cilia regrow and help to move the mucus out. This can also result in a cough that can last for months.
