JEFF PRESTRIDGE: Jeremy 追跡(する)'s 予算 was a 鎮圧するing blow to pensioners. Here's what they should do NOW to 保護する their wealth

Today’s 予算 was never going to 再燃する the nation’s love for a 政府 which has put us through the 同等(の) of 課税 hell to get the economy through the pandemic ? and the 財政上の mayhem that Liz Truss’s 悲惨な 称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 as 首相 原因(となる)d.

It didn’t, although (ドイツなどの)首相/(大学の)学長 of the 国庫 Jeremy 追跡(する) was on rather good form as he spelt out a path に向かって lower 税金s ? about time too, I hear you say ? in between goading ‘two homes’ Angela Rayner, 労働’s 副 Leader.

Yet I am sure the nation’s mighty army of pensioners felt a little aggrieved about 落ちるing through the 予算’s 割れ目s. Indeed, the country’s 近づく 13 million pensioners hardly got a について言及する in Mr 追跡(する)’s one hour (and more besides) long speech.

Instead, Mr 追跡(する) chose to 焦点(を合わせる) on helping families and those in work. 理解できる to a degree, but a dangerous 手段, given the propensity of many pensioners to 投票(する) blue rather than red.

Of course, beholden (bizarrely) to the 欠陥d number crunchers at the Office for 予算 責任/義務 (thank you George Osborne), Mr 追跡(する) was never ever going to be able to blow us all away with a ファンファーレ/誇示 of 税金 削減(する)s which I am sure he would have loved to have done.

Jeremy Hunt delivering his budget today, spelling out a path towards lower taxes

Jeremy 追跡(する) 配達するing his 予算 today, (一定の)期間ing out a path に向かって lower 税金s

But what he did 申し込む/申し出 up ? a その上の 2p 削減(する) in 国家の 保険 (NI) 出資/貢献 率s to 追加する to the 2p 削減 発表するd in last year’s Autumn 声明 ? was 意見の不一致を生じる and 疎遠にするing.

In 選ぶing for NI 削減(する)s, rather than a 削減 in 所得税, he 除外するd those pensioners in 領収書 of 明言する/公表する 年金 from his largesse. As pensioners have kept reminding me since November when 追跡(する) 発表するd wave one of the NI 削減s, those who get the 明言する/公表する 年金 don’t 支払う/賃金 NI. But many of them ? indeed more than ever because of Mr 追跡(する)’s multi-billion-続けざまに猛撃する stealth 税金 (警察の)手入れ,急襲 ? 支払う/賃金 所得税.

Maybe Mr 追跡(する) will put this ‘wrong’ 権利 later this year if the 政府, as 広範囲にわたって 報告(する)/憶測d, 持つ/拘留するs another ‘会計の event’ ahead of an Autumn 選挙, 覆うing the way for more inclusive 所得税 削減(する)s.

But then, maybe, he won’t ? some 政治家,政治屋s and commentators are even 示唆するing a snap May 選挙 with a 約束 to 削減(する) 所得税 率s enshrined in the 保守的な Party’s manifesto.

It can be argued that pensioners have already been 扱う/治療するd やめる royally by Mr 追跡(する). Next month, under the ‘3倍になる lock’ 約束, the 明言する/公表する 年金 will rise by a 強くたたくing 8.5 pc to £11,501 per 年 ? ahead of インフレーション 現在/一般に running at around 4 pc.

Only around half a million pensioners get the full ‘new’ state pension while those who became eligible before 2016 get an inferior ‘basic’ deal

Only around half a million pensioners get the 十分な ‘new’ 明言する/公表する 年金 while those who became 適格の before 2016 get an inferior ‘basic’ 取引,協定

Brilliant, yes, although let’s not get too carried away. Only around half a million pensioners get the 十分な ‘new’ 明言する/公表する 年金 while those who became 適格の before 2016 get an inferior ‘basic’ 取引,協定.

Also, let’s not forget that it was pensioners who had the 3倍になる lock 保証(人) taken away from them in 2022, 地位,任命する pandemic.

Yet the biggest 天罰(を下す) by far for pensioners is Mr 追跡(する)’s 氷点の of the personal allowance at £12,570 until 2028. As pensioners’ incomes have risen above this 量, they have been drawn (dragged) into 支払う/賃金ing 所得税. The number of pensioners who 支払う/賃金 所得税 is 始める,決める to 攻撃する,衝突する a 記録,記録的な/記録する 8.5million this year, up from 4.5million in 2010.

For many pensioners, the 財政上の 見通し is a 堅い one, but it’s not all doom and gloom.

On the 有望な 味方する, インフレーション - as Mr 追跡(する) said in his 予算 speech ? is 長,率いるing 負かす/撃墜する below 2 pc, 減ずるing the 圧力 on 世帯 財政/金融s. An 拡張 of the 燃料 義務 凍結する for another year will also help 年輩の drivers mitigate the continued インフレーション-破産した/(警察が)手入れするing 増加するs in their 保険 賞与金s.

その上に, there are steps pensioners can take themselves to 保護(する)/緊急輸入制限 their 財政/金融s and wealth. These 含む shopping around as a 事柄 of course for services such as broadband, 保険s, 動きやすい phone 契約s and best 貯金 取引,協定s. Too many pensioners remain loyal to companies which have long stopped 供給するing them with value for money. LOYALTY DOES NOT PAY.

Also, far too many pensioners on low incomes do not (人命などを)奪う,主張する 利益s that can help ブイ,浮標 their 世帯 財政/金融s ? for example, 年金 credit. Don’t be shy or embarrassed, see if you are 適格の and (人命などを)奪う,主張する it: https://www.gov.uk/年金-credit/適格(性)

Finally, 確実にする any cash 貯金 or 投資s you have are fully 保護するd from 所得税 and 資本/首都 伸び(る)s 税金. That means 保護物,者ing them inside 税金-friendly Individual 貯金 Accounts.

In the 現在の 税金 year ending on April 5, you can put a 最大限 of £20,000 into an Isa ? and the same again come April 6 (£5,000 more if the new ‘British’ Isa is up and running in time). That money then grows 解放する/自由な of 税金 ? and can be subsequently 孤立した without incurring 税金.

That Isa money will be 保護するd from 税金 under this 政府 ? and (hopefully) the next one.
