Find out if you're one of the seven MILLION drivers 始める,決める for payouts 価値(がある) thousands. And what you should do now to find out if you are 適格の in new 'PPI on wheels' スキャンダル

  • ツバメ 吊りくさび says up to seven million drivers may have paid more 貸付金 利益/興味 than they should have?

Up to seven million people could be in line for 補償(金) 価値(がある) thousands of 続けざまに猛撃するs after routinely 存在 mis-sold expensive car 貸付金s by dealerships since 2014.

The 現れるing スキャンダル ― 存在 dubbed ‘PPI on wheels’ after the 支払い(額) 保護 保険 炉心溶融 of the late 1990s and 早期に 2000s ― could leave the banks that 供給する the 貸付金s with a £13 billion 法案.

専門家s such as ツバメ 吊りくさび are advising anyone who thinks they are 影響する/感情d to 服従させる/提出する (人命などを)奪う,主張するs now to 確実にする they are 扱う/治療するd 公正に/かなり.

Although this is a fraction of the £50 billion PPI mis-selling payouts, the sheer size of the 法案 will yet again raise serious questions over the banking 産業’s poor 治療 of 顧客s ― whether savers, small 商売/仕事s, or pensioners.

It also shows the City regulator in a poor light. While the 財政上の 行為/行う 当局 (FCA) is now 覆うing the way for 補償(金) by 開始する,打ち上げるing a 調査(する) into car 貸付金 mis-selling, some believe it failed 顧客s.

PPI on wheels: Up to seven million people could have been mis-sold expensive car loans by dealerships since 2014

PPI on wheels: Up to seven million people could have been mis-sold expensive car 貸付金s by dealerships since 2014

This was centred on drivers who bought a new car using 貸付金 財政/金融 ― either a personal 契約 購入(する) (PCP) 計画(する) or 雇う 購入(する) (HP) 協定.?

Around nine in ten new cars are bought this way. Some 18.2 million new cars were 登録(する)d in the UK between 2014 and 2021, によれば data 分析家 Statista ― and 16.4 million could have been bought using a PCP or HP.

Over this period, ツバメ 吊りくさび says up to 40 per cent of these 運転者s ― about 6.6 million ― may have unwittingly 調印するd up to a ‘discretionary (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限 協定’ (DCA). In doing so, many paid more in 貸付金 利益/興味 than they should have.

This is because the banks 許すd dealerships to earn big (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限 支払い(額)s from the 貸付金s they recommended. These costs were then passed on to 顧客s through higher 利益/興味 率s.

The FCA says a car 買い手 borrowing £10,000 over four years could have paid up to £1,100 more than they should have because of (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限 支払い(額)s made to dealerships by the banks.

It is believed 運転者s may have paid £165 million a year in unnecessary 料金s.

投資 bank Jefferies has calculated the cost of making good the 財政上の detriment at £13 billion.?

This compares to the £50 billion it cost the banks to (疑いを)晴らす up the PPI スキャンダル, where people were sold poor-value or unnecessary cover to 会合,会う mortgage, 貸付金, or credit card 支払い(額)s if they could not work through illness or 失業.

The FCA 開始する,打ち上げるd its 調査(する) into DCA mis-selling after the 財政上の Ombudsman Service (FOS) said it had received 17,000 (民事の)告訴s from 運転者s.?

The regulator is 推定する/予想するd to 発表する its findings in September when it is likely that a formal 是正する 計画/陰謀 will be 始める,決める up to make it 平易な for 犠牲者s to (人命などを)奪う,主張する.

Tellingly, Lloyds Banking Group, whose car 貸付金 arm is 黒人/ボイコット Horse, said last month that it would be setting aside £450 million to 会合,会う 可能性のある (人命などを)奪う,主張するs.?

Yet 専門家s believe Lloyds could be 攻撃する,衝突する with a total 補償(金) 法案 of more than £2 billion. Other big 貸付金 providers ― 含むing Barclays, の近くに Brothers and Santander ― are likely to 直面する 類似の 法案s.

Last month, の近くに Brothers 一時停止するd its (株主への)配当 支払い(額)s to 株主s because of 関心s over the size of the 補償(金) 法案 it could be landed with ― and is putting aside a £400 million 資本/首都 衝撃を和らげるもの as reserve.

負債 助言者 Sara Will iams, who runs 消費者 website 負債 Camel, says: ‘Most people assumed when taking out a car 貸付金 that the 利益/興味 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金d was just for 財政/金融ing the 取引,協定. They had no idea some of the 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金s would be creamed off as sales (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限.

‘Few people would have been aware that 詳細(に述べる)s of such (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限 支払い(額)s were buried in the small print.’

She 追加するs: ‘The way the 財政/金融 was sold made borrowers 攻撃を受けやすい to the ruse. After 存在 shown a car and agreeing on all the extras ― for example, alloy wheels and colour ― the 買い手 would then be 申し込む/申し出d a 貸付金 based on how much they could afford, rather than what was best for them. Often, the more they could afford, the more expensive their 貸付金 became.’

専門家s say car 貸付金 利益/興味 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金s of 4 per cent or いっそう少なく, at a time when the Bank of England base 率 was 1 per cent or lower ― from 2009 onwards ― may be みなすd 許容できる by the regulator. Those who paid more are likely to have been 裁判官d as 偉業/利用するd.

Anyone 自信のない about whether they paid too much for car 財政/金融 is 存在 encouraged to 接触する the dealership they got it from. They have a 義務 to 確認する whether the 貸付金 was 始める,決める up using a DCA.

Websites such as 負債 Camel and 消費者 権利s group 消費者 発言する/表明する have letter templates that can be used to 確実にする the dealership 供給するs the 訂正する (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状).?

Alex Neill, co-創立者 of 消費者 発言する/表明する, says: ‘This mis-selling スキャンダル could be 抱擁する ― and it is 権利 that it is 存在 dubbed “PPI on wheels”.’?

She believes the regulator will want to 避ける a repeat of the long-drawn-out PPI 危機. So, it is likely to produce a straightforward 是正する 計画/陰謀.

The FOS recently 支配するd in favour of two 運転者s who took out car 貸付金s with Barclays and 黒人/ボイコット Horse where DCAs had been struck with the dealerships.

The regulator 答える/応じるd by 開始する,打ち上げるing its 調査(する). It has now told car 財政/金融 貸す人s that they should not 解決する DCA (民事の)告訴s until its 結論s have been published.

And Ms Neill 警告するs 消費者s to steer (疑いを)晴らす of ‘救急車 chasing’ solicitors looking to make money from the 危機.

ツバメ 吊りくさび says you should start by asking your dealership if it had a discretionary (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限 協定 when you bought the car, by using the letter template at moneysavingexpert.com/ 埋め立てる/ 埋め立てる-car-財政/金融/#解放する/自由な-道具.

This can then be sent to the company, with a time-logged (民事の)告訴 含むd within the request. You will need 詳細(に述べる)s such as the 指名する of the 会社/堅い who 供給するd the 財政/金融 協定, 政策 number (if 利用できる), your 指名する, date of birth and 演説(する)/住所 ― 含むing if it was different when the 取引,協定 was taken out.

You might not get an 即座の reply, though most companies should 認める the request within 28 days. If it says you had a DCA then you could be in line for a payout ― but must wait until September for more 詳細(に述べる)s.

Yesterday, the FCA told Money Mail: ‘Discretionary (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限 手はず/準備 created an incentive for 仲買人s [dealerships] to 増加する how much people were 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金d for their car 貸付金. There has been a high number of (民事の)告訴s from 顧客s.

‘貸す人s and 仲買人s are 拒絶するing most of these (民事の)告訴s. We are 査定する/(税金などを)課すing the extent of the problem to make sure that if people are 借りがあるd 補償(金), it can be done in the best way possible.’

Adrian Dally, of the 財政/金融 and 賃貸し(する)ing 協会, says: ‘Discretionary (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限 手はず/準備 do not automatically mean 顧客s lost out. In practice, having discretion to change 利益/興味 率s often meant 売買業者s lowered them to be more 競争の激しい.’

Lloyds said: ‘The £450 million [we have 始める,決める aside] is in relation to モーター 財政/金融 (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限. It is for 操作の and 合法的な expenses, 同様に as 可能性のある 是正する. There remains 重要な 不確定 on the extent of 可能性のある 是正する, if any, and its タイミング. We welcome the FCA 介入.’
