The perfect introduction to Wainwright's Lake 地区 world - a stay in a cosy cottage overlooking the rambler's delight of Coniston

Alfred Wainwright once compared Coniston in the southern Lake 地区 with Zermatt way up in the スイスの アルプス山脈 ― 説 each seemed to have a 特に strong affinity with their nearest mountains.

These Germans turned out to be more than just dab 手渡すs at working the 巡査 seams. They are also believed to have introduced the recipes for 地元の sausages that were 結局 to become known as Cumberlands.

Whatever the truth of this, 巡査 採掘 began in the 1560s and continued till the 1950s.

予定する is still quarried and it’s possible to buy lovely silvery-green 厚板s at Coniston Stonecraft, a workshop on the path up to the Old Man behind the Sun Hotel.

This tucked-away 商売／仕事 is in old 鉄道 倉庫・駅 buildings for 巡査 鉱石 and 予定する; 跡をつけるs used to 勝利，勝つd up from Broughton-in-Furness.

You can learn all about this at the Ruskin Museum, just off the high street, の近くに to the gurgling water of Church B eck and a busy clutch of hostelries that 示す the village centre at a 十字路／岐路 by a 橋（渡しをする）.
