At first, there’s just a (n)艦隊／(a)素早いing glimpse as one breaks cover.
Moments later, it’s a whole family. And suddenly, with shrieks of delight from our children, we are in the 中央 of the 広大な／多数の／重要な 移住.
Kenya is famous for the 年次の trek of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti to the lush grasses of the Masai Mara, dodging lions and crocodiles all the way.
But we’re not watching that show. We’re just off a Kenyan beach, 見解（をとる）ing an 平等に みごたえのある 移住 ― of 猫背／ザトウ鯨 鯨s which voyage from Antarctica to the Indian Ocean each summer.
En 大勝する, they 小衝突 the Kenyan shoreline at Watamu ― and are just one of the attractions at this enchanting seaside town.
Robert Hardman visits the Kenyan coast where he watches the みごたえのある 移住 of 猫背／ザトウ鯨 鯨s, which voyage from Antarctica to the Indian Ocean each summer
For many, Kenya is all about going on safari. Yet, the Kenyan coast is far more beautiful, accessible ― and affordable ― than I thou ght. It is also ideal for summer holidays, as it is the 静かな season here, with lovely 気温s.
So before 支払う／賃金ing 頂点（に達する） prices in a European hotspot, look その上の south.
The East African nation is more of a trek than?Spain, but many of the eight-hour direct flights to the 資本／首都 Nairobi are 夜通し, there is no jet lag and there are plenty of 関係s to the coast at either Malindi or Mombasa.
We 選ぶd for a week in Watamu, where the days were balmy and the evenings delightfully 冷静な／正味の.
From 夜明け to dusk, we had the 十分な 熱帯の sandy beach experience, jumping off glass-底（に届く）d boats over a 珊瑚 暗礁 and lying on the sand eating freshly 削減（する） coconut.
While the 沿岸の town of Watamu, just 13 miles from Malindi airport, was far from empty, it was also far from 十分な.

My wife and I, 加える our three children (老年の 16, 14 and 11) stayed at Hemingways ― a handsome, low-lying spread with a 抱擁する pool above the beach.

Our Ocean 見解（をとる） apartment had two spacious bedrooms and an enormous living area, both 直面するing the Indian Ocean and 開始 on to a balcony that ran the length of our 控訴.
Two large bathrooms and a big kitchen 直面するd inland. Not that we were doing any cooking.
Hemingways’ restaurant had a 十分な brunch-style breakfast each morning.?Every evening, we had the choice of a buffet or an a la carte menu.
Outside, the chefs were 準備するing curries or 投げ上げる／ボディチェックするing steaks, snapper and 動かす-fry over 解雇する／砲火／射撃 炭坑，オーケストラ席s.
We often took a couple of tuk-tuks at lunchtime and 長，率いるd for the bazaars and restaurants of central Watamu.

This place is 法外なd in Swahili history with its Gede 廃虚s. There are Indian, Arab and Italian 影響（力）s, too. Browse the 立ち往生させるs for a famous kikoy sarong.
Just before dusk, 長，率いる to Mida Creek which opens into a 抱擁する inland lagoon.
There you can sit in a 妨げる／法廷，弁護士業 on stilts over the water with a cocktail and see the sun 始める，決める over the dhows and mangroves.
An 予期しない 最高潮の場面 was Watamu Snake Farm, a 聖域 for some of the world’s deadliest 見本／標本s, 含むing puff adders and spitting cobras.

Be there at 11am when venom is ‘milked’ for serum to 扱う／治療する bites which kill up to 1,000 Kenyans each year.
Another popular 位置／汚点／見つけ出す is Watamu 海がめ Watch’s 海洋 （警察などへの）密告，告訴（状） centre. The area is a 産む／飼育するing ground for 危うくするd sea 海がめs and if fishermen catch any in 逮捕するs, they bring them here.
As Watamu sits on a UNESCO-保護するd 海洋 reserve, it is not teeming with pedalos, jet skis and disco boats.
You need a day ticket to enter the reserve in a licensed glass-底（に届く）d tourist boat. It’s £12 for a day pass (£10 for a child) 加える the boat ticket.

A 船長／主将 will take you out to a 珊瑚 暗礁. All boats have 解放する／自由な snorkelling 道具s and life jackets. You can sunbathe 船内に or jump in to 見解（をとる） 海洋 life.
My lot tailed a stingray ― at a distance.
The high point was the afternoon on a Hemingways’ sport boat に引き続いて the 広大な／多数の／重要な 鯨 移住. It’s £80 each for a four-hour trip (with drinks and food).
We soon spotted a cloud of もや from a 鯨’s blowhole. Then the 猫背／ザトウ鯨s appeared, thwacking their tails on the water.
Suddenly, a mother surfaced with a calf, then a trio of 親族s, so の近くに we could hear them snorting.
On the way 支援する, our 船長／主将 Alfred 始める，決める up game-fishing lines. I reeled in a whopping sailfish, as long as me with a 3ft spike on its 法案. It took three of us to 運ぶ／漁獲高 it in, 持つ／拘留する it for a photo then 除去する the hook. Then we threw it 支援する.
What a day. What a week.
