My son was 問題/発行するd a 刑罰,罰則 notice for a ULEZ 違反, but he wasn't 運動ing and the plates have been cloned

  • ?Thomas Fryer paid £708 to a 負債 collection 会社/堅い when 脅すd with (強制)執行官s
  • ?犯罪のs copy 合法的 license plates, using them to 運動 類似の car models?

Our son has had a letter from a 負債 collection company 説 he has an 優れた 刑罰,罰則 notice from 輸送(する) for London for?非,不,無-支払い(額) of Ultra Low 放出/発行 Zone (ULEZ) 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金s.

He hasn't been to London, and while the car in the image looks 類似の to his and has the same number plate, it is a different 乗り物.?The picture is of a silver saloon, while he has an 広い地所, and the car has a sunroof while his does not.?

Thomas sold the car in July 2023, and the supposed offence happened in June 2023. He advertised the car on AutoTrader, showing the number plate, and I think someone has 設立する his 詳細(に述べる)s and copied his number plate.?

He moved house and has only just been made aware of the 問題/発行する. It has gone to 法廷,裁判所 and (強制)執行官s were 予定 to visit. He and his wife were both very worried about the letter they received, so they paid £708 to the 負債 collection company.

What can he do to get his money 支援する? K.F and T.F, Lancashire

The car captured by UL
EZ cameras was a silver saloon with a? sunroof
Thomas Fryer's vehicle is an estate model with roof rails

重要な difference: Thomas Fryer's car is an 広い地所 model, 反して the car 逮捕(する)d by ULEX cameras was a saloon

Harvey Dorset of This is Money replies: Since the introduction of ULEZ 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金s in 2019, number plate cloning has been on the rise.

Unsurprisingly, the tide of 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金s has also given rise to a 少数,小数派 of people who will do anything to 避ける 支払う/賃金ing their way, even if it means throwing somebody else under the bus.

によれば the DVLA, more than 12,000 drivers received 罰金s, 刑罰,罰則s or letters 予定 to other 乗り物s 陳列する,発揮するing their 登録 between January 2021 and September 2022.

犯罪のs copy 合法的 license plates, using them to 運動 類似の models of car ? often stolen or 存在 used for 犯罪の activity ? ーするために 避ける congestion 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金s, car parking 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金s and スピード違反 tickets.

When the cars are caught on camera, 直す/買収する,八百長をするd 刑罰,罰則 notices are 地位,任命するd to the 演説(する)/住所 of the innocent owner of the 初めの car, often leaving them hundreds of 続けざまに猛撃するs out of pocket or 直面するing a visit from the (強制)執行官s.

In the 事例/患者 of your son, he paid the 刑罰,罰則 notice rather than 危険 取引,協定ing with (強制)執行官s sent by a 負債 collection company, even though he knew he had never driven his car the 200-mile trip to London, from where he lives in Lancashire.

Thomas Fryer's car is a similar Honda model to that pictured in the ULEZ image
Criminals who cloned the car's plate generally target similar vehicle models to their car
? Slide me ?

Simila rity: 犯罪のs look for 類似の car models ーするために get away with parking 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金s, スピード違反 tickets and ULEZ 刑罰,罰則s - but there are some small differences between the car that Thomas owns and the one that was 逮捕(する)d on camera

In fact, Thomas told This is Money that not only has he never driven the car in question to London, but he also hasn't even visited the 資本/首都 in the past seven years.

I got in touch with 輸送(する) for London, which administrates the ULEZ 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金, to show it the 証拠 you had sent me and ask if it could 返す your money.?

I am pleased to hear that it has now 問題/発行するd you a 十分な £708 refund after 結論するing that you were not the driver 侵害する/違反するing ULEZ 支配するs.

However, plate cloning remains a growing 問題/発行する, and more and more people are 落ちるing 犠牲者 to this 罪,犯罪 every year.

A TfL 広報担当者 said: 'We're sorry that Mr Fryer has been a 犠牲者 of 乗り物 cloning.

'Unfortunately, as we did not receive a 代表 with 証拠 of cloning from Mr Fryer within the 要求するd time でっちあげる,人を罪に陥れるs, the 事例/患者 進歩d to an 施行 スパイ/執行官.?

'When Mr Fryer did 接触する us, he was advised to とじ込み/提出する an Out of Time Statutory 宣言 with the Traffic 施行 Centre.'

'Having reviewed the 事例/患者, we are 満足させるd that it is a cloned 乗り物 and have cancelled both PCNs and 問題/発行するd a 十分な refund to Mr Fryer.'

How to 避ける getting caught by plate cloners

Don't 地位,任命する online

避ける 地位,任命するing images of your car online that can be used to identify it.?

Bryn Brooker, 長,率いる of road safety at dashboard camera company Nextbase, says: 'Putting a picture of your car online with your license plate number in 見解(をとる) make it far easier for 犯罪のs to copy your license plate number, as they typically try to match plates to exact models and makes .?

'Make sure you obscure your license plate number or leave it out of the picture when 地位,任命するing any photos of your car online.'

Small measures: Bryn Brooker says adding identifiable features to your car can help you avoid paying someone else's fine

Small 対策: Bryn Brooker says 追加するing identifiable features to your car can help you 避ける 支払う/賃金ing someone else's 罰金

Customise your car

You don't need headlight eyelashes or neon lights adorning your car - but 追加するing identifiers can make your license plate more difficult to clone.?

Brooker 示唆するs 追加するing a country 旗 or other 合法的な badge, which will make it わずかに harder for your plate to be cloned 正確に/まさに.

'Make sure to take a photo of your car with the extra 詳細(に述べる) plate すぐに so you can 証明する you 港/避難所't 追加するd it on to 避ける the 罰金,' he says.

'A small but 明確に 明白な sticker on your lower windscreen can also help you to differentiate your car from anyone who spoofs it and is caught by a 速度(を上げる) or congestion 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金 camera.'

投資する in a dashcam

Apart from the other 利益s that a dash (機の)カム might 申し込む/申し出, such as 保護するing you against 保険 (人命などを)奪う,主張するs and deterring 窃盗, they can also be used to 証明する that your car has been cloned.

'Dash (機の)カムs timestamp their (映画の)フィート数, 申し込む/申し出ing you another 平易な way to 証明する that you weren't anywhere 近づく a 速度(を上げる) camera or 衝突,墜落 that occurred with a spoofed plate,' Brooker says.

'It could also be 極端に useful if someone tries to 現実に steal your plates or comes 近づく your car ? as it will start filming the moment the car is knocked or someone gets too の近くに.'
