The À¯ÉÜ È¯É½¤¹¤ëd Âкö to ·³Ââ tech companies to ³ä¤ìÌÜ É餫¤¹¡¿·âÄƤ¹¤ë on online º¾µ½ last year.

It ȼ¤¦¡¿´Ø¤ï¤ëd 11 of the world's biggest tech companies Ä´°õ a voluntary 'Online º¾µ½ ¼Ú¤êÀڤ롿·û¾Ï' which saw them ÀÀÌó¡Ê¤¹¤ë¡Ë to take ³èÆ°¡¿ÀïÆ® to Êݸ¤ë their »ÈÍѼÔs against online scams and to Éõº¿¤¹¤ë µ¶¤Î Äɲ乤ës and fraudulent content ±Æ¶Á¤¹¤ë¡¿´¶¾ðing their »ÈÍѼÔs.

Meta, which owns and operates Facebook has Ä´°õ¤¹¤ëd the ¼Ú¤êÀڤ롿·û¾Ï. As the ¼Ú¤êÀڤ롿·û¾Ï is voluntary, there are no ·ºÈ³¡¤È³Â§s if companies are ÀßΩ¤¹¤ë to not be doing enough in line with the ¾ò·ï.

TSB is now ´«¤á¤ëing social ¥Þ¥¹¥³¥ß companies to ÇÛ㤹¤ë on ¤«¤«¤ï¤ê¹ç¤¤s in the À¯ÉÜ's Online º¾µ½ ¼Ú¤êÀڤ롿·û¾Ï.

Matt Hepburn, º¾µ½ spokesperson at TSB, said: 'You wouldn't shop at a supermarket if a third of the items were stale or µ¶Â¤¤Î ? so the same should ŬÍѤ¹¤ë to Facebook Marketplace, where you could have a one in three chance of ¸ºß scammed when »Ùʧ¤¦¡¿Ä¶âing online.

'Social ¥Þ¥¹¥³¥ß companies really must ¹Ô°Ù¡¿Ë¡Îá¡¿¹ÔÆ°¤¹¤ë on their ¤«¤«¤ï¤ê¹ç¤¤s under the À¯ÉÜ's Online º¾µ½ ¼Ú¤êÀڤ롿·û¾Ï by ¶ÛµÞ¤Ë ¡Êµ¿¤¤¤ò¡ËÀ²¤é¤¹ing up their ÃÅ¡¦¹ËÎΡ¦¸øÌós ? ½üµî¤¹¤ëing scam adverts is a good first ¼Â¸³¡Ê¤¹¤ë¡Ë.'

Five tips to °ÌÃÖ¡¿±øÅÀ¡¿¸«¤Ä¤±½Ð¤¹ µ¶¤Î adverts?

1. ¸«²ò¡Ê¤ò¤È¤ë¡Ë the item in person

You can also ask the ÈÎÇä¿Í for a live ¥Ó¥Ç¥ª call. Pre-µÏ¿¡¤µÏ¿Åª¤Ê¡¿µÏ¿¤¹¤ëd ¥Ó¥Ç¥ªs won't work as they could also be stolen from a ËÜʪ¤Î advert.

2. Èò¤±¤ë bank °Üžs

Using the second-¼êÅϤ¹ ¾ì½ê¡¿°ÌÃÖ's own »Ùʧ¤¤¡Ê³Û¡Ë ÃÅ¡¦¹ËÎΡ¦¸øÌó often comes with better Êݸî.

3. µÕž¤¹¤ë Google search

Google has a feature that µö¤¹s you to drag images into the search ˸¤²¤ë¡¿Ë¡ÄÊÛ¸î»Î¶È and see where they have been used before, which can help you identify a scam advert.

4. Be ²ø¤·¤²¤Ê of low prices

µ¶¤Î adverts usually ̾Êí¡Ê¤ËºÜ¤»¤ë¡Ë¡¿É½¡Ê¤Ë¤¢¤²¤ë¡Ë the item for a price much lower than the ÉáÄ̤Ρ¿Ê¿¶Ñ¡Ê¤¹¤ë¡Ë. Do your ¸¦µæ.

5. Don't panic

Scammers use tricks to µÞ¤° you into a ·èÄ꡿ȽÄ꾡¤Á¡Ê¤¹¤ë¡Ë ¡½ such as making up another ²ÄǽÀ¤Î¤¢¤ë Ç㤤¼ê. Be ÍÑ¿´¿¼¤¤ if the ÈÎÇä¿Í is ŬÍѤ¹¤ëing a lot of °µÎÏ.
