Scammers stole £370 of my Nectar points: How did it happen?

忠義 cards have become a must-have for many 消費者s, who 恐れる having to 支払う/賃金 over the 半端物s as supermarkets 申し込む/申し出 排除的 取引,協定s to members.?

James* had spent just shy of two years collecting Sainsbury's Nectar points and had amassed nearly 74,000 points 価値(がある) £370.

But when he went to check his account online at the start of this year, he was shocked to find his account had been (疑いを)晴らすd 完全に.?

The account showed two small 処理/取引s in Hackney, East London, and three larger ones in a 石油 駅/配置する in Enfield.?

One of them used 47,000 points, 同等(の) to £235.

James, whose 指名する has been changed at his request, lives more than 100 miles away in Gloucester and was not in London that day.

Thankfully Nectar was quick to 答える/応じる, 問題/発行するing a 交替/補充 card, 復帰させるing his former balance and 追加するing 2,000 特別手当 points.

But James was keen to find out how his Nectar points could be spent in a different part of the country, and without the physical card.

Two days later, he called one of the 蓄える/店s in Enfield to ask whether they could look at their CCTV system to pinpoint the どろぼう, but was told he'd need to speak to a 経営者/支配人. He did not manage to get through.

Unfortunately for James*, Nectar card scams are not a new 現象?and have been doing the 一連の会議、交渉/完成するs for a number of years.

The Nectar card 計画/陰謀 was 開始する,打ち上げるd in 2002, and it is one of the largest 忠義 計画/陰謀s in Britain.

Each Nectar point is 価値(がある) 0.5p, so to save up a £1 価値(がある) of Nectar points, 顧客s will need 200 of them. This means 500 Points are 価値(がある) £2.50, 1,000 points are 価値(がある) £5 and 2,000 points are 価値(がある) £10.

Unlike a bank card, a Nectar card does not have a 半導体素子 and does not have 第2位 authentication, meaning it can be easier for 犯罪のs to use.

However, with CCTV in most, if not all, Sainsbury's 蓄える/店s, it shouldn't be hard to 跡をつける 負かす/撃墜する the 犯人s.

James said: 'I had heard of this some time ago and thought I was 免疫の from such a scam.

'Having since watched Youtube ビデオs and 研究d the 支配する, I didn't realise how 平易な it was for a 決定するd person to steal someone's points without the need to see the card, have 接近 to the card or even know me.?

'But as I have the time and date of the 処理/取引s, I believe it is possible to identify the 犯人(s) 関心d.'

Sainsbury's tight-lipped over account 違反?

This Is Money 接触するd Sainsbury's, who owns Nectar, to ask why nothing had been done to help find the 犯人(s) and how his points were used without a card.

A spokesperson said: 'The 安全 of our 顧客 accounts is our highest 優先.

'We have a 範囲 of 監視するing in place to help us to (悪事,秘密などを)発見する, and in many 事例/患者s 妨げる, 詐欺.?

'We also encourage our 顧客s to be vigilant with their own personal (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状), such as 確実にするing passwords are unique and not 株d across 多重の 壇・綱領・公約s.

'Our 顧客 services team has 調査/捜査するd and spoken to 確認する the fraudulent activity on his account.?

'We have also reimbursed him for the Nectar points which were stolen and 供給するd an 付加 2,000 Nectar points as a gesture of 好意/親善. A new card should arrive within a few days.'

While the points may have been 復帰させるd, it does not explain how the points had been used, or help other Nectar card 支えるもの/所有者s who want to 保護する themselves from these types of scams.

Most surprisingly, Sainsbury's have 示唆するd 犠牲者s 言及する the 問題/発行する to the police - rather than 取引,協定ing with the problem itself.

A spokesperson said: 'CCTV (映画の)フィート数 in our 蓄える/店s is 蓄える/店d for 31 days before it's overridden. 予定 to data 保護 the 顧客 is 責任がある 報告(する)/憶測ing any 問題/発行する to the police. We can then support an 調査 in any way we can.'

James* did try to 報告(する)/憶測 the scam to 活動/戦闘 詐欺 two days after the event, but it told him it was not possible for the police to 調査/捜査する.?

He was told: 'It is not a police recordable 罪,犯罪. Where the 詳細(に述べる)s are used to 得る goods or services, we can only 記録,記録的な/記録する a 罪,犯罪 on に代わって of the person or organisation which was defrauded as a result of the misuse of an 身元'.

活動/戦闘 詐欺 did not 答える/応じる to a request for その上の 解明.
