Anyone who makes money from their hobbies and selling items online could be 攻撃する,衝突する with 税金 法案s and 罰金s unless they get their 税金 事件/事情/状勢s in order now, 専門家s are 警告.

Anyone who earns いっそう少なく than £1,000 on 味方する gigs in a 税金 year does not have to 支払う/賃金 税金 or 宣言する this income, thanks to the 貿易(する)ing Allowance.

You can also earn up to £7,500 税金-解放する/自由な from letting out furnished accommodation in your home, under the Rent A Room 計画/陰謀.

However, if you make even £1 above your 年次の allowances then you need to tell the taxman, either by 接触するing HMRC and asking for your 税金 code to be changed or through a self-査定/評価 税金 return.

New 規則s from January 1 will 要求する 数字表示式の 壇・綱領・公約s such as eBay, Uber and Airbnb to 報告(する)/憶測 (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) about the income of their 使用者s 直接/まっすぐに to HMRC.

Until now, HMRC has been able to request this data on an 広告 hoc basis, but from January 1 it will start to be given automatically.

Who needs to 支払う/賃金 税金?

Although the 数字表示式の 壇・綱領・公約s will 報告(する)/憶測 income (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) to HMRC, it is still up to the individual to 宣言する their own income and 支払う/賃金 any 税金 予定.

You only need to 支払う/賃金 税金 if you’re considered a ‘仲買人’ by HMRC. This usually means that you buy and sell online 定期的に to make a 利益(をあげる). You can check how HMRC 見解(をとる)s your circumstances at gov.uk/check-付加-income-税金.

For example, if you (疑いを)晴らす out your attic and sell your unwanted items online without ーするつもりであるing to make a 利益(をあげる), this is ありそうもない to be 分類するd as 貿易(する)ing even if you 越える your £1,000 allowance.

類似して, if you occasionally make cakes for friends and family and they 支払う/賃金 you small sums to say thank you, then you may not have to 支払う/賃金 税金 on it.

However, if you often buy and sell 着せる/賦与するs online to make a 利益(をあげる), you could 直面する a 法案.

What about my historic income?

It is not enough to start 支払う/賃金ing 税金s now. ‘There are a lot of people who are going to have to clean up their history 同様に,’ says Robert.

He explains that if you have been 収入 a small 量 over your allowance, you can usually とじ込み/提出する 税金 returns for those years retrospectively and 支払う/賃金 the 税金 予定.

‘There is a slight chance that HMRC will 問題/発行する 刑罰,罰則s, but in a lot of 事例/患者s if you 反対/詐欺 tact HMRC proactively and have small 法案s to 支払う/賃金, you should be 承認する,’ he says.

You may have to 完全にする 税金 returns to 宣言する the money earned from your hobbies, even if you have no other income and earn below your basic personal allowance of £12,570.

Any income for the 税金 year ending on April 5 this year needs to be 報告(する)/憶測d to HMRC by January 31 next year.
