Should I get a part-time job or start my own business? Dave Fishwick replies

Should I get a part-time 職業 or start my own 商売/仕事? Dave Fishwick replies?

I'm 20, in my second year of 熟考する/考慮するing at university and need to make some extra money to help with my living costs.

I have had a look around for 職業s and have 設立する a few that I could do, 範囲ing from 妨げる/法廷,弁護士業 work, waiting (米)棚上げする/(英)提議するs or kitchen work, to some call centre work.

I would need to make sure that any 職業 fits 一連の会議、交渉/完成する my 熟考する/考慮するs and is either in the evenings after university or on days when I don't have lectures.

This can be やめる tricky as understandably, places want you to work when they need you and that can 伴う/関わる late hours or times when I need to be able to 熟考する/考慮する.

I read a story about people doing 味方する hustles or setting up their own s 商店街 part-time 商売/仕事 instead of getting part-time 職業s and though maybe this would be a good idea.

I'm not sure what I could do though. I thought about maybe trying to use one of my 技術s, such as English 教えるing or cooking and baking (I am a keen amateur cook and have worked in kitchens), or trying to 始める,決める up a 商売/仕事 buying and selling things ? I had an idea about selling 利益/興味ing and useful kitchen items and gadgets.

What do you think, should I go for a 職業 or a 味方する hustle and if I choose the latter, how do I work out what to do?

Dave Fishwick, This Is Money's 商売/仕事 doctor, replies: A part-time 職業 is the obvious way you could earn some extra cash, and in the wake of the pandemic, it seems that there are more 職業s than there are people to fill them, which should work in your favour.

This might be the best place for you to start.

You can always think about other ways to make money on your time off while 収入 a 行う.

I think an excellent way to start is a mixture of working for yourself and some part-time paid work, which is how I started. I have been self-雇うd for many years and began with three 職業s.

First off, I worked very 早期に in the morning selling 着せる/賦与するing 製品s on Smithfield Market in Manchester.?

The market opened at 3am for shops, hotels and restaurants to buy all their food produce, and I was there 早期に selling t-shirts, tracksuits, and sweatshirts to the 顧客s. I was the only one selling 着せる/賦与するing in this 大規模な market 十分な of people.

I bought the 在庫/株 from a 地元の 倉庫/問屋 at Cheetham Hill in Manchester. I was around 18-years-old, selling my 在庫/株 from a 広大な brown スーツケース and walking around the market, speaking to as many people as possible.

I would then 運動 支援する to Burnley at around 8am in my old (警官の)巡回区域,受持ち区域-up Austin Maestro 先頭. I would take the gates off my little rented garage and start 直す/買収する,八百長をするing up, valeting and selling some old cars from my little car pitch.

I did everything from きれいにする the 洗面所 to 配達するing the 乗り物s on the 支援する of my old トラックで運ぶ.

After I finished the day at the garage around 6pm, I would 得る,とらえる a few hours' sleep and then 運動 to the 地元の nightclub. I worked there as a DJ until late, and it all started again the morning after.

Today, I see many influencers online spraying 瓶/封じ込めるs of expensive シャンペン酒 into the sea from the 味方する of 高くつく/犠牲の大きい ヨットs; it is nonsense to say you can work one day a week and be an instant millionaire.

In my experience, there is no 平易な way to 後継する. However, I 約束 you that hard work will put you where some good luck can find you.

Some 職業s need you to be there at 明確な/細部 times, such as public-直面するing 商売/仕事s like restaurants, 妨げる/法廷,弁護士業s, and coffee shops. With other 職業s, it's いっそう少なく important when the work is done, so long as it does get done.

妨げる/法廷,弁護士業 work is one example where you can work evenings, but plenty of other 職業s 申し込む/申し出 転換 work. 最初, I 示唆する you look through all the 地元の and 地域の 職業 広告s, 雇用 apps and websites for positions that 申し込む/申し出 suitable or 柔軟な hours.

You're in a difficult position to start a 従来の 商売/仕事, and you can't afford to 危険 much, if any, money starting a 商売/仕事, which 支配するs out the buy-in-本体,大部分/ばら積みの and sell individual 商売/仕事 model unless someone you know is 用意が出来ている to 基金 it, maybe the Bank of Mum and Dad.

Alternatively, send me all your 詳細(に述べる)s to Burnley 貯金 and 貸付金s, and perhaps I will lend you a little start-up money for your small 商売/仕事 投機・賭ける.

There will always be 適切な時期s to make a 利益(をあげる) on ind ividual items.?

A few years 支援する, I noticed that because a particular Swedish homeware 蓄える/店 chain didn't 申し込む/申し出 online shopping, a 私的な individual who must've lived 近づく a 蓄える/店 was making money by 申し込む/申し出ing their 製品s on a shopping 壇・綱領・公約 website with an 追加するd 利ざや for himself.

However, the company spotted the 行方不明になるd 適切な時期 and does now 申し込む/申し出 online shopping.

There may still be 適切な時期s to 利益 from this 肉親,親類d of arbitrage, though. For example, one big shopping 壇・綱領・公約 申し込む/申し出s 解放する/自由な, 急速な/放蕩な 配達/演説/出産 with 賞与金 会員の地位, 反して others don't.

I've noticed some 販売人s seem to be 申し込む/申し出ing 製品s on the 壇・綱領・公約 which doesn't, at a higher price than the one that does.

This wouldn't 要求する any upfront 投資 other than 名簿(に載せる)/表(にあげる)ing and 賞与金 会員の地位 料金s. You can wait for the 壇・綱領・公約 to 申し込む/申し出 解放する/自由な 名簿(に載せる)/表(にあげる)ing days, but you would have to build in the cost of the (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金d when you do sell an item.

But you're in a different position, and you've plenty of time ahead of you to think of your 大勝する to success.

The most important advice I could give is whatever you choose to do, don't let it 干渉する too much with your 熟考する/考慮するs to the point where it 影響する/感情s your grades.

The cost of going to university and getting a degree these days is 極端に high.?

However, on your days off you could be cooking a 抱擁する マリファナ of broth and then renting a little food 立ち往生させる at the 地元の market with very low 総計費s and selling teas, coffees, and 麻薬を吸うing hot bowls of broth and dumplings, that just might be the start of your 旅行.
