New Isa 支配するs explained for 2024/25: What does it mean for savers and 投資家s?

  • New Isa 支配するs mean savers can 支払う/賃金 into as many Isas as they want from 6 April
  • We look at the 利益s of each type of Isa and how the new Isa 支配するs will work

In a major shake-up of 税金-解放する/自由な accounts, savers and 投資家s can now open and 支払う/賃金 into as many Isas as they like - 妨げる/法廷,弁護士業 the Lifetime Isa - capped at £20,000 for the 2024/25 財政上の year.

以前, savers could only open and 支払う/賃金 into one cash Isa and one 在庫/株s and 株 Isa per year.?

This has now changed?under 支配するs?発表するd by the (ドイツなどの)首相/(大学の)学長?last November.

The underlying デオキシリボ核酸 of cash, innovative 財政/金融 and 在庫/株s and 株 Isas is the same: You have a 最大限 £20,000 allowance you can put into any per year.

Head to head: New Isa rules coming into force on 6 April mean savers and investors can pay into multiple cash and stocks and shares Isas so long as they keep to the £20,000 limit

長,率いる to 長,率いる: New Isa 支配するs coming into 軍隊 on 6 April mean s avers and 投資家s can 支払う/賃金 into 多重の cash and 在庫/株s and 株 Isas so long as they keep to the £20,000 限界

Money in an Isa is 保護するd from 税金, and you have the 柔軟性 to 移転 from one to another (if the provider 許すs it) or 身を引く your cash at any time. However, each has their own quirks.

The Lifetime Isa is a separate type of 取引,協定 meant to help buy a house or save for 退職, and also comes in cash or 在庫/株s and 株 選択s.?

We look at the 利益s of each type of Isa 同様に as the Isa 支配する changes, which will 許す savers to 持つ/拘留する more than one of each, in more depth.

What changed on 6 April?

From Saturday 6 April, savers are now able to 支払う/賃金 into as many 在庫/株s and 株, cash or innovative 財政/金融 Isas as they like, with as many different providers as they choose. This change 除外するs the Lifetime Isa.

Innovative 財政/金融 Isas are designed for peer-to-peer lending, which 伴う/関わるs an 投資家 using a 壇・綱領・公約 to make 貸付金s to 消費者s or 商売/仕事s in return for an 利益/興味 率 return ? typically two to three times that on cash.

存在するing 支配するs meant savers were only able to 支払う/賃金 into one cash Isa, one 在庫/株s and 株 Isa and one innovative 財政/金融 Isa with their 現在の year's allowance.

This change will not 適用する to the new British Isa?at the moment, as this type of Isa has yet to be rolled out.?

The British Isa was 発表するd by the (ドイツなどの)首相/(大学の)学長 in his 最新の 予算. The new type of Isa will 許す 投資家s to 投資する an 付加 £5,000 a year 税金 解放する/自由な in UK 資産s, on 最高の,を越す of the 存在するing allowance of £20,000 in cash or 株 in each 税金 year.

Will savers be able to open up 制限のない Isas?

Technically the answer is yes.??

Savers a nd 投資家s will be able to open and subscribe to as many 在庫/株s and 株 Isas, cash Isas or innovative 財政/金融 Isas as they wish, across as many providers as they wish.

But their total subscriptions across all providers and accounts must remain within the £20,000 Isa subscription 限界 per 税金 year.

The onus will still be on savers to stay within the Isa 限界 of £20,000 per 税金 year and make sure they don't 越える their 限界.

Another thing to watch out for if you are transferring an Isa is whether the new provider 受託するs 移転s in.??

Who will the new Isa 支配するs 利益?

専門家s are 希望に満ちた the changes will 誘発する/引き起こす more 競争 の中で Isa providers to 申し込む/申し出 better 率s to savers.

The changes should make it easier for savers to choose the best Isas for them ― for example, you could 持つ/拘留する both an 平易な-接近 and a 直す/買収する,八百長をするd-率 cash Isa ― and snap up attractive 取引,協定s.

Andrew Prosser, of 投資 壇・綱領・公約 InvestEngine, said: 'The 制限s on 開始 and 基金ing just one type of Isa per year has meant that many people putting money into cash Isas get stuck with poor 率s.

'Sim ilarly, those 投資するing in a 在庫/株s and 株 Isa can be 攻撃する,衝突する with high and uncompetitive 料金s, with no way of 避けるing these until the end of the 税金 year or by sacrificing their allowance.

'許すing 多重の Isa subscriptions will bring more 柔軟性 to the Isa 政権 and foster much needed 競争 in the market.

'Individuals with 在庫/株s and 株 accounts will now be able to move their 基金s to new providers that 申し込む/申し出 lower or 無 料金s on accounts, all while 保護するing the 税金-解放する/自由な status of their 基金s and 確実にするing that they can make their money go その上の.'

Alice Haine, personal 財政/金融 分析家 at Bestinvest by Evelyn Partners, said: 'This change will be useful for 投資家s who want to use more than one provider or have different Isas for different 財政上の goals.'

Are providers ready for change?

This change to Isas is not 義務的な and Isa providers can choose to 限界 subscriptions to only one Isa held with them in any 税金 year.

This means the 衝撃 of providers not 配達するing this change has little change from a regulatory 視野.

Hargreaves Lansdown has already 開始する,打ち上げるd a multi-bank cash Isa which 許すs savers to spread their Isa allowance over different accounts with different banks, so savers were already able to spread their money around Isas with this 壇・綱領・公約.

What are the 利益s of a cash Isa?

If know you need a 明確な/細部 sum of money in the 近づく 未来, cash is often the most sensible home for your money.

The 利益/興味 from cash Isas is 保証(人)d and if something was to go wrong with a provider, the first £85,000 with each 会社/堅い would be 保護するd by the 財政上の Services 補償(金) 計画/陰謀 (FSCS).

Alice Haine said: 'Cash Isas make sense for those that want to 接近 their money for short-称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 goals within the next five years, but not so 広大な/多数の/重要な if they want to 達成する higher returns to 支払う/賃金 for a child's education or 退職 ? something a 在庫/株s and 株 Isa is more likely to 達成する for a long-称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 投資家 looking to 持つ/拘留する の上に their money for five years or more.'

What are the 利益s of a 在庫/株s and 株 Isa?

Although the value will fluctuate in the short 称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語, over the longer-称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 在庫/株s and 株 Isas tend to outperform their cash 代案/選択肢s.

Over the past five years, £1,000 投資するd in a 全世界の tracker 基金 would have earned an extra £833 in the 普通の/平均(する) 在庫/株s and 株 Isa, while in a cash Isa it would have earned £52, 人物/姿/数字s from Hargreaves Lansdown show.

Over ten years, 投資するing in a 在庫/株s and 株 Isa would have 追加するd £1,243 to your 初めの £1,000, while a cash Isa would have 追加するd £90.

If you're putting money aside for the long 称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語, 投資s stand a better chance of (警官の)巡回区域,受持ち区域ing インフレーション and 配達するing growth than cash.

For the sake of your long-称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 wealth, it 支払う/賃金s to 持つ/拘留する 投資s in a 在庫/株s and 株 Isa and not lose a chunk of 利益(をあげる)s and (株主への)配当s to 税金 - and then see the 可能性のある 影響 of that 構内/化合物 over the years.

This has become even more important, as at the start of the new 税金 year on 6 April 2023, the 資本/首都 伸び(る)s 税金-解放する/自由な allowance was 削除するd from £12,300 to £6,000 and the (株主への)配当 税金-解放する/自由な allowance was 削減(する) from £2,000 to £1,000.

It is even worse now as the 資本/首都 伸び(る)s 税金 allowance dived again to £3,000 on 6 April 2024 and the (株主への)配当 allowance fell to just £500.

-Find out how to 選ぶ the best 在庫/株s and 株 Isa

最終的に, there is no 推論する/理由 why savers shouldn't 得る the shorter-称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 利益s of a cash Isa and the longer-称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 returns of a 在庫/株s and 株 Isa, if they want to.

Chapman says: 'Most years you may 井戸/弁護士席 need to put money into 貯金 and 投資s at the same time.?

'Most of the time there's something on the horizon to 投資する for and something 一連の会議、交渉/完成する the corner that 要求するs 貯金.?

'There's nothing to stop you mixing and matching, while benefitting from 税金 貯金 in an Isa.'

What about 柔軟な Isas?

A 柔軟な Isa lets you 身を引く your money and, crucially, put it 支援する again without 影響する/感情ing your 年次の allowance - 供給するd you 支払う/賃金 it 支援する in the same 税金 year.?

They are most 有益な for those with large cash マリファナs who are able to max out their £20,000 Isa allowance each year.

If you put £20,000 in a cash Isa and then take £5,000 out, in a 非,不,無-柔軟な Isa you lose that £5,000 from your allowance.

With a 柔軟な Isa you can put money you 身を引く 支援する in and not lose your allowance, so long as you put it 支援する in within the same 税金 year.

A lot of banks and building societies don't 申し込む/申し出 柔軟な Isas - and some that do will have 限界s on the number of 撤退s you can make per year before your 率 急落するs.

半導体素子, which is an app-only provider, 申し込む/申し出s a 柔軟な 平易な 接近 Isa 支払う/賃金ing 5.1 per cent.

For those who'd prefer not to use an app-only account, Principality Building Society's Online 特別手当 Isa is 支払う/賃金ing 5 per cent.

Zopa Bank's 平易な-接近 Isa is 柔軟な and 支払う/賃金s 5.08 per cent.?
