A 巨大(な) Chinese 貨物 ship 板材s 負かす/撃墜する the West Coast of Africa before making its way around the Cape of Good Hope. The 'BYD Explorer 1' is returning from a 潜在的に game-changing 貿易(する) 使節団: to flood Europe with cheaper electric cars, and knock Tesla off its perch.

The 200-metre long 大型船 is two weeks into the return 脚 of its maiden voyage, having dropped off more than 5,000 乗り物s at ports in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium.

Its final 目的地 is Shenzhen in South-East 中国, whence it 始める,決める sail more than two months ago.

This bustling city 近づく Hong Kong is home to the ship's owner, BYD. This is a company so big it has built its own 塀で囲むd town, 完全にする with an airport-style monorail for 労働者s.

The brand ? which stands for Build Your Dreams ? is 支援するd by 伝説の US 投資家 過密な住居 Buffet and is the biggest car 製造業者 most 西部の人/西洋人s have never heard of.

But that is about to change. BYD recently pipped Elon Musk's Tesla to become the biggest-selling 製造業者 of electric cars in the world in the final three months of last year.

Some are dubbing BYD the 'Tesla 殺し屋', after it (機の)カム out on 最高の,を越す in a 残虐な price war in 中国, a country which builds and buys more electric cars than the 残り/休憩(する) of the world 連合させるd. BYD looks unstoppable.

However, old-fashioned 保護貿易主義 might 激突する on the ブレーキs. にもかかわらず ambitious 環境の 的s to 禁止(する) sales of new 石油 and ディーゼル cars in just over a 10年間, the UK's 貿易(する) 長官 示す Harper last week said Britain could use '強健な' 貿易(する) 許可/制裁s to 妨げる 中国 from flooding the market with cheap electric 乗り物s.

And the 地位,任命する-Brexit 貿易(する) 監視者, the 貿易(する) 治療(薬)s 当局, has also signalled it is ready to 開始する,打ち上げる an 調査 into Chinese EVs.

国会議員s in Europe and the US have baulked at the prospect of their 国民s buying cheaper electric cars, subsidised by the People's 共和国 of 中国.

Pushback from Western 政府s is the biggest 脅し to BYD's 前進する.
