A tale of a 長,指導者 (n)役員/(a)執行力のある about to join a high-profile British company has gone 負かす/撃墜する in City folklore.?

Before taking the reins, a 信用d 助言者 asks him the rather ぎこちない question of how much he thought he should be paid.

'Many of these companies have a 重要な US 足跡 and 特記する/引用する the 不平等 in 支払う/賃金 levels between the UK and US as a challenge when competing for and 保持するing 上級の talent in a 全世界の marketplace,' said Deloitte partner Mitul Shah.

But are British-based bosses really underpaid? And is there any 証拠 that more lucrative 取引,協定s on 申し込む/申し出 across the 大西洋 are 原因(となる)ing an (n)役員/(a)執行力のある exodus of 最高の,を越す talent?

To find out, The Mail on Sunday compared the 支払う/賃金 of 長,指導者 (n)役員/(a)執行力のあるs from 主要な 会社/堅いs on both 味方するs of the pond.?

We 設立する that US bosses 一般に earn more than their British 相当するものs but the gap is not always that big, 特に when 株式市場 valuations are considered.

Charles Woodburn at BAE Systems took home £13.5 million last year ? nearly £5 million いっそう少なく that the boss of Lockheed ツバメ. But the US defence 請負業者 is 価値(がある) more than twice as much as BAE based on their 各々の 株 prices.

He has been playing catch-up ever since and is now Britain's highest paid boss, 収入 £16.9 million last year. It is true that Nath earns a lot いっそう少なく than his peer at Stryker. But that may be because 投資家s 率 the US 競争相手 more 高度に, giving it a 株式市場 price tag more than ten times that of Smith & 甥.

That has put him on a par with Jeffrey Sprecher, who runs the New York 在庫/株 交流 owner Intercontinental 交流.

Companies such as chipmaker Arm Holdings, plumbing 巨大(な) Ferguson and Tarmac-owner CRH already have moved their main 名簿(に載せる)/表(にあげる)ing to 塀で囲む Street.

(n)役員/(a)執行力のある 支払う/賃金 is higher in the US ? but so too is 支払う/賃金 不平等. 反して the typical FTSE 100 boss earns 109 times more than an 従業員's 普通の/平均(する) 支払う/賃金, the 割合 in the US for the 最高の,を越す 500 会社/堅いs is 272 times.

But it is often forgotten that US bosses also (権力などを)行使する much more 力/強力にする in the boardroom than their UK peers. They usually 連合させる the 役割 of 長,指導者 (n)役員/(a)執行力のある and chairman ? something frowned upon here. There is also scant 証拠 of an active 移転 market in disgruntled UK (n)役員/(a)執行力のあるs 長,率いるing west for big bucks.

Perhaps the most successful British-born (n)役員/(a)執行力のある in the US is Jane Fraser but she rose through the 階級s before taking over at 投資 bank Citigroup.

It is also 重要な that the 名簿(に載せる)/表(にあげる) of highest-paid bosses of British companies is 支配するd by foreigners. That 示唆するs London is still a magnet for attracting and 保持するing footloose 全世界の (n)役員/(a)執行力のあるs ? whatever the 支払う/賃金.

On that 手段 at least, 報告(する)/憶測s of the City's demise as a 主要な 財政上の centre look premature.
