Will YOU have to sell your home to 支払う/賃金 for care? Typical £300k 所有物/資産/財産 would 基金 a care home for seven years...

Selling a 所有物/資産/財産 価値(がある) around £300,000 will 支払う/賃金 the costs of living in a care home for seven years, new 研究 明らかにする/漏らすs.

The cost of care in a 居住の home has risen by about 20 per cent to £816 a week or around £42,400 a year since 2020-2021.

That はるかに引き離すs the rise in 普通の/平均(する) house prices in England, which have 増加するd 12 per cent in the same period, 潜在的に 減ずるing the 量 of cash a homeowner could raise if they need to move to a care home.

Care costs have risen faster than house prices in all English 地域s during this time, によれば the 熟考する/考慮する by 財政上の services 会社/堅い Just Group.

'The home is often the most 価値のある 資産 which, under 現在の 支配するs, makes it a major source of 財政/金融 for people 基金ing their own care,' says director Stephen Lowe.

Some 40 per cent of homeowners 老年の 45-加える 調査するd for Just's 最新の 年次の care 報告(する)/憶測 said they would sell their homes to 支払う/賃金 for care, ahead of any other 基金ing 選択 such as 年金s, 投資s or the 明言する/公表する.

At 現在の, 改革(する)s to how people will have to 支払う/賃金 for care are on 持つ/拘留する after the 政府 延期するd the 開始する,打ち上げる of a lifetime care spending cap until autumn 2025, after the next 選挙.

How is care paid for at 現在の??

Under the 現在の system someone's 資産s - 含むing the family home - is 使い果たすd 負かす/撃墜する to £23,250 if they need to go into a care home.?

If you need care in your own home, your 資産s must be 使い果たすd to a level 始める,決める by your 地元の 会議, which cannot be lower than £23,250, but your home is 除外するd from this means 実験(する).

The 計画(する) would introduce an £86,000 天井 on how much an individual has to spend on care - but based on some, not all, of their 私的な 出資/貢献s rather than on total costs - and raise the threshold to start receiving support from £23,250 to £100,000.?

'The "house price to care cost" 割合 is a useful 手段 because 現在/一般に about half of care home 居住(者)s 支払う/賃金 all their own 料金s and a 重要な 量 of 基金ing is sourced from people selling their homes,' says Lowe.

But 地域の differences in 普通の/平均(する) house prices and care costs create some 抱擁する 不平等s in how far 所有物/資産/財産 wealth will stretch if you need care.

普通の/平均(する) care costs are lowest in north east England at £35,672 a year, but house prices at £157,557 would cover about four and a half years of care.

Care 料金s in London are the second highest in the country after the south east at £46,852 a year, but much higher than 普通の/平均(する) house prices of £508,037 would 基金 nearly 11 years in a 居住の home.

However, Londoners' ability to 支払う/賃金 for care is 存在 squeezed because from 2020-2021 普通の/平均(する) house prices have risen 3 pe r cent but 居住の home 料金s have jumped 17 per cent.

The 人物/姿/数字s used by Just Group in this (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する come from the 政府's UK House Price 索引 from December 2023 and Laing & Buisson's Care Homes For Older People UK Market 報告(する)/憶測, 33rd 版.

Lowe says of the data in the (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する above: 'These are 楽観的な 人物/姿/数字s because in the real-world self-funders 会合 all their own costs 支払う/賃金 higher 料金s than those receiving some or all 会議 基金ing, while the costs would be higher still if specialist nursing care were needed.

'Under the 現在の means-実験(する)d social care system, those with 資産s of more than £23,250 have to 支払う/賃金 for their own care and this will 含む their 住居 unless it is still 存在 lived in by someone such as a spouse.

'改革(する)s that might have helped to 保護する the value of the home have been 延期するd and may never be 器具/実施するd.

'The care 部門 is 直面するing 抱擁する 基金ing 圧力s and, as we 長,率いる に向かって a 総選挙, 投票者s should look at what answers the 政治家,政治屋s are 示唆するing.'
