I paid £5,000 to kitchen 会社/堅い that went 破産した/(警察が)手入れする but 全国的な says I'm too late to get it 支援する: CRANE ON THE CASE

  • S.H paid an upfront deposit for an 拡張 and new kitchen to a building 会社/堅い?
  • 会社/堅い went under - but time 延期するs meant her 支払い(額) 論争 was in danger?
  • Have you had a problem with a 会社/堅い? Email helen.crane@thisismoney.co.uk?

In July 2022, I 雇うd a 地元の 会社/堅い to 任命する/導入する a new kitchen in my home and build an 拡張. I paid a deposit of £5,000 upfront.

It told me it was fully 調書をとる/予約するd, and that while it could do some 初期の work in August 2022, it wouldn't be able to start my 拡張 until May 2023.?

I tried to get in touch to arrange a time for them to start the work. August (機の)カム and went, and I continued calling and emailing but had no reply.

This went on for months. I even wrote letters to their office, but no-one replied. More than a year later, in August 2023, I searched Companies House and saw that the company had gone into 行政 earlier that month.

Extended wait: This reader was left hanging by a company she hired to do work on her home (stock image, posed by model)

延長するd wait: This reader was left hanging by a company she 雇うd to do work on her home (在庫/株 image, 提起する/ポーズをとるd by model)

I 始める,決める about trying to 埋め立てる the £5,000 deposit from my bank, 全国的な 経由で a ビザ 支払い(額) 論争.?

On its website it said that if the company had gone into 行政, the time 限界 between 支払う/賃金ing the money and making the (人命などを)奪う,主張する was 540 days. I とじ込み/提出するd within 506 days, but was surprised to see it was 拒絶する/低下するd.

I'm at a total loss as to what to do, as £5,000 is a lot of money to me. The 条件 seemed very simple and (疑いを)晴らす and I thought I'd 固執するd to them perfectly. Did I get it wrong? S.H, Derbyshire

Helen Crane of This is Money replies:?I'm sorry to hear you got caught up with this cowboy 会社/堅い.?

After not only 手渡すing over a 重要な sum for the 約束 of a shiny new kitchen, but also graciously agreeing to wait for the work to start, you were left 完全に in the dark about what was going on.?

In fact, the only update you ever got was when you ran into someone from the company in the supermarket in September 2022. They 保証するd you everything was 罰金 and they would call you soon. But of course, they never did.

You'd been told the 本体,大部分/ばら積みの of the work wasn't 始める,決める to start until May 2023, so you 最初 weren't too worried, assuming they were just very busy.?

CRANE ON THE CASE?

Our 週刊誌 column sees This is Money 消費者 専門家 Helen Crane 取り組む reader problems and 向こうずね the light on companies doing both good and bad.

But as that time drew closer, you realised you were 存在 ghosted.?

You threw the kitchen 沈む at trying to get this 会社/堅い to fulfil its 約束, making endless calls, emails and even 令状ing letters.

As it turned out, the company was in 深い trouble.?

We don't know if it was aware at the time it took your deposit that your 拡張 might never get built, but its 失敗 to communicate what was happening to you was very shoddy practice indeed.?

As the 会社/堅い 中止するd to 存在する many months ago, I wasn't able to 接触する it and ask.

In these unfortunate 状況/情勢s, 顧客s are able to make a (人命などを)奪う,主張する to a company's 行政官/管理者s for money 借りがあるd.?

However, any money remaining in the company must be 分配するd in a 確かな order, and 顧客s are behind staff, 年金 計画/陰謀s, and some of the company's 貸す人s in the 列.?

In practice it means they 定期的に 直面する a long wait, only to find they have been left with nothing.?

A more 現実主義の prospect for most is to (人命などを)奪う,主張する their money 支援する from their bank or building society through a 支払い(額) 論争 with the card handler, so you 長,率いるd to the 全国的な website and 試みる/企てるd to do this.

The 行き詰まり,妨げる is that this 過程 has time 限界s 課すd by handler, which in this 事例/患者 was ビザ.?

If, as in your 事例/患者, there was a large gap between the 顧客 支払う/賃金ing the company and the company going out of 商売/仕事, that can 原因(となる) problems.

Having work done: S.H had plans for an extension on her kitchen, but was fobbed off for over a year by the firm she hired - then it went into administration

Having work done: S.H had 計画(する)s for an 拡張 on her kitchen, but was fobbed off for over a year by the 会社/堅い she 雇うd - then it went into 行政

The 支配するs, as 明言する/公表するd on 全国的な's website, say that there is a 120-day 限界 between the 推定する/予想するd date of 配達/演説/出産 (in your 事例/患者, the start date of the work) and making the (人命などを)奪う,主張する.?

But if the company had gone into 行政, this could be 延長するd to 540 days between the money 存在 paid and making the (人命などを)奪う,主張する.?

You submitted your (人命などを)奪う,主張する on 10 December 2023, 506 days after you paid the £5,000 deposit.?

You believed you had got in under the wire - so were surprised when 全国的な 拒絶する/低下するd it, 説 it was made too late.?

I spoke to the building society to ask why it had been 拒絶する/低下するd.

It told me that it replied to you in late December to tell you you would need to 供給する proof that the company had gone into 行政 ーするために take advantage of that 延長するd 540-day window.

It said you didn't 供給する that, so it was unable to proceed with your 論争.?

As the proof needed is a letter from the company, which had been 完全に unresponsive, I 疑問 whether you would have been able to procure this.

However, even if you had 供給するd the letter, 全国的な said the 論争 would still not have been able to go ahead.

That is because there is an 付加 支配する, which 明言する/公表するs that, while the 顧客 has 540 days from the 処理/取引 date to 開始する,打ち上げる a 支払い(額) 論争, the 論争 must still be 開始する,打ち上げるd within 120 days of the company going into 行政.

Unfortunately you just 行方不明になるd that 最終期限, and didn't raise the 論争 with 全国的な until 131 days after the company とじ込み/提出するd for 行政.?

These are 全世界の/万国共通の 支配するs 始める,決める by ビザ, so the 決定/判定勝ち(する) wasn't up to 全国的な.

You say the 言い回し on 全国的な's website about this was 混乱させるing, and it told me it would review it. But it seemed there wasn't anything else that could be done.

Visa rules: Payment disputes must be made within certain time limits - which can cause problems if a customer has paid for services that weren't set to be delivered straight away

ビザ 支配するs: 支払い(額) 論争s must be made within 確かな time 限界s - which can 原因(となる) problems if a 顧客 has paid for services that weren't 始める,決める to be 配達するd straight away

A 全国的な 広報担当者 said: 'The ビザ 支配するs 明言する/公表する that a (人命などを)奪う,主張する for goods and services not received need to be made within 120 days of the company entering 行政.?

'Unfortunately, when the 顧客 raised the 論争 with us, she was out of time, so we are unable to raise a (人命などを)奪う,主張する.'

I thought this was the end of the road, and that you would unfortunately be left without your £5,000.?

But a few weeks later, I was surprised to hear from you that the money had 突然に dropped into your account. How was that possible? I 接触するd 全国的な again to ask.?

While the (人命などを)奪う,主張する was out of time, 全国的な 試みる/企てるd a chargeback anyway.?

This is a simpler 過程 whereby the 顧客's bank 試みる/企てるs to 埋め立てる money 直接/まっすぐに from the retailer's bank, if goods and services weren't 供給するd.

Chargebacks also usually have an 120-day 限界.?

However, 全国的な told me that when it made the (人命などを)奪う,主張する, it pointed out that no 確定/確認 of 行政 was ever passed to you and highli ghted the date you became aware, to see if the the other bank would 受託する that this brought the (民事の)告訴 within the time 限界.

It was a long 発射, but it worked - meaning the (人命などを)奪う,主張する was successful and you finally got your refund, more than 18 months after you paid the money.?

I often criticise banks and building societies in this column, but I want to 賞賛する 全国的な for pulling out all the stops.

Neither you nor 全国的な were at fault here, but you were both left to 選ぶ up the pieces when the 会社/堅い that 約束d to do the work on your home 崩壊(する)d - and I am glad it ended with a 肯定的な result.?
