Greed is good? Not for today's entrepreneurs... 'New yuppies' prefer self-雇用 and veganism over the 法人組織の/企業の ladder and flash cars

  • New 報告(する)/憶測 明らかにする/漏らすs the new 'yuppies' have shunned the 超過s of the 1980s
  • They want to be their own bosses rather than chase 法人組織の/企業の careers?

When Miles MacInnes was growing up, his dad worked long hours and, dressed in his pinstripe 控訴, frequently travelled for 商売/仕事 to 供給する for his family.

It was typical of the 1980s 'yuppie' movement, an acronym used to 反映する a 世代 of young upwardly 動きやすい professionals famed for their 'work hard play hard' approach.

Today, as a dad-of-two himself, Miles has taken a different approach to work - and he's not alone.

A new 報告(する)/憶測 明らかにする/漏らすs how the children of the yuppies have thrown out the mantra that 'greed is good' - coined by Michael Douglas' 銀行業者 Gordon Gekko in the 攻撃する,衝突する film 塀で囲む Street - in favour of the idea that 'green is good'.

Young professionals are shunning 法人組織の/企業の salaries, flash cars and sipping シャンペン酒 in the City, for running their own 商売/仕事, vegan lunches and 維持できる 商売/仕事s.

A 報告(する)/憶測 from Mercedes-Benz 先頭s shows more than three 4半期/4分の1s of children born in the 1980s identify a 'successful' 商売/仕事 as one that is 維持できる, rather than one that prioritises 'making large 利益(をあげる)s at whatever cost'.

In 新規加入, 63 per cent said success comes from trying to make the world a better place, not rising to the 最高の,を越す of an 産業.

Miles, who runs east London ワイン 商売/仕事 Jascots, said: 'My dad was a 実業家 in London in the 1980s. He worked long hours with たびたび(訪れる) travelling as part of the 職業.

'My idea of success is very different to what drove the yuppies in the 1980s. For me, success is about finding harmony between work and family, 存在 driven by 目的, sustainability and making a 肯定的な 衝撃 on the people you work with.'

The 報告(する)/憶測 明らかにする/漏らすs the yuppies' children have 規模d 負かす/撃墜する their ambitions. More than half of those 投票d have chosen to be their own boss over working at a large 会社/堅い, and three 4半期/4分の1s prioritise sustainability over large 利益(をあげる)s.

What's (疑いを)晴らす is that this 世代, having grown up in the 影をつくる/尾行する of the yuppie 世代, is looking to undo some of the 超過s of the 1980s.?

Over two thirds believe 商売/仕事s should prioritise 減ずるing their 消極的な 衝撃 on the 環境 - no 事柄 the cost -? and 71 per cent would like to see more 商売/仕事s making 維持できる switches.

Miles said: 'I believe every 商売/仕事 has a 責任/義務 to understand its 環境の 衝撃, and we're 絶えず finding ways to 減ずる waste and 一括ing.?

'In the last six years we've 減ずるd our 炭素 放出/発行s by 28 per cent by making changes such as 取って代わるing one of our ディーゼル 先頭s with a Mercedes eVito electric 先頭 so we can 運動 around knowing we're making a 肯定的な difference.'

The new 世代 has also made some more superficial changes?which 示唆する that the materialism of the 1980s is 井戸/弁護士席 and truly over.

柔軟な working 手はず/準備 have seen some turn their 支援するs on fancy 控訴s and sports cars, which the high-flyers of their parents' 世代 had become synonymous with.?

Instead, nearly one in five said they dress 負かす/撃墜する or wear activewear for work, while 26 per cent own an electric 乗り物.

'I can picture my dad leaving the house every morning in his pinstripe 控訴, アイロンをかけるd shirt, tie and briefcase, but I rarely wear a 控訴, so I'm not surprised to hear that people my age are more likely to dress 負かす/撃墜する for work,' said Miles.

'At home we've also taken steps to live more sustainably. We've 削減(する) 負かす/撃墜する on eating meat to once a week as a family, we order veg boxes and subscribe to a milkman 配達/演説/出産 to 減ずる waste, 再使用するing the glass 瓶/封じ込めるs wherever possible. I also cycle to and from work whenever I need to go to the office.'
