HMRC sent me a shock 税金 法案 of £38k but would only を取り引きする me by 地位，任命する
HMRC has had to apologise to a taxpayer after 需要・要求するing thousands of 続けざまに猛撃するs for an 未払いの 法案, only to discover it was a typo.
David - not his real 指名する - was left reeling after he received a 法案 of more than £38,000 from HMRC にもかかわらず usually 存在 税金d at source through PAYE.

A closer look at what happened 明らかにする／漏らすs a sorry saga.
When HMRC received his 2020/21 税金 return, it 結論するd David had overpaid 税金 by nearly £8,000 which was refunded in October 2022.
But HMRC subsequently 設立する that David had omitted a その上の income of over £40,000, which led to his income going over the £125,140 threshold. This 削減（する） his personal allowance to 無, meaning David had 現実に underpaid his 税金 法案 by £388.75.
HMRC wrote to David in July 2023 知らせるing him about the 税金 he 借りがあるd, the 量 he was incorrectly repaid in October 2022, and the 利益／興味 incurred.
However, HMRC made an error and incorrectly said he 借りがあるd £38,368.35. In fact, the number should have been £8,368.35.
It doesn't end there, though.?
After This is Money asked HMRC to 調査／捜査する the 事例／患者, they identified that David had in fact not omitted any （警察などへの）密告，告訴（状） on his 2020/21 税金 return.
The form - which was a paper submission - had 含むd 詳細（に述べる）s of how much 税金 he had paid at source from his income in a separate question.

Thankfully, the 事柄 has now been 解決するd and all of the money the taxman （人命などを）奪う，主張するd David 借りがあるd has been cancelled.
An HMRC 広報担当者 said: 'We apologised to [David] for our error on his Self 査定／評価 法案. We have cancelled the 量 予定, along with any 利益／興味.
'We are looking carefully at [David's] 事例／患者 to see how we can 改善する our 過程s.'
