I'm struggling to find a 職業 in tech - how can I stand out from the (人が)群がる? BANK OF DAVE replies

I'm a 請負業者 and take 職業s for three-month or six-month periods, and occasionally for a year.

I have 15 years' experience in the tech field I'm in and plenty of 言及/関連s, but for the first time ever, I'm struggling to find a new 契約.

I've been 追跡(する)ing since October and I know it's the quietest time to find a new 役割, but I've gotten 職業s at this time of year before ? and it seems hundreds of us are now going for the same 職業.

I'm starting to panic わずかに. My CV is 公正に/かなり basic, in that it does everything a 従来の CV does, but is that leaving me behind? Do I need to do something to jazz it up for 2024 and beyond?

What can I do to stand out from the (人が)群がる and get an interview in what seems to be a very 競争の激しい market?

Dave Fishwick, This Is Money's 商売/仕事 doctor replies:?I have 雇うd many people over the years in many of my 商売/仕事s, 範囲ing from 所有物/資産/財産, 乗り物s, 投資s, banking and many more.

However, the people in particular that stand out are those who come knocking on my office door and ask for a 職業. They then tell me what they can bring to the party and how they can help my company 改善する sales, efficiency, and 生産性.

Many times over the years, I have given them a chance. There is no 代用品,人 for knocking on doors.

I'm not an 専門家 in the IT 産業. However, I do speak to people who are. The last year or two have been exceptional for many professions, 含むing IT. The 遺産/遺物 of the economy shutting 負かす/撃墜する during the pandemic meant there was a lot of catching up to do.

A colossal 刺激 (選挙などの)運動をする with borrowed money from the 政府 flooded the economy. The 影響 of 供給(する) chain 延期するs (疑いを)晴らすing saw a large backlog of 延滞の goods arriving in the country in a hectic year.

All these goods needed selling, and companies needed to 増加する advertising spending to 取り組む 広範囲にわたる 在庫s.

All these things 刺激するd a にわか景気 in many 部門s, 含むing 小売, 製造業の and transportation.

Since IT 供給するs services for all these 産業s, it's no surprise it followed the same 傾向. What you are seeing now could be seen as a hangover from this.

Hopefully, things will level out over the next year or so. The question for you is how to ride out this 日照り続き best.

You could consider becoming 正式に self-雇うd and bidding for work 直接/まっすぐに from the end (弁護士の)依頼人 instead of 契約ing for companies that sell their services to those (弁護士の)依頼人s.

I recommend reaching out to a broader audience and sending your 詳細(に述べる)s to as many 可能性のある 雇用者s or 顧客s as possible. There will still be enough work for you somewhere, but finding it might take more time, 成果/努力, and lots of knocking on doors.

I'm not sure which field within IT you specialise in, but as I'm sure you are aware, there are websites where people 要求するing tech services are matched with IT professionals.

This type of 'gig work' could be a 一時的な 解答, even if it's not the l onger-称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 大勝する you'd want to take.

It might be a good idea to use this 静かな (一定の)期間 to update and 追加する to your 範囲 of 技術s, and I know that cybersecurity is a growing area with plenty of work 利用できる. Someone I know has just started a fantastic new 職業 in cybersecurity sales.

It might be necessary to adjust 期待s for now if the 産業 is going through a difficult period.?

An important point to make here is that it is much easier to find a better 職業 while you are in a position of 雇用 than it is to find one when you are 失業した.

I think a CV will always be an 必須の 道具 to help find 永久の 雇用 or 契約s, but with gig work I'm told that 最近の experience and examples of work that have recently been 完全にするd are 広大な/多数の/重要な to 追加する.

I would also 示唆する you speak to 同僚s and friends in the 産業, show them your CV and ask for their feedback.
