監視者 green lights end of 解放する/自由な banking - but?banks 危険 a 顧客 反乱: JEFF PRESTRIDGE

いつかs, it is difficult to work out what 消費者 目的 the 財政上の 行為/行う 当局 ? the country's City regulator ? serves.

It's a conundrum I am sure many 消費者s will be asking themselves today ? after Nikhil Rathi, the regulator's 長,率いる honcho, gave the big banks the green light to axe 解放する/自由な-in-credit banking in favour of 料金-非難する 経常収支s.

A 'go' light that when (not if) 行為/法令/行動するd upon by the banks will make the 血 of millions of hard-working people boil over with 泡s of 財政上の 激怒(する).

As for the banks, I am sure their bosses are already rejoicing. Yet more 利益(をあげる)s to keep the City happy ? and yet more directors' 特別手当s that would keep us mere mortals financially 安全な・保証する for many a lifetime.

Surely, the regulator should understand that 解放する/自由な banking for those who keep their accounts in good order is woven into this country's 財政上の fabric ? like good old fish and 半導体素子s or bangers and mash.?

It's a reward for thrift and should not be abandoned.

Most people, 特に the 年輩の, will 簡単に not entertain the idea. A 財政上の 反乱? Don't 支配する it out.

For example, we had one 25 years ago when some of the big banks 手配中の,お尋ね者 to 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金 非,不,無-顧客s for using their cash machines.

?消費者s won that 戦う/戦い, and I am sure they would put up an almighty fight over the loss of 解放する/自由な-in-credit banking.

Customers' Revolt: Banks have faced a backlash before when they try to charge for what was previously free and ending free banking would trigger fury, says Jeff Prestridge

顧客s' 反乱: Banks have 直面するd a (激しい)反発 before when they try to 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金 for what was 以前 解放する/自由な and ending 解放する/自由な banking would 誘発する/引き起こす fury, says Jeff Prestridge

We shouldn't be surprised that Mr Rathi said the FCA would not stand in the way of those banks which 手配中の,お尋ね者 to discard 解放する/自由な-in-credit banking. It's a 'market and 商業の 決定/判定勝ち(する), not a regulatory 必要物/必要条件,' he 追加するd.

After all, this is the timid regulator that stood on the sidelines for ages while the banks ripped off their savers with miserly returns as the Bank of England 積極性 押し進めるd up 利益/興味 率s in 2022 and 2023.

It was only the wrath of the 財務省 委員会, 議長,司会を務めるd by the formidable 保守的な MP Harriett Baldwin, that 誘発するd the banks to start rewarding savers with わずかに higher 利益/興味 率s.

And while the FCA has only just taken over 責任/義務 for 確実にするing 全国的な 接近 to cash, it has hardly covered itself in glory so far.?

The banks keep 削除するing their 支店 網状組織s with impunity ? Lloyds 確認するing 53 差し迫った 支店 終結s across its three 小売 brands this week.

Next Wednesday, the 財務省 委員会 will 取調べ/厳しく尋問する the bosses of Barclays, Lloyds, NatWest and Santander over whether they are giving 顧客s a fair 取引,協定 ? against the 背景 of a 執拗な cost-of-living 危機.

I 信用 Ms Baldwin will use the 適切な時期 to 取調べ/厳しく尋問する them over whether they ーするつもりである to abandon 解放する/自由な banking for those who stay in credit. Maybe she should also ask Mr Rathi to come along.
