PHSO 長,指導者 (n)役員/(a)執行力のある Rebecca Hilsenrath said the DWP had '明確に 示すd that it will 辞退する to 従う' with the ombudsman's order to 支払う/賃金 補償(金). It has no 力/強力にするs to 強要する the 政府 to 支払う/賃金 and so took the rare step of asking 議会 to 介入する.

Ms Hilsenrath said: 'This is 容認できない. The department must do the 権利 thing and it must be held to account for 失敗 to do so. 議会 now needs to 行為/法令/行動する 速く, and make sure a 補償(金) 計画/陰謀 is 設立するd.'

It is 概算の the 是正する will cost taxpayers between £3.5 billion and £10.5 billion. The 総理大臣's 広報担当者 said the 政府 would 'consider the ombudsman's 報告(する)/憶測 and 答える/応じる to their 推薦s 正式に in 予定 course'.

Q&A

Who are the Waspi women?

The 称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 言及するs to those born between April 6, 1950, and April 5, 1960, who were 不正に 影響する/感情d by a change to the 明言する/公表する 年金 age when they turned 60.?

The acronym stands for Women Against 明言する/公表する 年金 不平等, coined by a (選挙などの)運動をする group of the same 指名する that has long called for 補償(金). An 概算の 3.8 million women were 影響する/感情d when the 年金 age rose from 60 to 65 between 2010 and 2020.

What is the Waspi (選挙などの)運動をする?

Until 2010, women were する権利を与えるd to receive the 明言する/公表する 年金 from the age of 60, but the 政府 発表するd in 1995 that this would 増加する to the age of 65 to level the playing field with men. The Waspi 選挙運動者s do not 論争 that the 年金 age should be the same for men and women, but members (人命などを)奪う,主張する the way the changes were 器具/実施するd were 不公平な.?

They say millions of women 苦しむd financially and were left worse off in 退職 because they were not given enough notice. Many women (人命などを)奪う,主張する they never received letters 知らせるing them about the rise before they reached 60, meaning they could not 準備する financially for the years without the 年金.

What did the 政府 do wrong?

The 議会の and Health Service Ombudsman has 支配するd that the Department for Work and 年金s failed to communicate the age rise. It (人命などを)奪う,主張するd the 影響する/感情d women had 'lost 適切な時期s to make 知らせるd 決定/判定勝ち(する)s about their 財政/金融s' as a result.?

The DWP spent millions on a 一連の unusual newspaper and magazine 広告s, featuring dogs and Monopoly boards, but many women received no personal correspondence and remained unaware of the changes. The DWP has failed to 申し込む/申し出 any 陳謝 or explanation for its failings and has 示すd it will not 支払う/賃金 補償(金), によれば the 監視者.

How much money could the women get?

The ombudsman has put 圧力 on 大臣s to 確実にする that payouts are made, as it 恐れるs the DWP will 辞退する to 行為/法令/行動する without direct orders. It recommended that women be 補償するd between £1,000 and £2,950, but payouts could 越える £10,000 in extreme 事例/患者s.

When will they get it?

It is not (疑いを)晴らす how 大臣s will 答える/応じる to the 監視者's 推薦s and 専門家s say a 決定/判定勝ち(する) may not be made until after the 選挙. 労働, whose 責任/義務 it may then be, was silent on the 問題/発行する yesterday.
