IMHO:
Display somewhere - yes
Display on the main GUI - no

Codecs informations, bitrates, original picture sizes are technical issues. While it's very useful for debugging BSplayer and solving playing problems, for normal users it is unnecessary. It would only trash the display.

The idea that BSplayer somewhere could provide such info is good. Hmmm... maybe do some GSpot plugin? :D
