How to Insert Web Links into Microsoft Word
- Type your blog text into Microsoft Word.
- Highlight the word or words with your cursor that you want to display for your link.
- Open your web browser and navigate to the web page to which you want to link.
- Highlight the web address with your cursor.
- Click on “Edit” in your web browser and then “Copy”.
- Go back to your Word document. Click on “Insert” and then “Hyperlink…”
- Click in the field called “Address:”.
- Hold down your “Ctrl” key and type the letter “V” to paste in the address.
- Click on “OK”.
When I am finished writing, I copy and paste all the text (with any hyperlinks) into the blog.
This same procedure works in most e-mail programs also. It is pretty useful if you want to send someone a link that wraps to more than one line. If you send an e-mail to someone with a link wrapped to more than one line, their e-mail may put a hard return at the end of the line so that the link does not work. This procedure will fix it so it works. When you send an e-mail with a link like this, your e-mail program may ask if you want to send it as plain text or web page (html) format. Select the option that either says web page or html.
