Hi, > which was the last CVS-snapshot of MPlayer version without the new sound > system, i.e. still with frame-skipping? I need to recompile for my girlfriends > slow machine, and of course I don't have the source anymore. ok, just re-implemented it. now it's disabled by default, and has 3 levels: cmdline option: -noframedrop = no frame dropping -framedrop = frame drooping (decode all frames, skip display only) -hardframedrop = hard frame drop (skip decoding if needed - buggy with divx) (also you can use 'd' key to cycle it runtime) if your cpu is slow even for decoding (it eats all the cpu with -vo null too) then try -hardframedrop -nodshow dshow version is very buggy when hard frame dropping used, vfw is much better here. when to enable it? if A-V keeps increasing (V<A). i'm interested in positive and negative results. "unfortunately" i can't test -framedrop here, because video display eats 4% cpu even for -vo x11 32bpp 720x380 divx...
