Salut. I just want to give a feedback on what I done to get mplayer working in xv mode with a voodoo3 3000 card (on a debian Sid), for the others in the same situation as mine. Xfree-4.0.3 does not include YUY2 support. Then I had to get a new version of the DRI driver on http://dri.sourceforge.net. Since i did not want to compile myself all the XFree86 stuff, I'd get the binary packages. I have installed the last version (0.6), and mplayer works in xv mode! Xvinfo says: Number of image formats: 4 id: 0x32595559 (YUY2) guid: 59555932-0000-0010-8000-00aa00389b71 bits per pixel: 16 number of planes: 1 type: YUV (packed) id: 0x59565955 (UYVY) guid: 55595659-0000-0010-8000-00aa00389b71 bits per pixel: 16 number of planes: 1 type: YUV (packed) id: 0x32315659 (YV12) guid: 59563132-0000-0010-8000-00aa00389b71 bits per pixel: 12 number of planes: 3 type: YUV (planar) id: 0x30323449 (I420) guid: 49343230-0000-0010-8000-00aa00389b71 bits per pixel: 12 number of planes: 3 type: YUV (planar) And no problem with the 3D acceleration part.I just had an X crash at the begining and everything is ok since.(Note that the DRI installation script of the binary package needs to build the tdfx kernel module (include in the DRI package)). I also tried the 0.5 version. Xv was Ok but all 3D apps segfault. Could anyone, who has CVS access, update the voodoo answers in the mplayer FAQ : need a DRI update to the 0.6 version (solution I had tested) or compile Xfree86 from CVS (which someone told me it works).
