I just build a deb package out of CVS, and it works. the thing is a little trick, there are a few bugs in the deb scripts. here they are. in debian/postinst.template there are two extra CR at the end of the file. in postinst, line 43 reads $RET="true" should be RET="true" then, you'll just have to build the whole thing go in the main mplayer directory and run fakeroot debian/rules binary dpkg -i --force-overwrite mplayer_0.17a-2_i386.deb this should do the trick ( BTW, fakeroot isn't installed by default, you might have to run apt-get install fakeroot to install it ) Hope I helped...
